Another throwback #MustangTown Showdown featuring a classic Camaro vs Mustang street match-up.
The 1993 LT1 Camaro is a fairly stock but "loaded" down heavily optioned automatic with couple basic entry level bolt-on mods.
The 1989 Mustang 5.0 is a bare-boned stripper 5-speed with full exhaust, gears and a few minor bolt-ons and 4.10 gears and as mentioned, a very stripped down light weight “bare-bones" optioned LX, with gutted interior panels, no passenger seat or back seat, and probably weighs around 700 lbs under the Camaro.
The LT1 guys might leave a few comments on this one, lol, but be easy fellas, it's all American Iron!

The foxbody never gets old.
Ford mustang all the way but in Reality its all about American muscle 👏😂😏😁👌🚗💨
I concur brother, it's all about the #AmericanIron especially the #V8ponycars
looks like a fun day out enjoying what these cars are made for!
this guy in the fox body can drive....ive seen him in a couple vids, driving other 5.0L's...and never misses a shift! good lookin out.
Ford power all day
Hey fellas... I revised this video a bit... It seems CZcams doesn't like music in videos. And if you produce music yourself and haven't registered copyright ownership, they want you to prove that the music is yours... How do you do that????...LOL!!!! anyway, here is a revised, music less version of the Brutha-man and his gutted orange 5.0 Mustang beat'n on an LT1 Camaro Z28...
This is why i i subbed. You reply to comments, have a sense of humor, and you put up some badass videos of some badass cars. Keep em coming!
@NedacFilms I wasn't refering to the Notchback Coupe LX models... I was comparing the LX models similar to the featured car in the vid. Notchbacks certainly are a bit lighter and weigh in under the 3,000lb mark with a stripped down non-optioned version.
Anyone know if anyone has done a 3.7 swap into a foxbody and if so how it worked ...i know of the new 5.0 swap but not the 3.7 .
I'm sure a few gearheads have done it somewhere, lol. If I were going to do a swap it would be a 5.0 Coyote V8 engine, although the 300+hp 3.7 is an amazing little V6 and should be abundant in junkyards now or soon. Would be a nice project!!!
what kind of exhaust is on the fox?
that orange 5.0 is bad ass!!!
what would you think about a 6 speed trans in the orange mustang?
Thanks. Enjoyed that.
What tires is that if u remembers?
TO ALL THAT READ THIS- I have a 93 5.0 mustang 5 speed that im planning to start a build on. give me ideas on what way to go. it already has the normal bolt ons like headers ect. im thinking turbo 306 but let me know what you think would be cool to do.(im keeping it a street car) so nothing radical. I have even thought about a LS chevy engine
Exactly, I also have a 5.7 Yukon 4x4 that I use to haul my cars & family around... But I hardly even drive the thing because I have a company vehicle through my work that I drive through the week... with a gas card. So I just so happen to be in a position where I can enjoy big engines and still have a fat wallet. Don't hate me for that man. I worked damn hard to get there. Please tell me you aren't one of those liberals that believe us hard working people should pay all the lazy peoples way.
@Stangorino281 well put... I own a Camaro and a Mustang, and I honestly love them equally.
@NedacFilms how much power do you have at the wheels bro and how much weight
What color orange is that
The Windsor 5.0: The Little Engine That Could
"at a little roll" "alright lets ROLL" lol
@jskate923 This was shot over 10 years ago, with an old piece of crap analog camera... back then I didn't care much about quality...LOL!!! ...but we were shooting races on the street way before CZcams was ever dreamed up... once CZcams popped up I figured I'd share my old compiled footage from back in the 90s and earlier 00s... which is why many of my older clips have terrible quality... some so bad I won't upload, LOL.
owned three mustangs and loved them had a 02 z28 and loved it ! both these cars are awesome....
@phantom5203 nice... but 07's? ...as in 2007 model years?
My '90 G92 optioned Camaro weighs 3,105lbs empty... my '89 Fox-Body LX weighs 3,090 lbs empty. I believe a low optioned late-'90s Camaro is probably around 500 lbs heavier than these models, but makes 100 more horsepower... and they handle and brake better than both earlier mentioned models.
