Senna died, he couldn't continue his legacy to earn more wins... who would know how much will he get.
After Senna’s death, Michael Schumacher requested for the cars to have a stronger chassis and body to help protect the driver.
And after the death of Jules bianchi (sorry if I spelt it wrong) there i death started to float around about more head safety, I’m pretty sure the HANS was already in use then, so from that, became the halo.
Cheesy Fries hans was in use since 2003.
Hans died in 2006🤪
No Jules would've died with the Halo as well there is no possible protection for such an accident, but what they introduced is the VSC (virtual safety car) where you have to maintain a certain speed, that would've probably saved his life.
Welp, I’m not as up to date as i thought
Gameplaylike, yup and recovery vehicles aren’t allowed on track during yellow or double yellow anymore.Without a VSC or a safety car no recovery equipment and personal is allowed on track and in run off areas.
Plans considering head shielding mounted on the car really took off after henry surtees death and Massa’s incident.

Grateful for the great video! I've been following the sport for decades and yet, I found things I didn't know.
Of course, more videos will be needed. In the next opportunity, I suggest some space for our double champion Emerson Fittipaldi.
The nickname he earned at Interlagos, "Rato" (rat), is self-explanatory when you see a photo of the guy. He was one of the few pilots who knew a lot about mechanics, like Fangio.
This made it easier for him to bond with the team and also allowed him a very efficient strategy. In some way, Emerson caused opponents to force their engines beyond the technical limit. They broke and Emerson won. I did not know of another pilot capable of this, in a systematic way.
Pretty nice video! All in all pretty much on point. The correction on KERS was in the comments allready.
They also replaced that wooden plank with metallic skid blocks, to bring back the sparks from the 80s and 90s. They still have the same function as the wooden planks though, but it looks pretty darn impressive, when the cars begin to spark on long straights!

Greatest rivalry was Prost/Senna hands down. The 80s turbo cars made 1500hp from 1.5 liters but had a weight penalty, just saying.
Your right, I didn't clarify that! The cars olny lasted one lap before melting parts! Also it was just an estimate as dynos of the day maxed out at 1300hp. They said race trim was around 1000 hp.
The cars don't reach 1500HP. It just was one engine of one car. Is exception a word to you?
Snippy which engine and which car? I said the dynos went to 1300 horsepower the engineers estimated 1500 for qualifing. What part of that do you have a problem with?
yes it was the BMW M12/13 engines that are famous for making 1500hp but do you think that others weren't? other cars were competitive and so they were probably making around that horsepower level as well
yeah the days when they put a new engine in just for the quali lap...

The v10 and v12 era of formula one was the most beautiful. The sounds were spectacular, the drivers were even more so. During the Schumacher reign, drivers like Juan Pablo Montoya, Ralph Schumacher, Jenson button, Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, rubens barrichello and a couple more would all fight for victory. The v8 era of 2006-2013 would also be an amazing era of ear piercing noises and Finnish national anthems. The 2009 and 2012 seasons were particularly spectacular with brawn Gp and their championship campaign and Ferrari, mclaren, redbull, lotus and Mercedes AMG battling in 2012.. f1 is a great series and I wish it took a trip back to its roots for the 2021 rule change
There wasn't a single point in F1 history where a V12 was mandatory. The so called v12 era never happened.
You missed out Mika Häikennen for some reason

actually there's something wrong in this video, when you talk about current engines they dont use KERS anymore, KERS system was only used by 2009-2013 (under V8 rules), nowadays (Turbocharged V6) they use a powertrain powered by two indivual systems, MGU-K and MGU-H, the car is who determines who's gonna be in use and deliver power...
They also put out 1000+ hp with the ers
yeah i was looking for this comment as that really bugged me
Your true my man !!! The facts in this video are wrong
Its pretty much the same
Max Power Not even close. The KERS system uses on single battery within the car to regenerate and deploy energy. In the current hybrid system, there are separate systems that recover and deploy the energy, that being the MGU-H and the MGU-K respectively. The MGU-K also recovers energy, just at a smaller scale.
Very well done guy's. As a F1 fan who has been watching it since the late 70's till present day, you hit on the most important of parts throughout F1's history and explained it as simply as is possible. With a series filled with technology as complex as F1 that was no easy task. Good job.

