It's weird watching other people barrel race because it seems like they're so far away from the barrels. For some reason, my horse and I tend to hug the barrels.

I’m a little late but i’ve been barrel racing for about 6 year now and usually on the first and second my horse goes pretty tightly around them but coming up on the third we go more wide around the right side of the barrel

@@gerrycoleman7290 I had an awesome year!?!? I placed 3rd out of 20 people 😱 I even won a few classes! I gained back all my confidence back. 2021 race season can come lol

@@gerrycoleman7290 did NOT mean it like that. Both horse and rider put countless of hours last summer. The main horse is now 3D 2D. We started the season at 4d and we worked with a trainer and that is where we are standing as of this year.

She's really good, but I can't believe she's getting away with the hand thing lol. Fallon Taylor (world champion barrel racer) talks about it all the time, and if your a barrel racer yourself you probably get it lol. When you approach the barrel and you counter act the turn like she was with her hand, it generally encourages the horse to shoulder. We generally start the habit trying to prevent shouldering, but it only makes it worse. At least that's whats got me into so much trouble knocking barrels on my horses 😁

I don't use spurs or bits I just risk it I don't do barrel racing shows but I use a one reign halter and black boots with no spurs in sure my horse penny and chance like the big rush

Because that's how it started. In rodeo, women are the ones who barrel race, because it's the WPRA (Women's Pro Rodeo Association) that's over that event. But in the jackpot and futurity world, there are guys that do it, too. It's still mostly women, because many guys think it's a sport "for girls". If you want to watch male barrel racers, Lance Graves and Pete Oen are a good place to start.

I hate barrel racing, well I hate it when ppl use really big sharp spurs, use harsh bits, abuse their horse (s) and starfish and that’s hard to come across in the western world
I hate how whenever people think about barrel racing, they think about spurs and starfishing. It's really a fun sport, but horse abusers ruined barrel racing's reputation.
