Euphoria Series Description:
Euphoria is an American teen drama television series created and written by Sam Levinson for HBO. It is based on the Israeli television miniseries of the same name created by Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin. The series follows a group of high school students through their experiences of identity, trauma, drugs, friendships, love, and sex. It stars Zendaya, who also serves as the series' narrator, alongside an ensemble cast consisting of Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, Algee Smith, Sydney Sweeney, Colman Domingo, Javon "Wanna" Walton, Austin Abrams, and Dominic Fike.

I was so happy Zendaya won an Emmy for this and after watching season two I want her to be nominated again she is the real deal especially the improved scene with Nika King.

I can see why so many people love this show. Masterful acting, directing, camera work etc. But as an older person this whole story line just breaks my heart. I found myself just weeping at parts and I'm so glad I grew up when I did because this is all too much for me.
The thing I love about this show is the villains like mouse how utterly scary they are but Nathaniel 'Nate'Jacobs is a true villain who moves the plot in his on advantage and you still feel for him fear him and most of all Hate Him."
I get you, I only started watching a week or so ago and I cried several times. I think that's the idea of it though, to hit you deep in the feels and to make you think. I think a lot of addicts see themselves in Rue cos I definitely do and it's made me see addiction in a new way, more aware of how it affects other's, not just me.
Cool Fact: little brother Ashtray is a legit boxer and was known for that before this show! So he tough in real life too 🔥🔥

It's so frustrating that so many people hated on Jules but didn't watch her episode. Her actions, while not the best, made sense. She's also a 17 year old girl who's going through stuff, not just rue, so she's gonna do dumb shit. I felt for her with both seasons

Ngl I think I cried through the whole first season. Rue reminds me of my young self quite a bit. They did well showing how easy it is to shift addictions, from a substance to a codependent relationship. They did well showing various codependent relationships...

So sorry for the passing of your grandmother 😥. My grandmother raised me from birth, she was Mom to me. She passed when I was 21 yrs old and it was the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. Next month will actually be the 10 year anniversary of her death and it's got me feeling some type of way. I always thought grief was something that would go away with time, or at least get easier, but it really doesn't get easier, it just hits differently. You kind of just grow around it instead of growing out of it, if that makes sense. Some days the loss hits me in the gut as hard as it did the day I lost her. I think Euphoria does an excellent job capturing the complexity of grief (amongst other things like addiction and mental illness). I hope you have a good support system to lean on because that does help, much love to you Mello ❤️
My dad passed just 2 days before this last Christmas, so I'm still reeling from that. Even though we never had the best of relationship, it still hurts that he's gone. The fact that the death of Rue's father is the event that turned her to drugs hits a little close to home. Not the drugs but the grieving and coming to terms with the passing is what I connect with. It's a surprisingly well done show with how real it gets.
My dad died the day after this last Christmas and I binged this whole show a couple weeks ago. It’s a little topical for me right now. I wept from seeing her loss and my loss so similarly portrayed on screen. I can totally relate to your viewing experience

Season one was great...Season 2 for me was on another level for various reasons the cast is so talented and Cassie and Rue really bring it. Each week I was so excited for the next episode and I've not felt like that about a show for a really long time. You should watch the 2 special episodes before season 2 it will make you understand Rue and Jules a little more.
This show wrecked me so much. I cried throughout the two seasons, so heartbreaking. Yet the directing, the acting, the styling, the soundtracks etc were amazing. Such a mix of emotions and feelings. Even though there was too much unnecessary nudity and 18+ scenes imo, I still think it's one of the greatest shows.
Definitely watch the special episode as well before watching season 2. You learn that rue is an unreliable narrator, and you learn why Jules felt the way she did. Many people didn't watch the special episodes and might have misinterpreted rue and Jules decision-making

I really relate to Rue, I'm an addict too and the part where she's banging on the door desperate for the drugs screaming at Fezco "you fucking did this to me" hits me everytime. Everything she said and did in that scene was out of desperation for the drugs, your mind gets so used to them that when you go into withdrawal it's like "where's the drugs at? where's our fix? wtf u mean we ain't got any left or can't get any.. " it's honestly something I wouldn't wish on anyone. I feel quite bad for both Rue and Jules, both of them didnt mean for their friendship to become how it is, with Rue being codependent on Jules. I think Rue genuinely loves Jules and hasn't realized just yet how much she's really relying on Jules, codependency is a sneaky bitch.
I think Nate acted like that after he looked in the mirror bc he was reminded of all the videos he watched of his dads. But he ended up with a concussion after that scene but he didn’t tell anyone bc he wanted to keep filming lol

