The new e-hybrid drive for Jeep Renegade and Compass consists of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with an output of 96 kW (130 hp) and 240 Newton meters of torque as well as a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with an integrated 48-volt electric motor with 15 kW (20 hp) and 55 Newton meters of torque.
The 48 volt water-cooled battery pack also includes a 48 to 12 volt DC/DC converter. A belt starter generator provides a comfortably smooth restart of the engine at low speed.
The four-cylinder turbo engine has been designed to be best suited for hybrid operation with optimized thermodynamics, thus helping to save fuel. It works according to the Miller cycle, in which the intake valve, which closes much earlier than in classic engines, improves thermal efficiency. The combustion of the mixture also takes place at a high compression ratio of 12.5:1.
Thanks to the e-Hybrid propulsion system, Renegade and Compass offer a new alternative in the front-wheel drive hybrid vehicle segment. Unlike most mild hybrids, the Renegade and Compass e-Hybrid can also drive purely electrically, for example when parking, maneuvering or in stop-and-go traffic. In this way, customers can maintain their driving habits, do not need a charging infrastructure and can still be locally emission-free in many everyday situations, especially in urban areas.
Hybrid driving parameters are controlled by the driver via the hybrid pages on the infotainment display or via on-screen displays in the instrument panel.
Thanks to the high level of technology and software, Jeep Renegade and Compass e-Hybrid offer a versatile and relaxed driving experience, which is made even safer by the extensive equipment with advanced driver assistance systems.
With the new Highway Assist, the Jeep Compass reaches level 2 of autonomous driving.

Mirrors are smarter this way! Because take for example, I go to the car for the trunk 10 times a day without leaving, therefore the mirrors don’t keep unfolding 100 times 😅

Does the ac compressor stop working if the engine is off?
Yes, it is a 48V system that's requires the engine to be on for the ac compessor. It is quite effective for fuel consumption reduction (15-20% saving), but for electric clima you need the plug-in high voltage system
