      Are your replacement strut assemblies a monotube strut design for the Cadillac CTS? (the same exact ones in this video)

    How do I know the correct height to properly adjust the control arms before tightening them?

    If someone cant take a tire off they have no business working on suspension.

    How tight are the upper control arms supposed to be? It appears you just hand tightened them but unsure and concerned I wouldn't tighten them enough or possibly over tighten. Thanks and great video!!

    • @danielgabarron8578
      @danielgabarron8578 Před 3 lety +1

      With tight fits like this you don't have much of a choice but to not use a torque wrench.
      Look up the torque specs. Its probably between 30 - 60 which is fairly easy to hand tighten to and fairly difficult to accidently over tighten. It would have to be a deliberate over tightening

    Could you show how to replace top strut mounts on 2005 srx basic suspension. Thnx.

  • @ads1035
    @ads1035 Před 5 lety

    I know the CTS and STS of this generation are built on the same platform, so are these parts interchangeable between the two models? A1 Auto's the only website I've found that has the whole assembly instead of just the strut, but its only for the CTS and not the STS.

    What should the torque be for tightening the upper control arm bolts?

  • @jamieofalltrades536
    @jamieofalltrades536 Před 4 lety

    You should had pointed out for people, that even though it takes a little bit more effort to remove the upper control arm from the strut assembly, using a spring compressor you can replace just the strut . Some people are on a tight budget and replacing the 60 to $150 strut is a lot more affordable

    how much yall charge for the struts? and where are they made? and how you know how high to jack the assembly before you tighten the control arm bolts?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  Před 6 lety

      +Captain Ben Walsh If you are working using one jack stand then you just need to support the weight on the bottom of the lower control arm, and that will be normal ride height. You will have to get an alignment performed afterwards, so any adjustments will be made afterwards! The struts can be found in this link! www.1aauto.com/cadillac-cts-cts-v-strut-and-spring-assembly/i/1asts01195?CZcams&CTA+Comment&Z7NxBVSQI

    • @danielgabarron8578
      @danielgabarron8578 Před 3 lety

      Yes and no. For the rear you'll have a drive axle that you'll have to deal with, also the type of strut assembly will be a bit different.
      But about 90% of this will be the same

  • @calvinthames4921

    I see you guys never answered the question on how to know where the correct ride height is/how much to load the strut before tightening the control arm. So could you answer that question please?

    • @paulhudson231
      @paulhudson231 Před 3 lety +3

      With the car on the ground I would measure from the top center (at the outer edge of the fender) of the wheel well to the center of the wheel. With the wheel off you can jack the assembly up to the same distance.