@Dodgerules12 a 1993 camaro z/28 doesnt have a 305 it has a 350?
that was an awsome race.
@Texarmageddon you like the ram air's ?
@FlammingIce I'm referring to the production Mustang Boss 302 LS vs BMW ///M3, they talked about it on SPEED, and I think there is a video or two on CZcams of it.
I REMEMBER THE DAYS OF RACING A LOT OF PEOPLE BACK IN THE 90S WITH MY 87 MUSTANG GT OF WHICH I STILL OWN.
Well said... that is exactly what it is all about.
GREAT VID MAN!!!
Very nice Stang! LOVE that color!
Is there a seat in the mustang or is the seat just set ridiculously far back? Looks like hes just using the steering wheel to hold on.
Ty for make me buying one Jus lik urs but no spoiler. It's 89 n 5spd all stock but loving it!
@TheDartblockstang I own a Mustang and will say for these particular models, stock vs stock, the LT1 powered Camaro Z28 is going to take the 5.0 Mustang LX by almost a half second 1/4 mile time, and 40hp more @ the rear wheels....
BEAST MODE! god damn man beastly ass mustang there
@NedacFilms Sounds great. That's a NICE fox. Do you happen to know what he has done to it?
was that guy in the orange stang holding on to the door because there was no seat or was it because he likes to lay down when he drives and didn't want to mess up his seat setting?
nice race!
I wish my stang hooked like that 1, when I'm in 1st gear I have no traction at all and then the tires heat up and I have no traction at all which sucks because all the torque is in 1st gear
anyone ever heard of a horn start?
@iceguy2003 Full exhaust (headers, O/R X-pipe and Flowmaster Cat-Back, and a set of 4.11 gears and Cold-Air is about it. It does so well because it is so light. All the interior is gutted (every single panel), just a drivers seat left. This thing probably only weighs 3,000 lbs if that.
@NedacFilms i ment 09' it was a typo idk how many times i have to say it
Does Nat still have that car? I ran him in 98-99 in a white Cobra. I wonder if he remembers that.
+Cobrafanatik22 No he sold it around 2004-2005 I think it was. He had two orange LX models. He had a '92 model I believe it was in the late '90s and someone burned it to the ground. Then he bought a black LX with yellow Saleen stripes down on the rocker area and painted it orange like his first one, that was around 2000-2005 I think it was. Then he got a black GT (I have a few videos of that one as well) that bitch ran strong, lol. The orange LX in the video went through many transformations. The first motor he blew up with Nitrous, then he put another one in it with stock heads, E303 cam, bolt-ons, 4.10s, etc. It ran decent, then he installed Cobra/GT40 heads, Cobra intake, 1.7 rockers and full bolt-ons and Tremec tranny.... it ran damn good, lol. He swapped a few different motorsport cams in it. Then he put another motor with a stock cam and GT40p heads, lol. I wonder which LX and combo/setup you ran back in the day. That's cool as hell though, lol, I'm sure he remembers.
I'm sure he does. I was in a white 98 cobra. Now that you mentioned it I do remembered his car getting burned up. I also remember that loud maroon BMW he had. I'm pretty sure I ran the lx in the video but just not sure which combo though. Good memories lol
Cobrafanatik22 In my opinion it ran it's best right around 2002 I believe it was, that's when him and Bobby installed the heads, intake and additional bolt-ons. They worked all weekend getting it finished up and I remember cruising up to Inca trail in Shawnee Land the night they were finishing it up so I could be there for the startup lol. Couple days later he came by my house and we went for a ride looking for a garage/shop to rent. It ran strong. I think that was the best it ran but he might disagree. How did the '98 Cobra do against it? That might tell the tale of what combo it had at that particular time. I remember the BMW I think.... wasn't it an old M3 model? Do you still have the '98 Cobra? what a sweet car man, I love the SN95 Cobras! He also owned a white '95 Cobra back around 2007, after the 383 Malibu.
