    You compare a base model Durango to a loaded Cherokee which costs 10000 more. For 54 thousand you can get a Durango RT plus which has a 10-inch screen a hemi V8 with alcantara leather seats and a suede headliner this is not a fair comparison as this will sway people without them having all of the facts in hand.

    I like the fact that the GC and Durango still have a truck look to them. So tired of everything looking like different sizes of half smushed eggs.
    Had a Durango a long time ago with the V8 magnum engine. Loved it.
    I think I'd opt for the GC as it fits my life more now. With 5 grandkids and 3 adult kids, I need space and power, ac vents, power ports etc. for a more comfortable trip.
    Great comparison video, thank you.

    I bought a brand new 2021 Durango RT, Tow N Go and only put 11,000 miles on her. Well, the powertrain started to take a dump on me and whilst under warranty they ended up replacing like 4 major components and was still having issues. I loved the vehicle but with kids, taking trips, etc I had ta bail as I didn't trust it anymore. The dealer took my car off my hand and gave me money to put down on a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland with the 5.7 Hemi. WOW! I actually do not miss my Durango RT Tow N Go with this thing! The interior ambient lighting is so cool, there's massaging seats, panoramic sun roof, this 5.7 V8 and transmission (not sure if they're exactly the same in each vehicle) but the Jeep seems more smooth, pulls harder and better shifts. Really love this Jeep!

    I just spent a couple of weeks looking for a Grand Cherokee Limited to pull my 3500 lb boat and trailer. The GC is rated for 6200lbs "fantastic" however Jeep adding a trailer tow package was almost non existent in the Limited. After some more research I discovered the Durango is pretty much the Grand Cherokee L sister however the Durangos come with factory installed trailer tow package. Some Jeeps came with a Trailer tow prep package but no hitch or plugin. Dealer wanted 1400$ to install hitch and wiring. We are happy with the Durango same engine same dash and electronics and seating as far as we can tell. GO DURANGO.

    Durango is an older architecture with what i felt was a smaller interior space (im 6'1" and 230lb), much more cramped 3rd row, and significantly mire expensive insurance rates. I also preferred rhe GCL displays and dash.

    The other big difference is the drivetrain, dollar-for-dollar the GC will always have a superior off-road setup where the Durango will have a more tow/driving oriented package.

    Just went through this went with the Durango RT Tow n Go. Had GC's for years but not a huge fan of the latest style and the fact the 5.7 V8 is almost impossible to find in the GC, I had to go with the Durango as a boat pulling SUV. It's thirsty, but sounds awesome with that SRT exhaust. Really happy with the RT

      Going through this now. Been going back and forth between the GCL Limited and Durango RT Plus w/tow and go. If I price out a GCL Overland with the Hemi , the price sky rockets to over 10k more than the DD. Now, the Hemi isn't even available in the GCL Overland. For that, I'd have to jump up to the Reserve. So back to the GCL Limited vs DD RT Plus. I won't be off-roading either except for maintained trails and non paved roads. So for the bang for the buck, I'm leaving heavily towards the DD. V8, real leather, more towing, real shifter, better suspension and better reliability. Especially with 5k+ rebates, on both, and certain dealers willing to discount off of MSRP, I'll be pulling the trigger on the DD soon!

    Gt or GT plus for the durango would be a lot more comparable to that grand cherokee. Both still have the same pentastar V6 there and mostly the same base options

    • @69sound81
      @69sound81 Před rokem

      Here in Mexico we have a very different story about both vehicles. We only get GT plus, RT and SRT (mostly GT plus and RT). And Jeep doesn't have as many incentives as you have in the US. So the base Durango we have is the GT plus that costs around 58k and the Base line Grand Cherokee would be around 75k... so, like a 15 to 17k difference. Price wise, it is more comparable the RT and the base grand cherokee we get.
      Also, GT plus comes with mostly all the options available besides engine. Here, the best value for the money goes to the Durango hands down. Jeep offers a nicer interior, more luxury and a newer plattform but that comes at a very high price that yould get you a very very nice V8 Durango.

    I have the GC-L and love it, but have some issues with it
    1. I upgraded from a 2010 300, and I could download my music. Unfortunately I can't do this now.
    2. It came with the back up camera, I went back to the dealer to see if I could add the front camera. One dealership said no, the other said technically yes. But the front end and modules would have to be changed and it will cost roughly $4,000 to upgrade.
    3. My dash camera is powered by the cigarette lighter outlet, which is located in the little compartment with the door that closes. That's not conducive for the wiring because eventually repetitive opening and closing it is going to cause damage to the cord.
    4. I didn't like the fact that the seats are half leather and half suede. The only way I could get all leather seats was to upgrade to the Overland, which was the extra $13,000.
    5. That trunk apartment is really small. My husband is a survivalist. So the emergency kit, gas can, blanket, and emergency food would not fit in there.

    • @ytwizzle

    Why would you compare a base model Durango to a fancier, higher trim level Jeep Grand Cherokee?

  • @josephs1701
    @josephs1701 Před rokem

    Walked out with a new Durango Launch Edition for 38k, only feature it’s missing that matters is land departure. I have heated seats, remote start, acc/fcw, and a classic muscle design before they’re gone. For 38k, when Jeep wanted 45 with 5k in incentives, nah I’m good. The latest ain’t always the greatest, and the Durango has a great track record.
    It really comes down to preference on these, even though the Durango is older architecture it’s solid, and it’s tech has been upgraded throughout the years.
    Cant go wrong with either, but reliability wise the Durango is what I went with.
