Aiden Collins that wouldn't really work because the team who got the bad call against them would want the ump out but the other team wouldn't. Also who would replace the kicked out umpire? If teams were honest, it would be a good idea.
Nathan couldn't believe it,how about Indians runner,he put his hands on his head because he knew he was out but ump missed it and he lost a perfect game!
The one with the Detroit pitcher at first was for a perfect game, too. So because of that, not only did he not get a perfect game, but he also didn't get a no-hitter because they counted that as a single
The umpire who blew that call was Jim Joyce and, to his credit, he admitted he blew that call and absolutely felt horrible about it. I think he even cried. And, to Armando Galarraga's (the pitcher's) credit, he also handled it in a classy way. See how he smiled? No pouting like a little baby and jumping up and down. The next day, Jim Joyce was working the plate, and the Detroit fans actually cheered him because of the classy way he handled the situation. The Tigers sent Galarraga out to hand in the team's line-up during the plate meeting to show that there were no hard feelings. Umpire's are going to make mistakes. It's how they handle those mistakes that distinguishes them. Jim Joyce (now retired) handled this like a professional. "I just cost the kid a perfect game," he said. The sad thing is if there had been video review, it would have never happened and Galarraga would've got his perfect game. Jim Joyce was consistently seen by coaches and players as one of the best umpires in baseball, even _after_ this occurred. It's a shame that if you go to his wikipedia site that this incident gets mentioned right off the bat. He's the Bill Buckner of umpires and Bill Buckner was actually a very good ball player - but most people remember him for allowing that slow grounder to go between his legs that contributed to the Boston Red Sox losing the 1986 World Series. Former MLB umpire, Don Denkinger didn't cost a pitcher a perfect game with a blown call; he cost the 1985 Cardinals the entire World Series. Had he made the correct call at 1st base the St. Louis Cardinals would have been the World Series champions. As it turned out, the Kansas City Royals ended up winning. (That was the "I-70 Series". Who would've ever predicted that the two teams in the World Series would _both_ be from Missouri?)
David Emerling you can’t even compare that. Lead off batter in the 9th reaches 1st base. 0 outs. Missed call. ...... to a 2 out bottom of the 9th final play of the game?..... cardinals blew the game and game 7
@@DavidEmerling79 you are very correct. Mistakes will happen its how they are handled and joyce did what he could after he made that mistake. May not be great but its all he could do and i dont hear a lot of people talking bad about joyce like i do hernandez and joe west.
5 is super close, wouldn't be shocked if that was a called strike. 1 # 3 are close enough that depending on the movement of the pitch, Zobrist may of chased.
The A's home run that even got a video replay? And couldn't get that right makes me super mad! But more than that taking away a perfect game by Jim Joyce. You can hear the disappointment in the announcers
Angel Hernandez is regularly one of the worst umpires in MLB. Rosales hit the ball about 2 feet above the yellow line, clearly the ball changed directions after hitting the guard rail. He's a D-bag!
@@liamday453 Funny video, but there's no way that the glove completely missed both the runner's knee and arm. The umpire even admitted he just got it wrong, himself. _And_ he even admitted the reason for it (which I had noticed earlier in the vid, but didn't know he specifically admitted until that point in the video). Foolish Baseball claims there's no angle in the vid that you can see the pant leg move, but he's wrong. If you go frame by frame at 5:13, you can see the catcher's mitt making an indentation on the loose part of the runner's pants. FB is saying "watch the glove", when he should've been watching the pants, especially when he already knew that was the umpire's reason for admitting he got it wrong.
ehh idk... i think it was pretty close, pause the video where the ball crosses the plate...and youll see that it's over the plate. i dont care where it ends up at.
Matt Pyle if you followed baseball you would know these aren't the only "mistakes" these particular umps make/have made. and a lot of these cost a ball game. they need to be suspended for 6 months
I remember when Ron Gant was pulled off the bag. It literally cost the Braves a world series title. The series went to game 7 and Kirby Puckett hits a home run to win the game.
IK I'm a Dodgers fan and I was watching that game and I was so pissed that he called it save I was heated and then the next day I was still pissed like how bad can you be and not seeing it was out
The call at 5:25 shouldn’t be on here because when you slow it down it doesn’t look like he tagged him at all. He swiped his glove and missed. That’s a tough call to make, and the right one to make.
Adhik Sivakumar at a different angle he wasn’t anywhere close to his arm. He did swipe and may have missed the tag. Go watch foolish baseball’s video on it
The Braves-Pirates call was actually a very good one. He realized that the catcher missed the tag even though the throw beat the runner. Also, if there was instant replay, there has to be *overwhelming evidence* that the call is wrong, and if you search up multiple angles there is no way you can see if he’s safe or out.
Just knowing certain bad umpires and of their location will tell you that the game will be fixed. Yes Umpires do fix games and even throw games making a lot of bad calls. Like for example just knowing that Angel Hernandez will be umpiring at home plate automatically tells you that the game is going to be fixed. There is about a dozen of them that I know will fix games, throw out players at just a peep of a complaint, or showing displeasure on a call, and some umpires will even antagonize players to the point where they can be thrown out of the game. There is one very good way to get them out of such games at home plate. All you need is a catcher and pitcher to work it so that those umpires get hit with a heater at the head area. It might take one or two pitches to get them to leave the game on their own. Easily done as catcher and pitcher can claim they got the pitch call signals mixed up. The key is you get the bad umpire out of there. As to the rest in the field 3rd, 2nd and 1st base umpires some are just as bad but thank goodness there is replay that can overturn their calls on disputes. You cannot use replay on home plate umpires. Now I hope you understand. True its dirty tactics but its the only way to keep the game clean by making good calls and not bad ones that fix a game. Many players get hit with strike calls from Line umpires on checked swings. I have seen many of them never cross past the plate line but still get a checked swing strike. We need cameras fixed down the 1st and 3rd base line that has a red vertical line to verify if the batter who did a checked swing crossed over the line. This replay can be done within 30 seconds for a quick decision.
I’m a firm believer that Jerry Meals doesn’t like umpiring he just wants to get paid and go home. He always makes calls like that and the end of games.
As a little league umpire the review ones are ridiculous how they can’t see but the tag calls in real time are really difficult but ofc they are pros and shouldn’t make these mistakes