No I was young young then. 18 19 years old lol It was my parents cobra but I was always out with it every weekend. They have since gotten rid of it. I think the beamer was an old M3. His tale and my tale of the race would go differently hahahaha We both lined up at a dead stop on 340 at Marlowe Rd. and I wasn't ready so he got me. He took off spinning and got me pretty good. I was bogging in first gear but once I got the rpms up I was screaming. I went by him right when I shifted into 3rd gear and then I hit 130mph in 4th when I let off. We get back to Martins parking lot (where we all hung out) and he said that he got me in the 1/4 but I definitely got him in the top end speed. I've always said that there was no way that the quarter was over because I shifted into 3rd as I passed him. Oh well. We never ran again after that but a few times we would catch each other out and about and we followed each other around. He definitely had a good time in the orange lx.
More cubic inches to work with and they are lighter in weight and make massive amounts of torque... I think now that the newer modular 5.0 engines are becoming abundant that we will see a huge movement of coyote swaps going in everything. The "only" downside is that the Ford modular motor is so wide, it makes it harder for some applications compared to the GM engines.
@NedacFilms i ment 09' sorry i have said it like 10 times it was a typo
Did anyone notice how the hood pins barely kept the hood down on the fox ?
I own two Mustangs... a 1989 Fox-Body with under 30,000 miles and a 1994 SN95 project geared towards Road Racing... both are recreation vehicles that are driven for fun on weekends. I as well as many others don't buy Domestic performance cars for the gas mileage... we buy them to go fast, replace drugs or alcohol or just a straight up toy. Either way, my cars produce 300 lb ft of torque and get over 20mpg on the highway.
@1qwkgoat 10 years ago you'd see the Fox-Body 5.0 Mustangs everywhere... nowadays you don't see them as much. Same as the IROC-Z Camaro. These days when I see either of these cars on the road I jump up in my seat and look and admire, because its not usual that you see them everyday like a few years ago. Hard to believe these mid '80s American Ponycars are over 20 years old now. I'll be 40 years old next month, so these model cars are very dear to my heart.
But I LOVE 05-06 LS2 GTO's maybe more
@kflategra He was referring to another post some time back... not this LT1.
@1911harbinger It is a FORD would expect anything better?
just like a ford FIRST ON RACE DAY !!!!!!!
grumpy mosteller More like Found On Road Dead
My 89 GT popped the clutch the day I got it.......
More mods then the other car on race day.....LMAO
Yes two iconic cars BUT. CZcams stock bottom end record.. sorry, well kind of...
i love it
@NedacFilms The 87-88 thunderbird had 4-wheel disc brakes as well as programmed ride control with power everything while being as fast as the 5.0's with a turbo 4
I love how the mustang driver chills once he's pullin away!!!
Lol
@@nedaCFilmsMAN IT'S CRAZY TO THINK THAT A CAR WITH JUST 225HP WAS A FAST CAR BACK IN THE 90S LOL I LOVE MY 87 MUSTANG GT AND MY VIBRANT RED 93 COBRA.
@@nedaCFilmsBACK IN THE DAY ESPECIALLY IN THE SUMMER TIME YOU CAN HEAR A 5.0 FOXBODY MUSTANG JUST BY THE EXHAUST TONE LOL YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO SEE IT.
@@anthonylaudano9435 it was that 300lb-ft of torque in a 3,000lb car that made them so quick.
I believe Ive seen both the SN95 and the Fox before in previous videos, but would definitely like to see more of them.
Tomstorino there is plenty of inline 6s out there, plenty worth mentioning. Also, to original poster, great vid I can feel the love for cars. Subbed
Actually this clip and point in time it didn't have those mods. I believe if my memory serves me correctly, this wasn't the GT40 headed, E-cam and intake setup from the other vids. This setup was basically a stock engine with very minor bolt-ons like cold air, full exhaust, underdrive pulleys and gears. But, the car is completely stripped and weighs under 2,800lbs... which is why it pulls so well up top, it's completely cutted with only a drivers seat, lol.
@peterbloss read descriptions for dang sake...LOL!!!
Exactly.
...also, with all due respect, if you think this car is camming, I want you to watch the latest video I uploaded a few days ago and tell me if my red 5.0 SN95 is camming... and it's the same exhaust as this car, besides a different tone because this has X-pipe and I have H-pipe. I swear to you bro, the orange car doesn't have a cam yet in this video... I have other videos of it with an E-cam and an F-cam, but this particular time it had the stock stick.
