Far Cry 2 an open world first-person shooter developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft, takes place in late 2008 in a small, failed Central African state, currently embroiled in a horrible civil war. The government has recently collapsed, leaving two factions vying for control. At war are the United Front for Liberation and Labour (UFLL, led by Addi Mbantuwe, a former opposition leader) and the Alliance for Popular Resistance (APR, led by Oliver Tambossa, Chief of Staff for the former government). Both factions have claimed to have the people's interests at heart, but both have shown ruthlessness, warmongering, greed, and a general disregard for the well-being of the people. Both sides have hired many foreign mercenaries to bolster their strength over the course of the conflict. The recent exhaustion of the nation's diamond mines has thrown the nation into further turmoil, leaving many foreign mercenaries without payment and no way out.
The goal of the player's character is to find and assassinate the Jackal, an arms dealer who has been selling weapons to both sides of the conflict. The player must accomplish this goal by whatever means necessary, even if he has to succumb to the immorality of the warring factions and the Jackal himself.

Missions have no variety, malaria is annoying, stealth is unviable and the worst of all: driving, 8/10 of the game is just you driving around this huge map to do the same type of missions.
The listed height of the character you choose at the beginning affects your first person perspective throughout the entire game.
Funny how with all this new technology we have, Ubisoft NEVER brought this much detail in there games. What a shame.

I played so many times the game so, i know that they will try to kill me in the final part of the game so i killed every budy, so in that part nobody try to kill me XDDDDD it was an 201 IQ movement of an 9/10 old kid
This game was ahead of its time with some of its mechanics, and even today 2019-2020 you still dont see some of these features used.

this game does that feeling of dirtiness really fuckin well, its like the madagascar sections in uncharted 4 where everything feels like it should weapons look dirty, your vehicle and the enemy's vehicles look all worn down, it just adds to the immersion that I'm in that country

I also really loved that you could cause accidental wildfires and die in them if you don't pay attention to the wind!

Combat in this game was intense. I remember when I started yaing headphones in this game and I was attacking a base and had to retreat. A few enemies pursued me sonic hid in a bush and could hear them rustling the leaves and grass around me.
It may not seem like much today, but I think I'll always remember that.

Man , It was so hard to see Quarbani Singh pass away . When I first played the game , he called me to rescue him . Having played other games which always highlight your foes and allies in some way , I went in to save him but shot everyone at sight in low visibility conditions . Including Quarbani Singh . Much much later I realised seeing his status written as 'Mercy killed' and I felt so bad .

I love how far cry 2 are detailed, that show the more human side from both enemies and allies, so player feels they killing not robot, but the real human being. Why they remove this kind of detail in the later game is still questionable, but i can say far cry 2 are their masterpiece, that many reviewer use it as comparison from both newer and older game.

My dad and I built so many maps for this game, and it's limited nature made for some really unique out of the box thinking. Like I had flooded towns, caves, archipelagos, etc.

You could feel that developers were making them with passion. Now when you play games most of them lets you feel like only thing they really cares about are money.

Very interesting is also watching progress of Mafia game series.Mafia 1 had so many mechanics advanced for it's time,but most of them died as the series was progressing.
It was a 3rd person shooter from 2002 and your car could run out of fuel,you could scroll down/up windows,shoot a handgun as a driver or a big gun like Thompson as a passenger,turn on/off the motor and headlights.And story was just fantastic.
What i also loved so much about many of these old games was immersive music. It really added more feeling to the game.
If you havent played these games yet then you should.I guarantee you that you wont regret it and you will most likely experience some of the best gameplay you have ever experienced in games.
2008 was the last year AAA open world games embraced fun physics interaction, GTAIV, Far Cry 2, all had very fun and interactive physics systems, then everybody deemed it “overblown” and “unrealistic” and just like that our toy was taken away never to be returned again.

I miss those days. Most AAA tittles are so lazy these days. Far Crys ever since 3 have been pretty much just reskins of 3 with few additions and different stories and settings what is funny thing to be said about a franchise but seeing how 1st 3 Far Cry games were so wildly different from eachother its sad to see the stale state of the franchise these days. Personally i love to see franchises do something different with each game in them.

