      @@imnotlettingyouseemyname Yep. It's so the driver can sit on that side and see the curb better if he's picking up trash from that side.
      You can't actually drive the truck with the secondary wheel, though. It doesn't have a proper accelerator pedal on that side, just a "go forward slowly" pedal.

    I lived in Portland for six years, and got so used to multiple bins (food waste/compost, recyclables, and trash) that when I first moved back to California, where I lived the rest of my entire life, I spent the first few weeks confused as to how to throw my trash out because there was only one bin.

      Pretty simple. Just dump everything in 1 until it overflows and if you have more leave it in your friends car or at the front of a store. Hope this helps!

      I lived in Japan and one time we messed up the trash and the whole neighborhood brought our trash bag back to our porch and made us separate it. Seriously 8-10 adults at my door saying “DAME” and giving me the 🙅🏼‍♀️🙅🏼‍♀️🙅🏼‍♀️
      Japanese trash and recycling trucks won’t pick up the bags for the entire neighborhood if even just one is done incorrectly. 🥲

    Not quite accurate. Portland still has a lot of catching up to do with food waste bins. (I stayed at Couch9, a corporate apartment downtown in 2020 and there was no bin to be found.)

    Save the earth more recycle bins more carbon footprint 2 extra big garbage trucks where only 1 was needed . Now green bin forced to pay for even if sharing with a neighbor Blue bin for some recycle items grey bin for land fill and many resent non recycle items was recycled before . No option to share with a neighbor reducing big truck stops this is California some counties can opt out of green bins .