@NedacFilms haha I feel ya... I might check that out. And I bet that their is a bunch of blogs/articles about it all over the internet.
it so gunny the way that dude drives hes holdin on to that wheel with a bear hug looks like hes just tryin to hang on LOL
yea second time watching, good races. from a stop.
He even has that lean!!👍🏼👍🏼
@NedacFilms oh i didnt know that but yea they are all 09s it was a typo my bad man
This Fox-Body is completely gutted on the inside too... no passenger seat, no back seat, no interior panels and no carpet or sound liner/insulation, lol. It probably weighs around 2,800-lbs.
It's in the video description... (show more)
the mustang is a 5-speed? he launch in 4th with his arm out the window?
Nice looking mustang ouff
@ftsk420 i ment to say 09 u can look on here and see i said it like 10 time it was a typo i ment they are all 09
I own both a 95 LT1 with a built 355 and a 89 mustang convertible mustang with a built 331 and both are equally fast. Only 1-2 tenth of a second separate the 2 cars on a good night at the track. Meaning cool weather, prepped track, low humidity, high barometric pressure in the air, blah, blah, etc. Now between both my cars I like driving the Camaro because it is more comfortable. Other than that I can't decide which one I would have to get rid of once the time comes. Both cars have positives and negatives which cancel each other out for them two become equal....
yea i have a mustang my dad has a camaro and my gf has a challenger all 07's and i love all of them they alll are awesome in places and bad in others
@331Grabber It wasn't me was it...LOL!!! ...I have a few videos of my old G92 Camaro 5-speed. You are totally right, the 350 cars could only be had with the auto, so if you wanted the manual and knew your way around the order sheet, you opt for the G92 version which triggered the bigger cam, 3.42 gears and a couple other items. They were really cool cars, that many gear-heads don't really know about.
I reply to every comment, lol... the 1st thing I do every morning before going to work is jumping on the computer, updating my websites (Mustang-Town and V8ponycars) and then going through my CZcams inbox. I enjoy hearing peoples feedback and love all American performance cars, and respect all performance cars in general. So stop on over to Mustang-Town, we'd love to hear more about your Bandit, lol... as a little nard growing up in the '70s there was absolutely nothing cooler than a Trans Am.
ahh. gotta love mustangs!!
I was talking about a vette when I put "I would have a hard time owning one! Lol sorry about that.
That depends. GN, Typhoon, and Syclone are all turbo V6 pushrods that came out in the mid-80's and yet they were beating everything out there, including exotic cars with turbo V8 multi-valves.
@NedacFilms I guess that depends on if they can fight or not.
@NedacFilms
STOCK weight:
Notchback: about 3150lbs
Hatchback: about 3200lbs
GT: about 3280lbs
GT Convertible: about 3400lbs
Notchback Coupe without backseats/passenger seat = about 2950-3000lbs
That’s my boy driving
@NedacFilms sounds like the stang doesnt dig till 3rd
It's a personal preference. I like pushrods over multi-valve. You get gobs of torque at a very low rpm.
@NedacFilms: lol Finally! Someone with some sense. :)
love the driver of the stang :)
My buddy Nate. He truly is the epitome of a motorhead lol. He has owned more badass muscle cars & hot rods than #JayLeno I think lol.
It is kind of weird how a car from the 80's is considered a classic. In all actuality you are right about there being seeing a lot more 10 years ago. I'm a gm guy for life but even I would have a hard time owning one because you them so often. I like to be different and that's why I bought the 06 gto back in 07 because you never really see them anywhere.
agreed 100%
@NedacFilms yes, for the most part.
was that a stock 5.0
Good race...not many things better than a good Stang Camaro/ T/A race.
thats a clean ass foxbody
good thing you have hood pins
@Feenyxxx95 ment 09' sorry typo it happens
nice vid, that stang needs some drag radials to hook
@Brendon00000 ...also, if people would take a sec and read the video's description, they would understand the video.
Where is this mustang town? I got a 78 Trans Am that needs to show them whats up!
That's a nice 5.0
Used to be black i think but yeah nice quick too
He said see ya..........
damn that stang walkin the dog on em
More mods than a stock car will do that for you. But go ahead and beat off to it though,,,lol
did anyone notice that the hood on the mustang almost lifted up? Nice one for the 5.0
