  • This video provides a brief overview of Petersburg. It is a Corps of Engineers Campground on the south shore of Strom Thurmond Reservoir, Clarks Hill Lake, along the border of South Carolina and Georgia, on the Georgia side. The park situated a few miles off of I-20, just north of Augusta, Georgia. We visited this campground in our Wildwood 29VBUD. Please Like, Share, and Subscribe to this channel.

Thanks for the video. We are headed out there this weekend. We have site 53B. For some reason, I didn't realize it was ON the water. This makes me very happy.

Thanks, this is helpful. It looks like the water is accessible pretty easily from the campsites (many of them). Looks good to drag a kayak down to the water to launch.

You are absolutely right. Most have water access. Some are better for launching kayaks than others.

Thanks for such a thorough walk thru of all the sites. It really helps with site selection when you've never been to the campground. Did you have any favorite sites overall for space and view?

We were in 75, right on the water and great fishing right from the camp site. However, it was muddy by the camper in the rain and a bit tight to our neighbors. Sites 53 and 54 would be a good choice for secluded sites, still on the water. Sites in the 30’s are huge, long pull-thru’s generally. Sites in the 20’s have many with concrete pads or asphalt pads to avoid the mud in the rain. Overall, we didn’t see a really “bad” site. Oh, if it is windy, those on the point (47-52) aren’t that protected and get quite windy. Sites along the inlets and coves get less wind. Thanks for the feedback and happy camping!
