Far Cry 2 was so ahead of it's time, engine wise. Dunia was amazing.
Dunia is actually CryEngine, only tweaked for fc games.
Fc2 has best trees physics, fc3 has shity, fc4 has nice trees physics, fc5 has no tree physics, fc6 has fine trees physics.... I dont know how the fock ubisoft do that. Fc games need blood and gore like rdr2 and better ragdoll physics. Fc 3,4,5,6 has trash ragdoll
@@namgunaucao9771 fc2 has the worst gameplay in the series. the game is just so fucking boring. the other games may lack the attention to detail far cry 2 had, but at least they are wayyyyy more fun to play.
@@Sh0ckV If I played it in 2008, 2009 you wouldn't say stupid things like this now. gunplay in fc2 has the best feel in the entire series. empty map, no npcs, enemies everywhere, few animals, boring missions... but fc2 is still the best if ubisoft knows how to take advantage of it. ubisoft always makes good stuff and turns it into trash day by day.

but yeah the game is ahead of its time details, physics and graphics wise. gameplay wise its actual garbage.

It actually needs a reMAKE if anything.
Mind you, only simply changes and additions: Make the Stealth better, patrols not nearly as aggressive so that using busstops isn't mandatory just to make progress, fix villager AI so people don't randomly assault you in safe zones, give the wildlife a massive buff so there are actually predators and prey animals you can interact with in one way or another, stuff like that. I absolutely wouldn't want them intruding on mechanics like the blood diamonds and how scarce they are or gun condition.

Far Cry 2 still has the best fire in any game
games more and more colorful and euphoric, but with less details and soul, it all comes down to making call of duty with different themes
7:50 Actually FC2 have animation for this but you need take crit damage (just like special healing animations)

The foilage in FC 2 was definitely better. You can see leaves burn off trees when on fire and you can shoot a bush to destroy it.

Don't let the video fool you, Far Cry 2 had attention to detail yes but it was only to futureproof it. I'm playing it as we speak (yes, I'm playing a 2008 game in 2023) and it does feel outdated and clunky in most of its runtime. It's clunky, empty, has long stretches of driving and has no fun purpose to be had other than immersing yourself in the african savannah which in itself is a great setting. It's not exactly a fun game to play and get lost in compared to Far Cry 6 of course. But I'd go as far as to say that Far Cry 2 (with all its dated nature and clunkyness) is the true Far Cry experience of the series!
The only advantages the recent games have is their advance in graphics and resources of the PC (both being linked), none of which have something to do with the company putting attention and real care to make a good game.
The rest, like the "emptiness" feeling as you described in Far Cry 2, was a decision the team of developers made.
The fact your weapon could break when you used it for example was a choice of the team, something a lot of people who liked the recent Far Cry would hate, but it's coherent with the Africa/poor/survival atmosphere of the game. It's the same for the atmosphere of the rest of the game.
When this game was released, they totally had the money, resources and time to make it like the style of the recent Far Cry. But they didn't want to.
And I'm sorry but I prefer a game like Far Cry 2 where you get to appreciate more the realism and the sudden event happening on the road than the fake "fullness" of the game by having camps to conquer or boring mission you can find here and there.
And as one comment I saw on another video brilliantly said, which sums up perfectly the direction the series has taken: "The difference between Far Cry 6 and Far Cry 2 is that one looks realistic while the other is realistic."
