You know, the mindset, that troubles in Canada only started with Trudeau is one of the key problems of Canada.
It most certainly didn’t, however he’s been fuelling the flames for the last few years. The amount of immigration drives up the demand for basic living expenses, every year he cranks up the carbon tax more, sends billions to Ukraine, announces billions in new funding programs. He’s definitely making it worse for us when he doesn’t need to be.
They aren't applying logic and reasoning to the situation. It would take a trivial amount of research to figure out that the trend of rising cost of living started long before Trudeau. Left and right wing administrations alike have contributed to this mess.
These people don't really give a fuck, though. They're just cheering for their team.

You said at 12:38 that 7% of Canadians are leaving to the US each year, but the source you quoted clearly says ".7", i.e. 0.7%. If it was 7%, the population would be falling off a cliff. It's 1/10th as many people as you say.

I live in Vancouver and work an unionized job at a corporation. My hours have been cut from 40 hours a week to 24 hours a week. My latest pay cheque after all the deductibles was $743 for two weeks of work. Many of the local employees have been replaced with people from India without PR or citizenships.
I am applying for other jobs right now. Submitted like 100+ applications and only heard back from four.

@@varunchandra2991 They don’t have work permits. They are all “international students” who are only supposed to work 20 hours per week but get more hours than I do.
It’s just that their titles and pay rate are lower than mine. But we basically do the same things, which is customer service.

I've lived in Canada, Metro Vancouver area, back in 2017...it was already a bloodbath, now I see it's even worse.
I ran away and returned to Italy after 8 months, after I discovered I had to skip meals in order to survive, something I've never experienced here in my country as a former low income citizen. Never had a single regret.
I moved there from berlin at the same time as you and worked around east hastings street and it was hell on earth. Leaving that city was one of the best days of my life.

The cost of a permit in Canada costs as much as a brand new completed home in Florida, brand new... The bureaucracy has fallen in love with itself.

It is sad to see how hard it is to get things done in Canada whether that’s housing or new business. It never shocks me when my friends tell me they are moving to the States. The cost of living is lower and salaries are much more competitive.

The huge problem is Canada is the lack of competition. You can open a shitty restaurant chain like cactus club in vancouver, or a shitty coffee chain like blenz and still be a multi million dollar corparation. Yet you pay insane prices to go to these places. For instance in major cities like Istanbul, London, new york etc yes, you pay crazy prices but you are also eating at the best of the best in the world. The level of mediocrity is insane in Canada that charge insane prices.
This really is 100% because of government regulations/taxes/red tape. Big businesses love these as they can absorb these costs while smaller competators cannot, and it creates a huge barrier to entry for potential new competators. Many critics have voiced breaking up companies that have these huge market shares, but it would only be putting a band-aid on a gaping wound. Canada must cut taxes, re-regulate, and slash spending.

@@ahhmm5381 No, big businesses do not rule, the government rules. Government that pass laws benifiting big business do so for their own benefit. If the government - or particular politicans and administrators in governemnt - didn't personally gain from these kinds of laws and regulations, they would not pass them. The government wields the hammer, not big businesses.
I find it odd that you meantion corporate taxes, but to be fair, my comment was focused on the commerse side of things. Although I'm not against cutting corporate taxes, that isn't what I would suggest to address this issue at all.
As for taxes, I would cut property taxes. Canada has one of the most highest property taxes in the world and it's on the rise. I'd cut income taxes too. (Yes, these taxes effect the business sector too, as it is difficult for people to start new businesses when their income is bogged-down by high taxes) As for red-tape and regulation, that varies across industires and markets and provinces. But for starters, the cost of business licences should be cut. Also, all rent control laws should be abolished. Rent control disincentivises potential enterpreneurs from constructing new housing, not only causing stortages, but it actually makes it more difficult for affordable housing to be available. In addition, the approval process to build in Canada is way too long, often taking years to complete: this also discourages businesses from building, especially when prices for building materials isn't stable (which is the case today). This is part of the red tape that needs to be slashed.
There is much more that needs to be done, but I'm not writing an essay for you.

