Brings back a lot of memories. My mom and I used to live in a cold water flat on Summer Street, right off of Market. Sand Hill park was in our back yard. My friends and I used to play in the train yards, the old post office building before it was demolished and all over the the train station. We had so much fun growing up in downtown Paterson during the 60's. Every Friday night my mom would drag me downtown to go shopping for what seemed like hours. I swear we hit every store on Market and then both sides of Main. We did a lot of walking back then because we didn't have a car but, most times we'd take the bus back home. Good times. My parents owned a restaurant on main and grand street in the 60s. They were immigrants from Germany...came here with nothing but found the american dream by hard work and will to succeed. They went through the war and went through hell...lost a lot of my family. All 3 of my uncle's went to war and never returned. My father was forced to go to service under hitler... thank God he made it back home. He was yugoslavian.. mom was german. Great people. Miss them terribly.

Damn where everybody at??? I lived there from birth until 33 then I moved to the Maryland Eastern Shore. Downtown used to be flooded with people! You couldn't even get into Broadway Pizza without bumping into somebody. This is still my city tho! Salute to all that lived there and still lives there!

Do you have any knowledge as to why so many building facades are blank/boarded up (Examples are the buildings on the left at 6:06 and 17:25)? They stick out like a sore thumb surrounded by those other beautiful buildings
This is where I live . It is a low income city and alot of stores come and go downtown. It looks like this video was shot early or late in the day as I see parking spots and usually it's hard to find parking downtown.
I've never been to Camden to compare it. It is what you make of it. I wouldn't want to walk my neighborhood at night. To much drug activity and people hanging out. Off the top of my head I can say 2 people were murdered a couple blocks from my house in the 13 years I've lived in my home here but my neighbors are friendly and no one has bothered me since I've lived here except to try and sell me drugs which I do not use or buy.
People talk so bad about paterson, without having experience there. It’s sad that people want the city to look bad. This is why stigmas and stereotypes ruin places.

We were also Yugoslav immigrants that lived on Spruce Street by Grand. Grandfather fought in WWII for Tito's Partisans.
