    Where Narendra Modi claimed that he coined “Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam”. It’s even laughable when he says Indira coined this. This is ancient Sanskrit. This phrase existed for 1000s of years.

    Great interview. I lost Mr.Baru at 1:00:40 when he says that Hindus need to have more tolerance and accept other religions. He also spoke about the need to address Caste. The latter is a work in progress and I believe we have done a lot from a societal, legal and governmental point of view, although more needs to be done. I disagree entirely on the issue of religious intolerance. Religious intolerance is at the core of all Abrahamic religions. It is their way or the highway. The rise of Hindutva is a response to the rise of pseudo-secularism and appeasement / vote bank politics. Indian tolerance does not come from the Constitution but from the core values of Hinduism

    • @jacobcheriyan
      @jacobcheriyan Před 10 měsíci

      All upper caste Hindus want to settle in the West especially the US which is dominated by Abrahamic religion. How many Hindus are persecuted there or temples burnt down? Neither are the Hindus put to any difficulties in Arab countries. Can you say the same about our country. What is happening in Manipur is a classic example. Hundreds of churches have been burnt and thousands displaced. Two women were gangraped and paraded naked. And, you have the audacity to say intolerence is at the core of Abrahamic religion and Hinduism is all about tolerance.

      Totally agree .... but I wouldn't take these 2 individuals seriously at all.

    • @jatinderbhan
      @jatinderbhan Před 10 měsíci +10

      @@jacobcheriyan ...it is not just the so called upper caste Hindus who want to settle in the West, but anyone who is educated and who gets a chance to migrate does so. Amongst the Hindus the Upper castes have had the advantage of having access to better schooling, etc. No doubt about that one. When I talked about the inbuilt intolerance of Abrahamic religions, I was looking at the issue through the prism of history. The depredations that native populations all around the globe have suffered at the hands of Christianity and Islam is astounding. It took 50 years for the vatican to pass a papal edict back in the 16th century that the natives of Latin America were humans with a soul. Until that time they had been hunted down ike animals and were raped, pillaged and killed at will. Then we have our own Portugese pograms along the West Coast of India. You, if i may hazard a guess, are a product of those very inquisitions and conversions. Yes, I am not physically harmed in my new home in the west, but subtle and not so subtle discrimination continues to exist, especially in small towns. And the underlying basis for this discrimination and othering is faith. Because I don't follow the "One true Lord" !!! I have been told that openly.
      Mr. Cheriyan....you cannot deny the fact that salvation according to Christianity is through Jesus and no one else. Everyone else is destined to go to hell. This may not be shouted from pulpits in modern times, but no one has come out and repudiated that principle. The same applies to Islam. Anyone not believing in Allah and his prophet is a kafir and will burn eternally in hellfire. Especially those who are Mushriks (idolaters). There is no sin worse than idol worship! Islam has taken the First Commandment of the Old Testament to a new level! It is in this context that I said what I said. In contrast, Hinduism has varied ways of worship. You can worship The Divine in form, without form, in a feminine or masculine form or animal forms. Pure paganism, but it works. Find me a statement like "The truth is one but the wise describe it in different ways" in the old or new Testament or the Quran!. A Shaivite does not go out and hack a Vaishnavite or a Shakta and vice versa. It was in this context that I said that Hinduism is tolerant. Not in the French sense of Liberte, Fraternite and Egalite (pardon me for not being able to type the diacritical marks). Hopefully, you get a sense of the source of my audacity!!
      Best....