High property taxes seems more a symptom of high property values as opposed to the actual tax rate. Sure, you could lower the tax rate, but this doesn't solve the bigger issue of ludicrous property valuations, which totally bars young people from owning any property.
As for business licenses, aren't these usually 200 - 800$/yr? Is this really that backbreaking?
Removing rent control will solve nothing. It is already gone for new buildings in Ontario you know. No developer profits from a glut in housing, only the consumer. It is the government that needs to build affordable housing, as was done in the post-war period
I do agree the approval process is kinda nuts in some municipalities. Cities also have horrible single family zoning rules that needs to change.

As an international student going to Vancouver for university back in 2013, it was already bad then. I was astounded how many old buildings in Downtown Vancouver were being demolished in lieu of new land for apartment towers that promised "affordable housing" for the neighbourhood's old displaced residents, students or low income families. And yet these projects would end up being being rented out at a premium. Lots of shiny glass-fronted buildings for the few who could afford a place in them. Eventually I was lucky to find a basement studio south of the city center. After months of struggling to juggle my university expenses, services and rent (and the rain!) I couldn't take it anymore and noped out back to my country to finish my studies.
Stupidly enough too, my parents and I got a student loan from my country's government by mortgaging our house to the bank (horrible idea, I regret it every day) to go to study to Canada in the first place. I didn't use it all up, but long story short I'm now paying that loan back monthly. Still: even having to pay a monthly mortgage to recover the family home, it's still WAY cheaper than the total cost of living per month in Vancouver. Hell, it's even cheaper that just the rent by itself - and I'm talking about 2013 prices for a basement studio in the suburbs. Funny how life's plans change, in this case for the better (or at least making it not as bad as it would've been otherwise). My country might be a mess of it's own too, but I'm constantly thankful I'm not in BC anymore - even more so now that it's gotten worse. The city and Canada in general are beautiful, it's just that the "living" there isn't really living at all.

People in the comments saying the left Canada years ago, the overstating the degree of the economic issues, and finally complaining about “social policies” is pretty transparent. There are genuine problems but it’s pretty obvious a lot of people in the comments are intermingling their dislike of social policies of the current government with the economic issues.

As a Kiwi that has lived in canada for the last 18 months. I have found that all of this is true. New Zealand is reasonably expensive but canada is crazy, fruit and vege is outrageous. Phone bills, rent, used cars, all are far more expensive than home. Lucky they have good snow and beautiful views haha. 18 months was enough though, back to NZ

Man, I found living in Canada much cheaper than a few other places, and with higher literacy rates, less mass shootings, a better quality of life, and less violent crime than the states, Canada is a haven. But then again, I suppose if you compare it to Pennsylvania, it probably seems ridiculous.

Myself and most of my friends are in the top 1% of earners and we are nowhere near close to buying houses/apartments in Toronto and Vancouver. Our generation is truly in trouble.

