I made it last night, I used cornstarch and gf flour to thicken. It came out great!! I tried pounding it into a ball lol but that didn't work but still tastes great! Also, I had to add water to the potatoes they were so thick my little food processor stopped processing. Love this thank you! 💝
I am so glad you enjoyed it. Feedbacks like yours is the reason I do this. Thank you so much.🤗
What temp is the stove at with the cornstarch?
@@ashleyshrum5803 hm, I'm not sure I copied the same instructions she used just used the different ingredients. So I can't remember if she mentions the temp, but whatever she used I did too!
@@ashleyshrum5803 please use meduim heat. I hope this helps 😊
How did the consistency turn out? Could you pick me up f up like she did?
My son wanted to try fufu. Remembered my friends using potato flakes, but I had fresh potatoes to use up. Your video was wonderful to watch. I made your version and it didn't let us down. Not a potato bit left! We had ours with a peanut chicken stew and a peanut vegetable stew. Will try out other fufu via your instructional video. Bless you 🤗
Thank you so much for this beautiful feedback. I am very happy to hear that the recipe worked for you and your family. Thank you for stopping by and God bless you too.❤️🤗
I’m African American and I absolutely love Nigerian food, especially Fufu! I always order extra! As you may know, casasava, yuca, and plantain isn’t a staple in American diets but I always have potatoes. This is a great way to use up potatoes to go bad. Thanks for much! Can’t wait to make this!
You are welcome 😊 let me know how it goes.
This is a Ghanaian blog and it’s Ghanaians that eat cassava and plantain fufu. Our foods look similar but sometimes with different ingredients
You can use cassava flour if you don’t have yuca or fresh cassava where you live. I made fufu using the cassava flour and it turned out well.
Nigerians also eat cassava and plantain fufu too
My husband wants fufu again, he says he loved it when he tried it with his family. I haven’t been able to find any cassava so this is wonderful!! I’m so happy I’ll be able to make him food he loves and I’ll be able to try some as well. Thank you ♥️
I hope you both enjoy it🤗
You know where I find it? Usually a mexican market. Like Fiesta here in Texas.
Wel explained n easy ..thanks a lot..love u.

This is a new one for me. We used potato starch and instant potato flakes before African foods came to the USA. There are many African food stores where I live. However the products can be quite expensive. So I will try your recipe. Looks great!
Thank you so much. I hope it works for you as it has for me.
I'm definitely curious! I want to try it.
Let me know how it goes when you do try.😊
I can't wait to try it.

The bowl in that you "stamped" the Fufu remembered me of my visit at a Ghanaian families place, where we were happy to spend two weeks. In that bowl they prepared red pepper bells for the dish. It was a great time and from then on I love Banku and Fufu very much ❤️
It is an earthenware bowl called Asanka. We eat in it and use it as a grinder too, it's actually very multipurpose. I am so happy to read you had such a good time in my homeland.❤
رحمة للكعبة شنو فوفو

Loved it
Glad you did!
Love this video. If you are in the US, use the baking potatoes, the big brown ones . It has the texture more of yam. I use it to make pounded yam substitute.
I am glad you loved it. Thank you for the additional information. It will be useful for others.
Thank you so much for making this video for us in the USA! We don’t have Casava in Memphis TN but we do have potatoes!!!!
I am so glad to hear the video is helpful to you. Thank you for stopping by ❤️
Use Yuca that's what its called in the United States.
We have it Janee. I just went to the international market on Germantown Parkway today.

I have become so curious to try this. Definitely making some for me and the kids. I'm in South Africa and will be using cornstarch for binding.
I personally didn't like the texture Cornstarch gave me, so I don't recommend. But I would really love to hear how it went for you. A lot of people in the comment section would like to use Cornstarch too. Your feedback could be very valuable to a lot of people.🤗❤️

My 11 year old has been begging for fufu for a few years. We finally moved into an african neighborhood. We tried it and he was hooked. He sent this video for me to make at home. He tells me "you have to use some arm work mom" 😂 uh thanks... i am happy i can make it for him though
Hahaha I hope you are able to make some for him. 😊🤗
Well done sis
Thank you 😊
Beautiful! I made plantain fufu with egusi stew last night and it was amazing! P.s. My favorite part too is kneading the fufu after it's cooked.
It's so fun, it brings out the child in me.😂😂
I would like to try this im watching frm south Africa
You will love it! Love from The Netherlands ❤️
I tried this for the first time with curried chicken..omg! It was a messy delight. It didn't quite turn out like yours; I will try with plantains next time, then after that an African man better come and marry me 😂

I love the kneading part too.😍😂
It was easy i thaught it will be very difficult.
Thanks.
Glad it worked for you 😊
Thanks for the video share 🙏🙏🙏🙏
You are so welcome 🤗
Nice Texture Fufu
Thank you 🤗
Thank you so much for this video! I'd love to make fufu, but plantain and cassava is not sold where I live; good to know it can be made with potatoes as well! Just a little question: do you recommend any specific kind of potato to use, like a russet or Yukon gold?
I would recommend russet potatoes, but a mixture of both will work too. Basically any potatoes good for mashing will give you the best results.
@@AmazinKitchen ooo alright, thank you so much

I will make tomorrow . love from nep
Let me know how it goes. Love from The Netherlands 🤗
