    You are a gifted teacher and I'm very impressed. I've had that Ryobi jigsaw for years and never paid any attention to all the features. Thank you for sharing your knowledge & I'm looking forward to being a subscriber. ( I just bought the Ryobi 10 inch table saw and have been staring at it for the past few weeks. It's a wee bit intimidating. If you ever feel like putting together a tutorial on the table saw that would be great!)

    This video is the best in You Tube , your instructions is so comprehensive, and details information we need for beginners like my self. I have been upset because I did not want to use Angle Grinder so I had no idea what tool there is I thought the only tool is a hand saw but is manual is so hard on my hand and difficult to work with. I have metal ,plastic, and wood to cut and I am a female and small build so I don't have much strength to use dangerous tools like angle grinder , I think tools have been made for men . Some are heavy and bulky. I have been upset because I thought there is no a tool like the Jigsaw could do the jobs DYI . I am so grateful for your video and your wonderful demonstration , you certainly have covered everything there is to know for a beginner . Thank you so much, and I am so grateful for your video. I am now feel the Jig saw tool is exactly what I need I feel confident to use it because of your video , I have seen other video and they are below basic. Yours is the very best video . The other best thing about it , I am a female and finding a video that is being demonstrated by another female makes it just fabulous and make such a difference in gaining confidence to use it . Your are wonderful , and you appear you genuinely care for the viewers and being engage with us to ensure we understand how to use a Jig Saw and with confidence .

    • @nilly-rosilly3347
      @nilly-rosilly3347 Před 4 lety

      MY REASON: I'm sick and tired of people asking me why I own all those power tools and why I spend so much time working with wood, building stuff when my husband should be doing it all, etc. (This, when they know that my husband is always in his workshop working on his own projects!) Some neighbors have irritated me with their biased comments and ignorant assertions! Therefore, I made it a point to emphasize my gender in discussions/comments such as the ones in this venue to encourage other women to do the same and to publicize the fact that there are many of us around.
      I recall all the crap that my uncle had to endure just bc he spent every day behind a sewing machine! He sewed living room furniture covers of all types that sold like hotcakes in his own licensed shop, and that's what he did for a living! And he was married, had 3 children, etc. and was very "macho," unlike what some biased jackasses assumed!
      If you wish to make YOUR own assumptions about the purpose behind what I did, that'll have to be on you! You have the right to assume whatever you wish, but I stated my reason for what I did bc I have the prerogative to do so as long as negative verbal projectiles continue to be thrown my way! I hope the day will come when I won't feel the necessity to do so anymore.

    I watched David Stanton earlier today demonstrating how to cut a curve. His workpiece was a large piece of 42mm hardwood. He turned pendulum (orbital) off. He made the point that the front hand is for holding the jigsaw down, not for steering it. He made a special point of explaining why he doesn't use dust collection. The rear hand steers the saw, and applies gentle pressure to move it.
    He showed the cut close up, it was straight and smooth.
    He's also made a workbench that you can place on the dining table. I won't scratch the table, and it won't move. It has a lot of dog holes, based on the Festool multifunction table (MFT).

    First of all your presentation on how to use a jigsaw was awesome! Being a new DIY’er I really appreciate your expertise. My first project is installing a cat door for an indoor doorway. I carefully leveled the template, then drew the lines. After drilling the lead holes as instructed I began to use my Ryobi Jigsaw for the first time. I’ll tell you…I’m still a little nervous but, getting use to it. My door in a metal one with foam insulation and has the square beveled panels. My cut started real smooth, using your direction for almost the entire top of my square template. When it got to the end the jigsaw kicked back and the blade broke. I diligently replaced it after removing the battery and started at another lead point from the bottom up the side. Again, pretty smooth until I got another kickback and broken blade. Then I almost got to the end of this cut and…you got it…kick back and broke my third new blade. I’m using blades that are labeled basic metal. It seems that when I get to the beveled portion of the cut this occurs. How can I cancel this kick back-broken blade curse??? In the end I used a reciprocating saw, which I never used before and got the job done but, not at neat and clean.

    if you lack having a dual cut blade and need a nice edge on the finished side of the piece you can turn the work piece upside down. the up stroke of the blade will give a nice edge. and thanks for posting this.

    Back in high school we used a cutting board with a bench vise - the board was basically a rectangle with a “v” cut out on one side - this allowed for the sheet to be cut to rest securely on the surface of the cutting board, allowing you to cut within the confines of the cutout V. I wish I remember what they called the cutting board!
    Also - though we worked with our bare hands back then - I would most definitely suggest a good pair of work gloves to avoid splinters and hot tool bits.

      AnneP makeupandmore just take the time to read the manual, watch a few videos and use a sacrificial piece of wood to practice , that way you will not waste a good expensive piece that can leave your project incomplete. Always start the saw BEFORE touching the wood, then slowly get to the beginning of your cut and move at a slow speed, keep the tool parallel to your piece and don't move too fast but also not too slow you get better with little practice. And please wear eye protection at a minimum and maybe a dust mask if you are going to be making multiple cuts. Good luck and happy project building.

    Thanks so much for posting this tutorial!! I've had a jigsaw sitting on my tool shelf for 4 years and have been very apprehensive about using it. I have limited use of my right hand and arm due to chemo and radiation therapies BUT given the information on your tutorial, I know I can handle this. I have been using hand tools to do DIY work but have just completed taking apart an old picket gate to upcycle it into a rustic American flag. Now with the information you've given me, I can see similar, smaller pieces in my future as well as something abit more advanced! THANK YOU!!! Sue