I even did jobs for him no matter the case.... then it happened.... he was too wounded... and wasn't getting up.... i didn't want him to suffer... so i pulled my gun. And shot him.... felt like shit afterwards

It was some kind of a warrior woman, i don't even remember her name (y'know, all those generic mercenary NPC teammates, all look pretty much the same, all expendable, and heck, you can even be any of them yourself... and then another bunch of them comes into the scene...) She took me half-dead out of the mess so many times... I kinda even reallystarted to think of her as of a trusty battle comrade... And then once she got shot toobad, or maybe i got to her too late, i dunno... I used one syringe, but it wasn't enough, and then another one, butstill no effect, then the other one... and then i finally realised that it was not healing, but just a way to help her pass away in a drug bliss without pain... I have totally forgot that it is actually a possible variant of mercy kill, and that i already saw that in "Save Private Ryan" (i think) or some other war movie, and i never thought that i would encouter that in a videogame, and for sure i wasn't ready for this at that moment... I was so shocked when it was all over that i just stood there and didn't know how to react... And even if this game has manual saving, and i replayed that, it never felt the same working with that buddy since then...
This game is full of boring things, it has quite an unusual ending, and a few more "dramatic" storyline twists, but i think morphine euthanasia is the strongest and strikes you when you least expect it - and the first person perspective only makes it even more intense.
Here's something I found out years ago playing FC2. At the demilitarised towns, if you piss off a guard enough, they will shoot you after a while. I kept walking into one, pestering and bumping into him nonstop. He warned me over and over again, and finally after a while got so pissed off with me, that he drew his gun and shot me point blank. I did not expect that.

Jamming was funny in the game cause you could totally avoid it by having new weapons anytime you pass near a gunshop, but nope, people would just use the old AK from the dude they killed that keeps jamming and explodes
I remember, the first time I played this game. It was late night I was high and I was driving in the jungle looking at the map on the dash and looking around with my mouse and boom.. at this moment .. at this exact moment I got TOTALLY immersed in the game. Everything around me, the real world wasn't there anymore. I was in the game, I was there, I was there man. Just like a VR experience I guess? It was a weird but really good feeling. And to be honest, after that night it never happened again in any game.

I had a similar experience in my (at the time) heavily modded skyrim. I was high, came home after a night out. It was winter and I opened the window to let some air in. I was so high, I forgot to close the door and played skyrim in the cold. Was quite... immersive.

There's also those kickass healing animations, or vehicles paint wearing down and the fact the grass and individual branches of trees are physics based, idly swaying only to flail back and forth away from explosions and in response to strong weather, and almost every individual branch being able to be shot off or burnt down. It's absolutely insane how much effort was put into the game's atmosphere and details
im never bored watching this fantastic details , cause in that year , its really rare to find something amazing like this game
They worked so hard on details so they forgot adding a story.

That's one of my main problems, i just feel the story is a bit too... short.. like i don't want to be some gun toting messiah, i'd rather play a story where you're just another forgotten faced mercenary, but like.. i feel like you should.. not necesscarily have an impact on the world, but like something like the nemesis system from SOW but you're not as involved yknow?

Literally my only 2 problems with this game and they're with the weapons.
1.All the rifles/pistols are left handed for whatever reason
2. These pistols can somehow fire with the hammer decocked.

3. This game never recieves the love it deserves from Ubisoft and we'll likely never see a remaster.

Never had a problem with the guns beigm left handed given that those guns are knock off of real guns.

Ahhh, a time when devs seemed to care about the little details to make games that much better. Imagine if devs put that level of care and detail in their games nowadays. So few do now.
I agree. Although there are still beautiful games like RDR2 that have those details, most games sadly don't.
Honestly assassins creed origins has more details then assassin creed odyssey.
All I can think of is Naughty Dog and Rockstar who put their passion into games.

I remember FarCry 2, Dead Space 1 and Fable 2 was released on the same day. Best weekend ever ❤
Man Fable TLC and 2 were great... Then Microdicks fucked it up by making them release a kinect and an online game instead of letting them work on Fable 4. Then they closed Lionhead studios for good because they weren't generating enough money.
I loved the fable series. always wished I could see some epic remaster or reboot of the original concept. The boast system in the first game was kind of awesome but it never made a return.

CPTNSHINYSIGHTS definately. 2 was not what it was promised to be, and 1 is great, but looks like old WOW, but it's still great fun, a little basic for 2 at times, the game can be pretty short.
This game is 10 years old but it is the best far cry for me
The thing funny with Far Cry 2 is that is so different from all the other Far Cry, is a great game on its own, but it does not feel like a part of the series due to a lot of the game mechanincs implemented