I love how empathetic you are. Sorry to hear your gma passed, I lost mine last year as well, hasn't even been 12 months. I know I'm late to the party, but I feel your sadness. She may be one of my favorite relatives and growing up, I called her my guardian angel. She also was a barbie collector and had some of the rarest ones, including the original... and my lord She could make a bomb country breakfast, was a huge prankster and loved to laugh. Her husband, my GPA, was a prankster and joker, but he passed 20 years ago, sadly when I was in 9th grade. You're take on the real issues of this show are so refreshing and relatable. If you know somone or have been through mental health issues or addiction, you ask great questions.
I think, as someone who suffers from general anxiety and depression disorder, the best things to say are: I'm here for you, if you EVER need to talk and I love you. I may not understand what you're going through, but I am here. It's more of a bandaid but it has helped me when I told the people I count as support, how to help me. ❤
I’m just going to throw this out there. Watched a few reactions so this isn’t just about Mello, love his stuff. It’s interesting to see whenever a di*k pops up men flinch or have a visceral reaction. For myself or my female friends whenever we see b00bs or a v*gina in a show/movie its just like oh okay 🤷🏽♀️. I wonder how much society plays into that. Food for thought.
It's because women have always been on display for the mostly men's pleasure and entertainment for men wether that be movies, tv, music videos, magazines. Which is really sad that we see it so often that it's just normal to us women.
Also, men have a reaction cause if they are a straight "full on" masculine man then supposedly for some reason they are supposed to be grossed out and act tough or something in their mind, which I don't understand and is really stupid to me.

It's not for everyone. I was really uncomfortable and didn't like it. But I pushed through because I want to be able to understand and talk with my high school aged kid. To get their references. Personally, I think this isn't appropriate for them but I would be a fool if I thought they might not see it. That their friends or them might not see issues raised that they deal with. Or that if they are going to be exposed to this stuff, maybe I can chime in and be some part of helping them process it.
People (grown ups) didn't talk enough or honestly about date rape/controlling behavior/toxic relationships, sexuality, substance use or abuse or the pressures kids faced when I was growing up. They acted like an after school special or "a very special episode" was enough. It wasn't. My parents tried. They really did. I didn't always listen at the time but seeds were planted. Hoping I am doing better. The world today is so rough to navigate for anyone. I really feel for young people. It feels like the stakes are so high and so much is on the permanent record somewhere that no one gets a chance to learn from mistakes and grow.
Sorry for the long rant. I wasn't trying to convince you to like it. Believe me. I needed to go watch some Downton Abbey as a kind of palate cleanser after this. 😂

If you guys have seen Jules special episode then you can see why Jules went on the train. She was dealing with a lot of stuff with her mom and she needed a distraction which is why she left to the city. Her dad convinced her to come back tho. She is also in therapy in that episode. And she was truly and genuinely in love with Rue. So Jules is a bad person or a fake person. She actually loves Rue and only has a problem with her doing drugs because her mom went through the same thing and her mom left.
The carnival episode takes a lot of inspiration from the Paul Thomas Anderson film, Magnolia, which is my favorite film of his and is a must watch, I highly recommend it!

Ethan and fez are my favorite characters on euphoria but Eric Dane who plays Nate's dad is such a great actor he made me love him so much on Grey's anatomy as Mark Sloan I cried when he left the show the way he did and I hate him so much on euphoria as Cal his really good at acting besides Zendaya for sure. I have anxiety and depression tried committing suicide when I was 15yrs old my brother was born that same day and it saved my life it all started because of my ex boyfriend he was abusive physically, mentally, emotionally, and sexually I was 14 when I got with him and 16 when we officially split I was scared to leave him because of his threats and he let his brother and best friend rape me when I was drugged by his aunt the thing that made me leave was when he was sleeping with my HS best friend and threw me across the kitchen floor and almost killed me I left when I heard a gun shot 2 girls 1 my age and the other 1 2yrs younger were killed. I felt guilty and felt like everything was my fault the abuse the cheating he did and the girls dying. His words were like knives no one will ever love a fat bitch and cow like you had my brother never been born I'd be dead and I would have never found happiness within myself and others especially I wouldn't have found my soulmate my fiancee and my best friend I drank for a while before I met my fiancee because of all the trauma and death of family but I got sober and got help and I learned to love myself I had trauma since I was 5yrs old my mom and God mother were my safe place until my God mother passed away my fiancee is now my safe place my anxiety and depression is not so bad since he came along so this show gets to me because I understand a lot of the characters because of my story and family members stories.
You are very strong and courageous for sharing your story. I wish you health and wellness in your journey.