Canada may not be going through the best times, but this video is oddly biased and contains some misinformation.
1) Right from the start, the first 15 seconds aren't 100% clear or transparent. While people in Canada do vote in federal elections, they are not voting directly for the Prime Minister. They are voting for Members of Parliament (MPs) from various political parties. The leader of the party that can command the confidence of the majority of MPs in the House of Commons becomes the Prime Minister. So it's not like people vote for one man, and that man then is solely responsible for everything good or bad.
2) Then you point at Sean Fraser with the "this guy" caption. This guy only recently became a housing minister, less than a year ago, you know. There's a whole government, and ministers change; it's not like some minister was "under-investing" for years. That's not how it works. And this new guy actually already negotiated a $4 billion investment for 750 thousand homes. I am not judging if that's enough or not, but it doesn't look like "nothing has been done" either.
3) Not everyone wants to buy a home... in Austin, TX. That's why the price difference. Similarly, there are lots of places in Canada where houses are way more affordable than in Austin. No one forces anybody to live in Vancouver or Toronto! House prices are influenced by supply and demand dynamics mainly. Take any other major big city in the world - same situation or worse.
4) Immigration is required to cover labor shortages (not only in Vancouver) and maintain the growth of economics (and create more jobs subsequently). Reducing immigration levels might alleviate housing pressure only marginally and it's unlikely to solve the housing crisis. Also, many people don't realize that without immigration, economic growth could stagnate, leading to fewer jobs and increased poverty, despite potentially lower housing prices. And who would build more houses if there's no demand?
5) As for the carbon tax - people get rebates. Hundreds of dollars as direct payment from the government. On a regular basis. So no need to complain about the carbon tax; that thing is quite balanced now.
6) Now about those banking fees compared to the UK and Australia. I can't say anything about the UK, but in Australia, banks seem to be way more greedy. In Canada, you can get 2-5% cashback on groceries, gas, etc. I'm talking unlimited cashback. And what about the banking fees? Typically a $16 CAD/month fee which is usually COMPLETELY WAIVED if you keep money in their savings account. Now go try to find something similar in Australia. You'd be surprised. Cashback is usually tiny and limited there.
The point of this video is for everyone to go elsewhere to live.
Besides, whether or not immigration is required, what’s being pointed out here is how quickly the population grew in such a short amount of time.
@@MrTylertherockstar indeed very quickly, I've checked, the highest year-over-year growth rate since 1957 (+3.3%). In the long run, that's awesome for the country, considering the all-time low fertility rate. But right now, it's definitely affecting housing availability. The government initially attempted to shift blame onto provinces and educational institutions, but it's taking steps now. The government's response is to cut down on international students by 35% and temporary workers by 19%, while also focusing on building more housing. But, that's not gonna happen overnight. These steps could have been taken earlier so I agree, it seems like a miscalculation. It will be all right eventually, I don't think the 'this country is doomed' vibe is justified.

I also knew someone who had cancer and he could have probably lived longer if the healthcare was actually accessible, he had to fly to India to get a surgery that he would have had to wait 6 months to get in Canada. It’s a real shame, I remember when Canada used to be nice, but it’s far from the Canada of today.

Exactly. Overall it's a place people want to move to because it's a democracy and there is still a lot more opportunities than in other places. Not denying that the cost-of-living crisis is pretty dire especially in the big cities, but Canada is in no way unique in that case ... same stories in the UK, in Australia, NZ ...
It's all Indians
Unfortunately, many of these immigrants (predominantly Indians) shouldn't have been allowed in to begin with. I'm not trying to be racist, but many of them masquerade as students and enter with falsified/forged documents. Since they tend to be uneducated, they only work in entry level jobs which does contribute to the economy, but takes away from the people already here since they're willing to take low pay and long hours. The whole idea behind Trudeau's immigration policy was to bring in qualified and educated immigrants which clearly has failed.

Canada hid its inflation in the housing market for a decade. The economy appeared to be growing, and real wages appeared to be staying in line with the consumer price index, but it was smoke and mirrors. If you removed real estate, GDP was stagnant. Wages were actually falling behind and people getting poorer and poorer without realising it. That’s finally become unsustainable, and inflation is showing up everywhere. And the wages are still stuck. The country is sitting on hugely valuable resources it could develop had it not put so many self-created political barriers in the way, and having indoctrinated their population about it along the way. Separately, The healthcare system is getting worse, consistently ranking 2nd last in the OECD in terms of real results delivered. The biggest problem is that the country’s economy is built on immigration to drive growth, rather than productivity, efficiency, or innovation. The more people you bring in, the more housing you need, but they’re at the point that they can’t keep up and people can hardly afford housing anyways. It’s a recipe for disaster. I left Canada by coincidence, having met someone from another country and moved there. I’m glad I left.

