Jay (Mukase Chic) is an amazing woman, so positive and talented, and so much fun to hang out with and eat with! She’s a food personality, a chef, a restauranteur, a blogger - she’s incredible. Check out her Instagram ( / mukasechic ) and CZcams (czcams.com/channels/8y8.html....
Anyway, so Jay took me an ultimate street food tour in Accra, here’s all the amazing food we ate:
Red red (bean stew) and plantain - This was the first stop, a small stall that Jay has been eating at for years. They fry plantain, and then serve the plantain along with beans stewed in palm nut oil, and combine it with gari, which are cassava flakes. The result, is a filling and very satisfying combination of sweet and tangy plantains with salty oily beans. What’s key as Jay explained to me is the palm nut oil, which provides so much oil and fragrance. It was delicious, and a perfect way to begin this Ghanaian street food tour in Accra!
Total price - 4 GHC ($0.90)
Nima Market - Next we caught a taxi to Nima Market, known for its spices. We tried everything we could find, which was quite a lot of snacks here and there. The market was fantastic to walk around, full of action and energy.
Coconut toffee
Tigernuts - 1 GHC ($0.20)
Masa - 1 GHC ($0.20)
Zowey (adaakwa) - 1 GHC ($0.20)
Kulikuli - 1 GHC ($0.20)
Boiled egg - 1 GHC ($0.20)
Fried cheese - 1 GHC ($0.20)
Burkina - 3 GHC ($0.70)
Bofrot - 1 GHC ($0.20)
Peace Chop Bar (Chop Bar - Local Ghanaian restaurant) - Finally, to end this street food tour of Ghana in Accra, we stopped back at the chop bar that we had visited earlier in the morning. Seeing the cooking was sensational, it only made me hungrier for lunch. By the time we arrived back, they had already sold out of a few dishes, but there was still plenty enough to choose from. I tried the banku with goat meat, and it was fantastic.
Total price - 36 GHC ($7.90)
This was an incredible day of eating street food in Accra. Many thanks to Jay!

Where are my Ghana 🇬🇭 People .. keeping the African culture always 🇬🇭💙 the Pride of Africa 👌🏾
Love AFRICA from INDIA.
one right here 🇬🇭🇬🇭
My parents are from 🇬🇭
everyone looks so happy
We are here ooooo
I spent 5 years in Accra in the 90s.
The food was outstanding.
Nothing like it in the world!
I visited Accra in the 90s myself, and I agree the food was amazing. Kenkey and fish reminded me of a dish we eat in the Caribbean called fish and fungee.
Really good for you and happy you enjoyed the food over there, but you need to come visit my home country Nigeria 🇳🇬 as well and then, tell us what you think.
Lmao... 80% of everything there is found in nigeria
She’s super pretty
I like her
Her personality is beautiful. Young heart.
I think so too!
Right I was just saying that she was beautiful
No. She is hot 🔥
Children just be making friends. I wish life could always remain so simple.

Factss bro
I'm black American but seeing all the love come from other African countries like Kenya, Ethiopia and India for Ghana makes me want to cry. It's so sweet.
There's no such thing as black sis. You're African take a DNA test and find out exactly what you are. Black is a American invention. That's why everything here that's negative is black.
💙❤💜
😅😅😮
😅
Black African Americana are so racist against these people 😪
I'm from 🇰🇪 and am in love with the Ghanian hospitality, kudos to the lady, she's an African pride
Mark really knows how to embed himself and let the culture transform him. Using his hands...that's exactly how to do it. He is so humble. He visits villages, instead of high-end pretentious restaurants. He really gets to the authentic nature of how to eat the foods. Very impressive.
it’s beautiful tbh. my dream is to be able to try the street foods of different cultures
honestly for me, if i go to a new country, best way to eat the food at the most national level, eating street food and local places would be the best ways 90% of the time
Tbh it’s not recommended for everyone to do this because street food isn’t almost the most hygienic. Bad case of diahorrea and vomiting or worse can ruin your trip

How african women seem to balance things on their heads so effordlessly continues to blow my mind
seven asses hahahah
This is what old Indian women's can do
Igorot women here in the Philippines do the same #WomanStrong
As a girl we are expected to run duties as our Mama as early as 4 balancing water pot from the stream and controlling a baby in our backs and to this day I don't trust my baby in a stroller I tie them in a fabric on my back and trust you me I can run with them
I remember a friend telling me that there is a specific posture you have maintain when carring those loads on your head. Otherwise you could injure you neck.
I love his spirit and acceptance. So positive and willing to try something different!!!
Hiii
All I see is smiling, everyone is glowing and eating. Food brings us all together but these women are beautiful 😍. Every time he eats she’s looking at him like yup “I know.” I would love to meet this awesome young woman 🌞
I applaud mark for putting a human face to the people of Ghana. to most of us, when we think of going on holiday, Africa is not even a consideration. Mark you've definitely changed my attitude towards that idea. I'm really enjoying this series!
So happy to hear that, that's puts a huge smile on my face. I learned so much on this trip to. Hope you can visit soon!
Bry New York that’s because of the negative portrayal of Africa and other countries that’s not the US in media
Yes me too thought the same untill I saw this video. Thank you Mark.
True that....he has shown same attitude, same smile and same love does not matter which continent europe or africa all that matters for Mark is food and people..way to go @Mark Wiens..
Many people got scared by Ebola in past few years.
Some countries like Africa really needs many tourists.
This country has so much culture and traditions I could hardly get to know and experience about.

Prinxess Blake yes fam she is gorgeous with that beautiful complexion
Definitely! Black women are beautiful in bright colors and bright whites as well. I wear both every chance I get.
I had for the first time some Ghanaian food in San Diego, I was shocked that it was even here in San Diego and it was really good. I had something with goat in it and my dough was purple. It was spicy, but not unbearably spicy. That lady stirring got slim just from stirring. I've been using red palm oil for about 6 years in my cooking and it's so good. The happiness of the kids is so infectious. Man all the snacks! You really filled your stomach.

Sounds about right 😂
He’s very good to travel places as a visitor, the amount of respect he had which he asked no type of questions to question their culture is very respectful, he eats with his hands to relate and feel like he’s into their culture instead of half taking in certain activities, beautiful💙
I absolutely love this so much when the children were interacting together put a smile on my face.
Wow much respect for the woman stiring the banku

Beautiful natural White teeth. No bleaching.
The headscarf she's wearing is called "Duku" and we mostly use Shea butter and cocoa products for our skin

God bless you my brother. The Western media love to portray only our worst traits and places, whilst only portraying their best!! America and Europe have wretched areas and people but we never see that in the news. I love my country and continent. We have a joy and love of life and people that I just don’t see in The West. And I grew up and lived in both areas of the world.
Thanks Azhar. You very correct.
The energy, the food, the people is everything!! Love it !
I like this video because I can tell you're not fetishising or tokenising the culture in any way but truly respect it and see yourself on the same level as the people. Highlighting the positives to show respect to others home & lifestyle.
Showcasing real local people, asking questions & describing things without any condescending undertones and not constantly comparing everything to the western culture. So refreshing compared to the other tourist videos out there, especially about Ghana. Well done!