Maldonado driving an inferior car was in many cases able to outrun LH in that uber-Mercedes.
So, he has talent and skill. But he's also very flammable, easily loses nerves, so he's not consistent from lap to lap.
But, we need Maldonado back to F1. Because he was the only driver (aside from Max and Kvyat) who wouldn't let LH do whatever he wanted. If LH pushed him off the track, in the very next corner Maldonado would smash him into the barrier. Venezuelan temper :)

it sparked before... it only sparked because of friction when it ran on the ground.
@@spom3445 Before they introduced the titanium plank? Not really, since it was made of wood. What sparked were other areas of the car, but way less then now. If you mean in the past (like the 70´s), that´s because they were made of titanium. But they introduced the wood ones to avoid the teams of running the car too low and risk accidents because of the car losing traction on bumps.

It’s crazy how in Argentina, a country that runs on football and then rugby, and then basketball, and then cars; Fangio is one of the biggest sport legends remembered to this day, even after more than 60 years. Guy’s literally a national pride, and pretty deserved.

There's actually a really good movie called Senna that is on Netflix (or was at one point) that is all about his life and rise to the top and death. It's in Portuguese, but is subtitled. Nothing about Jules Bianchi? And nothing about how the current cars also get close to 1000HP?
Mercedes kinda announced there f1 engine is making over a thousand last year when they announced the project one, saying the car "total output from the hybrid set-up exceeds 1,000bhp"
Hallison Michel They are just calling it '''Party Mode'' now because its fun going fast, they have the best quali mode since 2014 no doubt about that. Every power unit has a quali mode no matter what anyone says, but not every power unit can be as linear and as powerful as Mercedes can without destroying the unit. I don't agree with Ferrari being half a second behind. Seb didn't have a great lap, and in the race they should be similar but we will never know because its hard to pass and if you want to overtake you basically have to go into quali mode and hurt the power unit and you only have 3 power units for the full season, so expect many races to be done midway. In other words P1 T1 wins the race most of the time if there are no yellow flags.
And this video does not get anything wrong it's just missing a lot of things, like rule change in 2009, Red Bull domination etc. Which is ok because it is Up to Speed but i feel like 2-3 more facts would make the video a lot better. Perhaps they should have done the last 10 years a bit more detailed so you are actually Up to Speed.
He also spoke as if Lancia started Ferrari in F1 (while Gianni Lancia and Vittorio Jano gave just the D50 that was modified and it was renamed 801), while it was Alfa Romeo that gave the cars (with the mighty P3 in the list) to Scuderia Ferrari from 1929 to 1947.
So for someone that doesn't know Formula 1 and its history (since when it started as Formula Grand Prix in 1906) can understand and learn a wrong thing.
I read somewhere honda's engine for mclaren (2017) reached 750kw (about 1000hp) and it was at last year's preseason testing. Assuming the rest had more and they have been in development for a year for this season, all current engines have a bit more than just 1000hp
diazzsama If 950 HP is more or less Renault's figures how can be Honda around 1000 like Mercedes and Ferrari? Honda is underpowered so it had more like just more than 900 HP.
Obviously these figure are in no way accurate as being current F1 cars racing.

One important point about 1994: All of the main driver aids (Traction control, Semi-Auto Gearbox, etc.) were banned at the end of '93/beginning of '94. With no other changes to the cars, their characteristics in terms of drivability and safety changed drastically, which made them a challenge for all of the drivers to get used to, which in term contributed to the cars' lack of safety. These ended up being factors in the disaster that was that year's San Marino GP (as well as the Bennetton Cheating scandal in a slight sense, only about the driver aids).
This is my favorite history class ever 😍 thank you Donut. #jamesislife
The planks are no more wood Madden but titanium mad, that explain the sparks we see now. Then engines are rated at about 1000hp for Mercedes. ;)
zcsb1 you are wrong. They are still wood but have titanium strips on them.
You are both wrong. They are wooden composite these days. Not just a plank of wood. And yes it has titanium skid plates on it.
DelSolTypeR1987 still, the titanium plate wear is controlled now.
As far as I know, sparks are due to the titanium bolts that are used to attach the wooden plank. Please correct me if I am wrong :)

when senna died there was a market shift to from 12 - 8 cyl..
though at some point they were looking at v6 turbo which were matching N/A tuned 8 cyls, noting that v8 tuned with turbos were matching or exceeding the power output of the 12 cyls..
as for the elf 1,2 and 3 concept lasted 1.5 seasons with the last bowing out of either le mans or monaco GP with engine issues