What do you mean by “real estate”? Not enough houses are bing built more so than anything. As for the natural resources that’s actually a problem because it removes investment in tech which is bad for long term growth. Additionally the resource sector is growing. For heath care on performance Canada tanks 8th of performance (ahead of France and the US). The reason housing is more expensive is due to inadequate supply as housing increasingly becomes an investment vehicle instead of a consumable, more so than increased demand. The immigration is not the problem, the lack of investment especially in tech is the problem. Canada need to strengthen intellectual property rights to help fix this, and provide additional incentives.

Here is the crux as I feel about it : Canada saw US making serious headways in growth due to its immigration policy. However, US scrutnizes like crazy whom they let in. They are very meticulous in drawing guidelines and reviewing them as to who comes in. And have been so for quite a while !

Born and raised Canadian and lived 22 years of my life in Canada. Left Canada in 2005 and till this date, zero regrets. I went for an academic internship in 2004 during my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering to University of Texas Austin. A professor offered me a position in his research lab for master's, so it was more like studying in US free of cost and earning monthly stipend for doing research.
I never considered this as permanent move but quality of research I did in US, the opportunities and salary I received I could never imagine that in Canada. I am still in touch with my university friends in Canada work at low wages on obsolete tech stuff, with no innovation at work. Many of them want to move to the US, but for 10+ years they worked on outdated stuff, so they cannot compete with the talent pool in US. Even in 2004, I remember healthcare being bad and I keep hearing stories about how worse it has become. In US, I am covered by a good health insurance, I had surgeries for myself and my kids, and we never had any issues. Honestly, I can no longer trust Canadian healthcare with insane wait times for my kids safety.
Wow, my American mom was refused life saving heart surgery by her longtime HMO she paid into through her employer for decades. They just CHOSE to refuse the surgery and she died. Just an FYI as to what you and your family might expect. Of course unlike Americans, you can choose to move back to Canada when the going gets too tough. And the going will probably end up getting pretty tough.

There are lots of aspects of life that will be generally easier in the US, but health care is not one of them. A quick story: I live in the suburbs of Toronto. Last year I was given a "FIT" test (to screen for colon cancer), which was abnormal so a colonoscopy was warranted, which revealed a malignant mass, which was biopsied, ultimately revealing I had colon cancer. Within a week I had a CT scan to ensure the cancer was only in my colon and, less than three weeks later, surgery (right hemicolectomy). So the total wait time was extremely reasonable.
I mentioned this to a very close friend of mine. He is a doctor, practicing in Virginia. He was amazed that I had no symptoms yet it was detected, and all my tests and surgery didn't cost a cent, and that it was taken care of so quickly. Maybe your insurance would have covered you too, but that certainly wouldn't be the case for every barista and Walmart greeter in the US. And it would be hard to get any surgery scheduled faster than that, in any country.
By the way, since last week I'm cancer free for one year! WooT!!! Go, Canada ... now if I could be as enthusiastic about everything else up here! I will be retiring in 8 months, and moving stateside.
It’s not that much worse generally. There is just a major shortage of family doctors at the moment. As for the tech, there has been very low investment over the last few decades (especially since the Nortel debacle).
So thankful to the United States for giving me the opportunity to leave Canada and pursue a better life here. I moved in my mid-20s and couldn't be happier with my decision. It always surprises me how few young Canadians consider this but just put up with their worsening living conditions in Canada. I hope a new government can come in a turn things around for my friends and family still living there.

Correction: Vancouver, while facing extreme difficulties due to a lack of affordable high-density housing, is doing a LOT to try and fix this in comparison to other cities in the infrastructure sector. Just over the last couple years, we've had some pretty extreme zoning policy changes, we have a yearly rent increase cap (which backfires once tenants move out, but that's another story) and we're building new transit infrastructure which now, legally, requires only high-density housing build in the surrounding areas.
The population growth here has wildly exceeded the amount of housing growth in the last few decades. Not to mention the insufficient wages, high cost of living and a broken healthcare system. Our people are struggling but if you have to live in a city right now, I'd choose the greater Vancouver area. Down the road, I see us improving the most infrastructure-wise out of any Canadian city, which will hopefully benefit social sectors as well.

