  • On this episode we review what could be the perfect C60 Trident diver. The C60 Elite 1000, is a COSC certified Chronometer, Titanium diver with 1000m of water resistance from London based independent brand Christopher Ward. WIth their release of the Mk3 generation of their popular Trident line, they pretty much set the bar for Divers under $1000, they also have released high concept in-house variations with their C60 Apex Limited Edition clocking in around $4k. The C60 Elite hits a bit of a sweet spot between Ward's standard C60 and the High-end Apex, with the Elite model coming in at $1680 on Ti bracelet. The design aesthetic hits that magical target of being; Bold/Legible, Balanced, and Original. Then you pair with with its standout specs, all for under $2k and you have yourself a diver that competes and nearly bridges two different niches; one, the premium daily beater for high-end collectors and two, the attainable grail watch for us casual enthusiasts. Are their other watches in this space? Sure, but it's a rare air that they exist in and the C60 Elite does a play well in that same demographic. Let me know what you think in the comments below, thanks guys!

Really good, detailed review, thanks. I've liked CW watches from the start, especially the Trident, but for me there were always some design features I didn't like. They've addressed most of them apart from the Logo. They've experimented with it but I still don't think they've got it right. Having said that, I think this is the best so far and balances well with the day/date window. Still takes up too much dial real estate for me though. A C65 Dartmouth review please!

Considering it's their brand name and a key defining characteristic of their overall shared brand aesthetic, I don't think that's going to happen, especially considering they already sell out inventory as is. So if the brand name and placement can negate every single other quality of the watch, then you probably don't really want the watch in the first place. The changes they've made have only helped grow their brand to what it is today, so I don't think trying to make the watch look more generic would really help them as a business... but hey, maybe their design language will evolve into something you'd purchase in the future, they are always updating their lines.

Actually, titanium is a softer metal than stainless steel which is why it scratches easier. You said it correctly at first, titanium is strongest relative to its weight. Type 2 will scratch easily as anyone who has ever owned a titanium watch knows. This is really a great watch for sure but, just just realize with use, it's going to get scuffed up.

Okay, this is something that bothers me very much about people talking about titanium and steel in the watch community. Titanium is NOT harder than steel. At least not generally. Titanium is stronger than steel, yes, but that is not the same thing as hardness at all. Mild steel (steel that is not heat treated) IS softer than titanium, but once it has been heat treated, the vast majority of steel will be harder than titanium. Strength is an engineering sense is a combination of resistance to forces applied trying to break the material, not a measure of the hardness of the material at all.
In the case of 316 stainless, which is the most commonly used type of stainless steel for watches, there is very little in terms of hardness testing done on watches, so I don’t personally know if the titanium used in watches is going to be harder, but making blanket statements that steel is more scratch-prone than titanium is not accurate at all, and in fact most of the time it will be the exact opposite.

@@sheldonsplace4511 I have just had mine delivered, and it isn't quite the colour of stainless. Its Grade 2 titanium Its more common for watches to be Grade 5 which is an alloy and the grey colour

Faked out again. Clicked link. No vid. Just a “Premier Notice.” Cool, just like the Oscars. I’ll look forward to more waiting. Just what I need right now.

Had a few Quartz CW watches 6-7 years ago. They were crap.rubber bands broke one just stopped running etc. Gave me them away, even customer service was not much help. Fast forward to this.
Wow..... Not the same old stuff. I am really gonna look at this company again seriously. This piece is a homerun. I am glad to see it.

Who cares about acoustics of bezel turn? Are you turning that for pleasure on daily basis? It’s kind of weird...
