    Teams should have the right to appeal at least a couple of calls per game. It shouldn't take too long as it is displayed in the virtual strike zone after every pitch.

    Umpires themselves are making the case to go to some sort of automation calls behind the plate. I believe they are still needed on the field but home plate? Not really. Plays at the plate can easily be settled by replays.

    I get the whole “dropped third strike” rule where you can run, but what about being able to challenge called third strikes that are clearly balls, I mean if it’s right on the black, dead outer edge of the strike zone that’s one thing be aggressive and choke and poke that ball but if you see as a coach the catcher clearly have to frame the ball 6,7 or even 8 inches or more off the plate it should be a thing where you can be like, “I wanna second opinion from replay”. I know it probably doesn’t make any sense but that’s just my opinion

  • @markharbaugh4445

    Problem is, you could have filled up hours upon hours of pitches similar to these on the season. It would be one thing to call a corner strike and then call a pitch just off the corner a strike, but too many times a pitcher can throw the ball in the same location 4 straight times and have the count be 2-2. As a pitcher and a hitter, that makes your job harder. If a guy behind the plate is consistent, you can adjust, even if it is adjusting to balls being called strikes and strikes being called balls. Consistency is the key. But these umps nowadays are nowhere near consistent, other than the idea of being consistently bad.

    • @markharbaugh4445
      @markharbaugh4445 Před rokem

      You have to get the sense these umps know they will not be punished. With technology, fans and players know immediately if the correct call was made. Perhaps if MLB starts fining umps for missed calls it might improve. I doubt it, so we might as well just implement the robo umps behind the plate.

    The umpires frequently deemed many pitches as strikes due to their interpretation of how the catcher presented or framed these pitches.

    Should be able to fine ump.s Guarantee they’ll start making better calls if they have a certain number of ball/strike/safe/out calls. I’m think if they miss more then 10 as a ump calling balls and strike and more than 3 calling safe and out they should get fined 3k and additional 1k per incorrect call after the fact.