If you thought only Canada got this problem , same problems here in Australia as well - housing affordability , rental crisis etc. If Canadian grocery prices are expensive, Australian ones are even more. Here also 2 super markets (Coles & Woolworths) duopoly and holding all market share and not much competition. Aldi is only a small relief.
I moved to Australia from Canada for 5 years back in my 20’s and it became a second home to me.
I love both countries, but it saddens me to see both heading down the same path.

I moved from Canada to Australia and I find groceries more affordable on average with higher quality produce. I also think eating out is cheaper as you dont have to pay tax and tip on top of the listed price. Accessibility to primary healthcare is also far superior to Canada. I am happy to stay and build my life in Australia.

I live in the UK and its a similar situation here. Buying a property (especially in the South) is so hard unless you come from money or have a really good job.

I own a mid sized home in northern BC, share a vehicle with my spouse, work 70+ hours per week (when there is work) in the energy sector, have a second job when I’m home, my spouse works part time. Last year we earned $130,000 combined, took one 4 day vacation and were living paycheque to paycheque. We don’t have drug or shopping addictions, our basic bills cost $7000+ per month, and we’re one of the lucky ones.

We've had bad governments come from both parties. I think a lot of Trudeau voters still vote for him because they want a conservative government even less. Whether that is a good decision is up to others to decide, but plenty of people simply don't want conservatives in power and see any other option as better. At this point I'm just jaded and don't feel there is any party I can put any faith in :'( I love Canada, but just like basically every nation it seems the folks who want to be in government are always the shittiest of the shitty. I moved to London, UK. Got a job in finance. Bought a house in Zone 2. Pricey but still affordable. But i can't now move back to Canada because the house to salary ratio is ridiculous.
Ya a lot of my friends work in IB/PE/HF in London or NY and many want to return but are struggling to rationalize it. There is a high cost of living but limited opportunities to make it work.

Boris Johnson used to present real estate to Indonesian investors first before Brits got a chance to buy it.

I came to Canada as an immigrant. I am very educated person and with multiple advanced degrees. I cannot make a decent living there due to discrimination at work and the gradual increase cost of living. I moved out of Canada to live in the States where I am making so much money and opportunities are plentiful. I wish for every Canadian who could move to the states, just do it.

I get where you are coming from. The truth is a lot of highly educated people are leaving Canada. I grew up in Canada and most of my friends who graduated in software engineering have left the country.
Obviously that is a small sample size but the empirical data suggests same. Most of my friends in finance have left. A lot of my doctor friends are also moving down south (ie my friend is a neurosurgeon and decided to practice down south).
It breaks my heart. But Canada has a major problem and it needs to be solved. Sadly, I don’t think there is leadership in any political party that can solve this.

None of what this video says is groundbreaking. If you're a young adult without rich parents, you've seen it.
Canada was only colonized by the Europeans for one reason: making money. There's not much here otherwise to attract people. It's too cold in most parts of the country for large-scale settlement, which was apparent even to the first French explorers. But there were extractable resources like furs and timber from which wealth could be made.
And that's the dark secret behind Canada: it's a place where the profit motive rules all activity. The only reason nobody noticed this was because the original British settlers were less diverse than the groups that settled the States or Australia, and this gave the Dominion a progressive veneer owing to their cultural cohesion. Those British colonists were mostly Quakers, well known for being more sanguine about profit than other Christians, which dovetailed nicely with British investment in Canadian industries.
What's changed is that extraction isn't as profitable anymore because most Canadian industries face heavy competition in their main USA and European markets from other countries. Now, the only lucrative extractable resource is consumption within Canada.
Why were four million immigrants brought to Canada? Because they would work the same jobs as native Canadians for lower wages, and therefore would part with larger quantities of the profits of their productivity. Why are rents skyrocketing?Because they offer attractive returns for very little investment. Money laundering? Ditto. And oligolistic market capture is also very profitable. Canada isn't a "post-national" state. It is a colonial remnant dominated by a small, incestuous elite of property owners and money fund managers, abetted by a gold digger Canadian government whose stinginess would ashame both Mr. Krabs and Scrooge McDuck. Changing from the Liberals and Justin Trudeau to the Tories and Pierre Poilievre isn't going to change this and will actually make things worse. Canada has an existential problem without an easy solution.
We were paying $950 for a decent sized 2 bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor near downtown Mississauga.....that was in 2012 after i left.... those days are long gone.

