Wednesday Series Description:
Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago - all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
Wednesday is an American coming-of-age supernatural comedy horror television series based upon the character Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family. Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, it stars Jenna Ortega as the title character, with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Fred Armisen, and Christina Ricci appearing in supporting roles. Four out of the eight episodes are directed by Tim Burton, who also serves as executive producer. It revolves around the titular character, who attempts to solve a monster mystery at her school.
Burton was previously associated with two Addams Family-related projects: the 1991 film, which he passed on, and a cancelled stop-motion animated film. In October 2020, he was reported to be helming a television series, which was later given a series order by Netflix. Filming took place in Romania between September 2021 and March 2022. Wednesday premiered on November 16, 2022, and was released on Netflix on November 23 to generally positive reviews by critics, who praised Ortega's performance, but criticized it for its similarities to CW dramas.

I mean sure it’s cool reference to the poem by having it in the name of a title but maybe not every single episode’s title! Then it gets redundant and becomes more about puns than creative titles…
Honestly Eugene and Enid are the real ones throughout this season. They helped her with everything they could and was right by her side ALL THE TIME. Also, Thing was my overall favorite character. Nothing can change my mine. Even though he did not say a single word with every little hand gesture he did I could feel his emotions. An absolute icon.
The Addams family is based on a comic strip published in 1938, the characters weren’t named but they were drawn by Charles Addams. The characters were developed and named in honor of him. Btw bruh your laugh is epic- no joke man, iconic laugh. Stay well mate. 😊

I think the casting for this Addams family is probably the closest that you possibly get to the original sketchbook comics before any of the movies. Which is why it’s my favorite.
Gomes, for example, was noticeably shorter, dark, skinned, and more heavy set. Guzman perfected this character.
His problem is his zero chemistry with Catherine Zeta Jones. There is no Gomez without Morticia and vice versa. This relationship in the series doesn't work, it's forced and it's torture to see them together.
Except, in the "sketchbook comics", Wednesday was younger. 😜
personally i dont think you can beat the perfomance ibn the 1960's show everyone was beyond perfect and the few changes worked really well, i do enjoy this gomez though hes like a mix of the 1960's personality with the comic strip if he was as witty as the 60's version he'd probably be my favourite to

The Addams family have always been a hispanic family, I mean the father's name is Gómez... GÓMEZ... and you can even see him in the 60s TV show a lot of times saying stuff in spanish. In the 90s movies he was portrayed by a latino actor called Raúl Julia... so, yeah... always hispanic.
A lot of people were upset that this Gómez wasn't tall and "good looking" like the previous actors but this whole Addams thing is based on a comic strip, and if you look at original Gómez in the comic, he looks just like Luis Guzmán in this show, so we can say that this version is finally the right one, he's finally portrayed correctly.

I was so curious when I first heard they were making a show about Wednesday because I couldn't imagine what it would be about. She was obviously one of the best parts of the Addams Family movies and I loved her character, but I couldn't see how we would get a full series about her. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. I really enjoyed the storyline and character development throughout, and the idea of her being a spooky Nancy Drew was really fun. There NEEDS to be a season 2.

Hey Mell, the guy (Luis Guzman) who plays the father in this series is actually a childhood friend of my father who is also puertorican. My father remembers the first time he said he wanted to be an actor. It was amazing to see him represent our culture and to have played an iconic character that I grew up watching .

And I particularly hated the hate on this show because in all reality they had the best development as a character (besides Wednesday) and the real villains were all white - Tyler as the Hyde, Christina Ricci as the mastermind behind everything, and crackstone THE white pilgrim. Most certainly but that really doesn't say _that_ much about characters who are young teenagers -- especially considering the amount of growth and connection both Lucas and Bianca had throughout the show.
I mean there are something like 20 bullies depicted in the show, one is black and is the only one to have any development and importance. How that turned into depicting black people as bullies is bizarre.

In the myth...? No, that's not how she was defeated. Perseus used the reflective nature of a shield to be able to "look" at Medusa though not directly so it'd counteract the whole stoning thing, Medusa was trumped by beheading.

To clarify, people weren't complaining about Bianca being a villain because she was a black villain. They were upset because Tim Burton doesn't like casting POC and when he does they're normally antagonists so it was part of a pattern of behavior.
(He says that POC don't fit his aesthetic, which could have changed but he's stuck by that for years so idk. He also has a history of erasing the ethnic background of his work, for example his movie The Corpse Bride.)

Jenna is outstandingly beautiful, true. At times, it's a bit distracting. I have heard others say her dance scene is out of character but I disagree- the fact she is so passionate and animated yet expressionless is absolutely true to her., even when playing the cello. And dancing has proven important to the Addams clan. She mostly only smiles when blood is involved, or is that just me? Also curious if anyone else has noticed that the ghost girl's last name is Addams but she's related on Wednesday's mom's side. So are mom and dad related (possible with an Addams) or did Gomez take his wife's family name? I rather like that idea, actually.
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 Yep, Morticia said Goody comes from Wednesday's Dad's line, one of the first 'colonists,' as they were known. Think she said they came from South America. And in that clip when Goody leaves her Mom in the burning building, we see that she most likely travelled there to Jericho with her Mom (so Addams would have been her Dad's name, as Morticia said Goody was the first 'Addams,') probably as a young child. Interesting back-story.

Bianca isn't a villain. At most she was a bit hard on the boy in fencing but Wednesday and Bianca both initiated the conflict after that. Bianca had a screwed up family and childhood and she chose to leave them to find a better path. She struggles with her power and she seemed to always be honest in her words and actions and she was quick to apologize to Wednesday when they got her expelled. They gave Bianca depth. She's imperfect and complicated which makes her interesting. Whoever gave you grief about her being a villain needs to watch the show again.

I really don't like Tyler's dad. He knows that her wife is a Hyde and there is a chance that Tyler may be one too. But he did nothing, letting the potential beast running wild. He could at least let Tyler go to Nevermore so he could learn to embrace and control himself. Instead the father blamed Wednesday and captivated Xavier! Dont tell me you did not ever suspect your son to be the culprit??? You even track your son through phone!!!
Edit: Tyler's mom did go to Nevermore although she was a Hyde. Because Ms Weembs did not ask what type she was so Tyler's mom can stay there i guess. Mr Cop, can you at least do the same thing?
But Hydes became forbidden to go to Nevermore due to how dangerous they are. Principal Weems even said so in one of the episodes.

@@NotSorry97 Hydes were forbidden from Nevermore 30 years before Wednesday attended. Tyler's mom would have been the last or one of the last Hydes at Nevermore. It was never mentioned as to what happened that was the final straw to get Hydes banned.

Ummmmm how was Bianca a villain at allll!? She was one of the best characters in the show and she helps wednesday in the series several times
She honestly reminds me of Prudence from Sabrina. They literally go back and forth for like 2 episodes and then they fine for the rest of the show.🤦🏾♀️ I don’t get what everybody is talking about calling her a “bully”.🙄

I had watched a few scenes from the Addams Family show back in 1964, Lisa Loring did an amazing job especially since she started at 6 years old. But if you understand the main point of the Addams Family. They are completely different from society, think, act and even express differently. So to this day I will say Christina Ricci really had the stare, the tone and just… everything spot on. Still I am so proud of Jenna for even practicing the plain stare. It’s completely different from a “bitch” stare. Absolutely no emotion is shown, and that’s quite difficult.
Sad story, but I saw a new report yesterday (which was also the day I started binge-watching Wednesday) that Lisa Loring has just passed away! RIP, Lisa!
