    I can't think of another actor who had the skills that Cagney was able to do. Singing dancing, being the toughest guy in a pin striped suit. He was a one of a kind.

    What a actor, such charisma!!!!! His presence just makes the movie, how every line delivered is like he's living the role, absolutely timeless, what a phenomenal actor/human being!!!!

      In 1936 millions were starving and workless and their were wars going on around the world. The pro-fascist U.S. élite that had helped to fund Hitler had tried to replace its democracy with a Nazi-style dictatorship

    I love these olds movies and James Cagney so much. It’s also interesting to see all the small details from this time that are different from us today. I just noticed that when someone is getting in a car, they enter by the passager door and move to the driver place. It was more easy with the car seat of this time who were just a sofa 😂!

    Excellent actor, better person. Smart as a whip and looked after the girls on the lot. He invested money for them, real estate mostly. I met some of the ladies when they were very much older. He was hero to them. Him and Joel McCrae, they were the clever ones. They cared for the people they worked with.

    I totally like these Grand National crime movies, been watching them since I was a boy. Never stopped. I grew up and came of age in the greatest period of Music, Movies, & TV. There will never be days like that again. It great to be able to look back, though.

    When I was kid, I was hooked on Cagney, and Bogart movies. Cagney was unbelievable, he was so talented, they damn near typecasted him, but he was so talented that it couldn't be done. He was great in everything he did. This movie proves it.

    And still giving them that one sock I love it.
    Long long time ago when I first started watching James Cagney and he's pushing people in the forehead I started doing that to my boyfriends and my girlfriends when I'm like just get out of here get away and push him in the forehead and they're like WTF 😂😂🤣 loved those old day's..
    Really needed to watch this show and have a laugh the man I was dating for 2.5 years has passed away in his sleep.
    All I can say is luckily I was not up there to wake up next to a dead person I don't think I would have handled it very well.

    Interesting/informative/entertaining. This is an " Old Timey " classic 30-years before I was born-!!!😳. Enjoy viewing the cars/cash registers/deli scale/phones/gas stations & gravity gas pumps & the likes of that era -!!!🤗. Realistically portrayed citizens/criminals/law enforcement officials. Enjoyed the " End " clock -!!!🤗 How imaginatively brilliant-!!!😉

    I once worked as a weights and measures inspector for a county in California. We all watched this movie for "training". We had a lot of laughs.

    Always admired Mr. Cagney. I saw this when I was a young man, many years ago. "Alright, Alright Alright" lol very funny:) The part where his partner was telling a story to the girls about being surrounded and killed by wild animals .............that was taken and used in the 1955 movie "Battle Cry" when "Spanish Joe" was drunk and blowing smoke up the rear end of two old Australian salts, just as funny in 1936 as it was in 1955.     *Even those this movie was made 88 years ago, I was thoroughly entertained. That said, I was aware that crooked stores used to gyp shoppers back then, but just watching this dramatization still made me angry - long dead though the gyppers and the gypped were. Times haven't changed, just the nature of the crimes. Anyway, a wonderful glimpse into the distant past.*

    Some gas stations in Detroit could use a good calibration. Not all pumps have the state certification. I know this personally, being a Cab driver. The meter will jump .5 cents before you even start pumping gas.

    I love Jimmy Cagney. Overacting, exaggerating, larger than life . . . Just a great entertainer, no matter what he appears in. I bet he had a load of fun making movies and it comes across every time I see him.

      Loved him as Fleet Admiral Bull Halsey in
      "The Gallant Hours" (1959) a very underated Cagney masterpiece in my humble opinion.
      Very factual, the only artistic lisence they took was that they moved up the date of Adm.Yamamato's shoot down from April 1944' to Feb.1944'.

    The story still seems relevant. I’m guessing Johnny would find plenty to do nowadays. Although, they don’t bother with lead weights any more. They just charge more and give you less and they get away with it. Nobody does nothin.