    • @jacobcheriyan
      @jacobcheriyan Před 10 měsíci +1

      @jatinderbhan , we're talking about contemprory times and not olden days. Every religion has its share of dark history and hinduism is not an exception. Don't you know wars between Shaivites vs Vaishnavites? Each sect believed the more number of garlands made with the skulls of other sect was a mark of chivalry. This was before the Brits its brought them under the umbrella of Hinduism.
      Discrimination, untouchability casteism is still rampant in Hinduism. You are offended by remarks made by some presumably in the country you live in. You subtly mentioned that people of upper caste have had the advantage of better schooling. Agree. But for centuries you guys did not allow other castes even to educate themselves. Even today we're sharply divided by casteism.
      Does persecution and burning of places of worship happen in other countries like what is happening in our country. You were silent about that question, Sir.
      Another point I would like to make is, Christianity is older than it is in the West. To believe Christianity came to india only after the invasion of Portuguese or after East India company is just figment of the imagination of many. The religion in India is as old as the religion itself. St. Thomas came to our country in the first century itself. There are seven and a half churches built by him in Kerala and San Thome Church which is a Basilica are evidences.
      Before that we were all Hindus too. There is a saying, Indians are truth seekers. We accepted Christianity because we found the truth. Accept what you said that Christianity believes Jesus is the only way to salvation. Yes. All others said this is the way and that is the way. Whereas He's the only one who said, "I am the way'. "Nobody goes to the Father except by me". I am the bread and life". He's the only one who preached love and gave His life so that we can live. He was willing to forgive even the ones who mocked, whipped and crucified Him. Even at the point if death, He prayed, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do". He did not carry any lethal weapons like how many Gods are depicted. His preaching, practising and demonstration of love was so overwhelming that we succumbed to His love. His preaching ministry is what brought education and His healing ministry brought healthcare to all without any discrimination which was unheard of until then. Can any other religious groups say they were the first ones to start destitute homes or orphanages? How many started treating lepers? Mother Terea's service in Calcutta and the demonstration of her love for destitues, poor and the marginalised is unparalleled. Her only intention was to give destitues dignity in death.
      From your reply and from your dignified language, I believe you are a person of conscience and compassion. The issue that I highlited is the persecution happening in our country which has escalated under the presesent dispensation. If such incidents are happening in other parts of the world it is equally condemnable.
      Its not right to do such things and if you're a person living outside India, please raise your voice against such violence. Our country, for long has been known for peace, non violence and harmony. Never justify what's happening here, especially in Manipur, Sir.

    • @jatinderbhan
      @jatinderbhan Před 10 měsíci +7

      @@jacobcheriyan …I am in agreement with your statement that we need to condemn these acts, unequivocally, in and outside the country. I am from Kashmir and I would have liked the same support and concern from people like you when we were hounded out of our ancestral home of a few thousand years. It seemed the collective voice of our liberal conscience keepers somehow stayed mute.
      I am glad you have found the route to salvation. You are, through your long sermon, confirmed my statement about your sense of superiority about your faith. You tend to see only dark things in Hinduism, while bathing yourself in the glory of christ.
      I do agree that we should have mutual respect and acceptance of each other’s belief systems. Let there be a spirit of Sarva Dharma Samabhava! We have each said our piece. I will not respond further. May peace and tranquility prevail throughout the world! Hari Om!

    Hey Barkha Di,
    I've got to be honest - I used to think you were one of those reporters with biases and skewed perspectives, thanks to some not-so-great experiences with your news media. I've always preferred news outlets that keep it real, presenting facts without pushing any hidden agendas.
    But since stumbling upon your CZcams show, I've genuinely enjoyed your videos. I appreciate how you approach interviews with a neutral stance, covering both sides of the story. I'm glad to admit that I was wrong about my initial impressions of you.
    Keep up the great work and stay independent!

    Physical Infra, Digital Infra - On both these counts, the transformation of India since 2014 is beyond imagination.
    There are other areas that have seen transformation - 2004-14 hardly any defence procurement happened and in specific instances like Air force squadrons kept depleting - neither MMRCA not LCA moved, now both are adding squadrons (this was just an example but is true of many other areas of defence procurement)

    1) full credit to Mr Modi / Mr Shah for being perfect judge of people and their characters , who has to be given a position and who has to be ignored ,
    2) The Indian left ( pre 2014 people in power were all left ) cannot digest that the Hindu / Sanatn Dharam middle class is asserting itself they’d rather have them buy Bollywood tickets and vote broken to throw up coalition nonsense
    3) India is growing because of Hindu majority , maximum tax payers are Hindus , beware of those who will divide Hindus on the basis of language and region.
    4) His political acume is either compromised or faulty if he thinks Bharat Jodi was a water shed ! Recent elections results prove that ,