There's definitely a money threshold in Canada you NEED to make to .... have fun and live well. If you're a lifetime renter, or entry level worker.... it doesn't make sense. My family is established from previous happy decades. But even for us there is stagnation and living on savings (many family members moved back to EU, and I'm thinking of it as I'm fluent in many languages there). My children were raised in that atmosphere in the 70's and 80's, they roamed the neighborhood along with the rest of the children. All of them are happy, well-adjusted, self-reliant adults today. They are now trying to raise their children in this manner, however, are struggling to do this because of the restrictions put upon society today.

Unlike Americans, Canadians think they are "too cool" or "better than Americans"- they think that this quality in itself is sufficient to take care of their poor economy, inflation, and housing needs. What I also find, is that Americans are more direct in their communication rather than trying to be PC all the time, are more productive, and over all hard working. You would be surprised at the no. of Canadians on Disability or taking benefits from the government.

You are correct! Add to that the fact that in Canada freedom of speech is increasingly illusory, and has never existed to the extent that it has in the USA. Canadians vote for the Left on average 60% in every federal election. Canada is NO LONGER a safe place to invest your money. In 2022, Justin Trudeau showed that a Canadian government can seize your bank account and freeze your assets, simply for holding views that the government doesn't approve of. Canadians have also showed themselves to be the world's stupidest voters, putting into office Justin Trudeau three times in a row. Trudeau has gotten his biggest support in the big urban areas, which says something about the intelligence of the big urban areas.

Technically, there is a very large portion of Canadians have voted conservative but there are certain regions that are more important than others in order to secure seats in parliament meaning our election system is not entirely representative of the Canadian population. Most of those being around Toronto/metropolitan areas. Not to mention the illegal coalition alliance between the NDP Party/Liberal Party that have agreed to vote yes on all the same bills being pushed (these are suppose to be seperate parties) or blocking others together essentially creating a pseudo dictatorship against anything the large Conservative party does. Came here about 8 years ago from eastern Europe. Love it in Canada! It's not perfect, but again no country is. We enjoy the easy-going people, the feeling of freedom, and access to good jobs (doing much better economically than back in the old country) and the multi-cultural atmosphere . Many thanks to kind, open-minded Canadians who have made us feel at home.

Yeah I immigrated to Canada too, about 15 years ago. Loved it the first 10 years, then it all sucked. Canadians are as kind as they are stupid. And that stupidity is what led them to be where they are now. Glad I skipped ship when I did, otherwise I would have been stuck. I appreciate the passport, though. We are from Eastern Europe, too. This video is accurate, and Canada is much worse than when we came 8 years ago. However, I will be forever grateful to Canada, as I could earn enough money to open my own business and buy a townhouse, which would be impossible for me in Poland.I would never learn so much about other cultures and try food from around the world.

There are tens of thousands of Americans moving to Canada every year and most Canadians moving here are not necessarily because they are dissatisfied with Canada. I know lots of Canadians in California who moved here because it's warmer and they tired of the cold. In fact, I have never met a Canadian who said things are worse in Canada than here. All of them think Canada has a better healthcare, education system, nicer people, better government...

You've elegantly summarized why we moved to the US several years ago. We were not willing to take on the level of debt required to live anywhere near our family in the GTA. It's just been crazy to watch--home prices rising faster than people could possibly save, price to income ratios stretched to absurd levels, with homes in the GTA often going for hundreds of thousands over asking in high pressure bidding wars--a recipe for terrible decision making. Since leaving, we make far more, our money goes further in general, and there's a bright future for our family. The US has its own significant problems, but it's a great option for Canadians with in-demand skills and high income potential. Amusingly, Canadians may find they can live closer to their families back home by living in border towns than if they were to try to buy in Canada. Not sure how our leadership missed this crisis brewing in plain sight for over a decade, but right now, I don't see any meaningful progress toward fixing the crisis.

