We want to help you pass your State of Texas Vehicle Safety Inspection.
What to bring to your Texas Vehicle Safety Inspection
1 Proof of liability insurance: any current state insurance is acceptable.
2 Payment: Texas state law requires that payment is made whether your vehicle passes or fails inspection.
3 Photo ID: this must be current and valid. If you are registering your vehicle in the state of Texas, you will need a photo ID in order to acquire your VI-30
What To Expect When You get your vehicle Inspected!
The state inspector will perform a brake test. All passengers will be asked to exit your car, truck, or van so that the test can be performed.
Total vehicle inspection time is typically 9 minutes or less.
Hint: avoid the rush! Stop by the Official Inspection Station during the middle of the month, from the 13th through the 26th.
Common Reason for Inspection Failure
Many inspection failures can be avoided. Please see the following list of items that typically cause a vehicle to fail when not in place or in the proper condition.
1 Windshield Wipers
2 Brakes
3 Bulbs, including turn signals, stop lights and headlights
4 Parking brake
5 Tires

You should tell people in your video that your car cannot be “safety” inspected if it’s raining outside. I had no idea I rode 30 minutes to my shop and they said they couldn’t do it because it was raining unfortunately. I’m not upset about it but it def would help a lot of people I’m sure

WOW This is a big money maker for repair shops. I'm so glad that the government cares about my safety and the safety of others. I prefer to live in a state where there is no inspection. I'm a big boy I can check my own car. like my boss used to say it's all about the upsell. with the state inspection you kind of have a captive audience. if they don't spend thousands of dollars on a catalytic converter they can't drive the car LOL They have to have it repaired.
lol fuck inspections, all they do is force us to pay out the ass to auto shops and dealers whenever someone tries to buy a car in a state. This shit was never about safety in the first place
Also, don’t move to Maryland, their inspection looks at every little part of your car and if you fail you’re fucked at least 1k because any old car will have some harmless amount of visible rust

A just watched roll in and american cars are falling apart not save on the road and found out that most states don't do mots le in the UK its a full inspection with brake test and emissions tests af seen trucks with there rear brake pipes clamped because there to cheap to replace brake pads it's like 15 quid for pads it's crazy america needs to do full inspections and proper tests so cars are fit for the road in the UK must have legal tyres windscreen washers working wipers full Bush inspection bearings wheels exhaust lights rust etc it's alot of stuff they check and if it fails you can drive it till repaired

Easiest way to pass the emissions test and gas cap test. Get a Tesla, then they don’t .Even test it, only cost me 7$ for inspection.

Man you better bring your car to a different station were they just plug into the OBD2 and if you have no codes your good to go.
How do you find one that only plugs your car into the OBD? I don't see any info about this on the garage websites.
I have never had them test for codes even with check engine light on in TX. Nor has my exhaust been tested for emissions?Lights, wipers,brakes,signals, horn, seat belts and some times they will drive it around the block sometimes they don't.

Trying to find if they check high beams . Called them but they must be busy the garages in San Antonio Tx Both high beams don't work . Check fuses I suppose just kinda strange that just after I replaced one of my low beam bulbs the turn signal there didn't work . Even after replacing it still didn't work .Thought of reset and simplest reset is disconnect battery cable and that finally fixed it 2016 Ford Focus SE

you can fail an inspection if they cant read the codes.
WARNING: dont take your car in for an inspection after disconnecting the battery until you drive it at least 30 miles. You could end up having an incomplete inspection and will have to come back another day and pay again for another inspection.
In Texas you don't have to pay again just get your car fixed and return to the same station within 15 days.
It's worth it to get a little scanner if you're having issues with readiness checks. I'm dealing with one right now and trying to do the procedure but something seems off.

how does this work with old cars?? I came from out of state with a 96' Tacoma and to me it seems my car is already totaled before i even crash it.... how am i supposed to afford to make all these repairs on my old car. Thank you for making this video...I have a salvage car scheduled for a CHP inspection....Anyway, the car had very minimal damage to it that no air bags were even deployed at all...just a broken head light, dent hood and bumper scratch.....and yet the car was tag as a salvage vehicle... .Fine !!! I have photos of the cars "before" and "after" which is required and presented as part of the cars paper work. I saw this video here in CZcams...saying that at the inspection...they will be focusing or they should only be checking how the repair was done ? Is this correct ? I just want to kinda clear this because I have a pair of bucket seats that I've been wanting to put in the car...but now I guess it's a good thing to just wait until the inspection gets done and over with before changing the seats. As you know bucket seats has no Airbags in them and it seems they'll make a big deal about it.

Thanks for watching! They shouldn’t care about airbags. As long as your check engine light is not on. You can have an airbag light on and it should still pass inspection.

Depends on the county you are in.. most just plug the scanner in to look for codes. They do it very quickly!

Vehicle Inspection laws are just stupid. Just because your old car has it's check engine light on, doesn't mean it's gonna blow up. Just because the tire sensor light is on doesn't mean a tire is deflating. A lot of people can't afford a car in crazy good shape. They need to get rid of those laws. Thank God Indiana doesn't have that garbage law. They use that law for revenue and to control you more than safety.

Just get a doctors note for it. That’s all required in TX. I told my doctor the sun gives me migraine and headache and she gave me a Doctors note for tint below 25%
Skin cancer is real, and I used my tint for blocking the sun in the summer, after punking rebar in the sun all day I like a little shade.