I'm thankful to have married a Canadian and although I love my mother country in Canada I had emergency services this last year that would have cost me around $500 thousand dollars. God bless Canada.
@@talktothehandreviews I think you mistake me for someone who absolutely loves the US. I don't. I think many countries have flaws, and it is okay for us to talk openly about this. Canada's problem is that it is losing productivity which can challenge it's economic prosperity in the medium-term (similar to what has happened to Italy or Argentina). However, I strongly believe that this shouldn't be the case and it is a byproduct of poor policy making.
I don't think Pierre P will necessarily solve the housing crisis -- in fact, I would go as far as saying he definitely wont. But I do believe he will do many things better than Trudeau, because I would argue that Justin is likely one of the worst PM's when it comes to economics. And that is coming from a guy (me) who is traditionally quite liberal. For example, I know someone who knows Justin reasonably well, and he told me point blank that "Justin might be the dumbest politician I have ever met." This same guy had wonderful things to say about his deputy prime minister.
The US healthcare system is an absolute shame. I strongly believe that people should not have to suffer economically for things they cannot control. In fact, I am planning a video on the US healthcare system.

I lived in canada for past 35 years. I am married with 3 kids. I work like a dog 60 hrs a week , i pay heavy taxes on my salary soo the government can give away hard tax payers money to people who scam the system. Examples are walfare and ontario works. I know people that get $1350 minimum on odsp and they are more than capable of working but choose to scam the sysytem collect free money and work cash jobs for less money and take away jobs from others. Hate this country now and cant wait to leave and shift else where were i can happily retire and watch my kids grow up and spend time with my family since everything in canada is soo expensive i have to work overtime and my wife also started working part time😢

One news says everyone is leaving Canada and no one wants to live here anymore. Another news says so many people want to come here desperately, especially international students, who would do anything to stay and make a living in this country. Same with USA, so many Americans are leaving the country too and yet the border is flooded with people more than ever.

This is true, many of my university friends have left Canada heading to places like the States and Singapore, you are severely limiting your earning potential by staying in Canada.

You barely touched on the actual reason... that owners dont want to see the value of their homes lowered. A lack of financial education in the last few generations meant the only asset they had to retire with was their home... and that hasn't changed much. Even this video pushes the narrative that "if we could just get a home everything would be okay" which is just pushing the problem back another generation. .

The UK voted conservative for the last 20 years and rent and housing costs are out of control. Socialist or not, something else is at play here. All Anglosphere countries have the same issues and crisis, the UK, US, NZ and Au are all suffering the same issues regardless of government. Left or right, socialist or capitalist it does not matter who you vote for they are two cheeks of the same bum. Different brands but the same issues. When people start talking Socialist, communism, conservatism or capitalism I just switch off and ignore them as the issues are caused by globalist finance and corporations with more power than any government or political idiology.

I've lived in Canada my whole life and I've never been hurting so bad. Example... I got my auto renewal and it more than doubled! $300/month for a Honda CRV!! I've got air tags on it, a club on the steering wheel and it's parked in my garage as I work from home. Unbelievable!!

A lot of this video is directly aimed at Trudeau's leadership, but this is completely forgetting the role of the provincial and municipal governments. They play a major role in building housing and planning cities, and yet basically all of this video is taking potshots at Trudeau. That's not to say Trudeau is free of criticism, but I would've liked a little more nuance there. Especially when people are so polarized at the federal level, the journalistic duty is incredibly important here. Personally, I don't think Trudeau can solve this, but I don't think any single politician can. Especially Pollievre who's got next to no credible plan to tackle the affordability crisis. We have to do better.
