On 2011 I was seeing a young lady and around Christmas time she purchased me two box sets . Both LP size .
One was Zeit by Tangerine Dream and the second was Jethro Tulls Aqualung .
Aqualung contained a 12 inch LP and 4 cds
The first cd was the Aqualung album.
The second cd was associated recording from 1970 / 1971 and included is Life's a Long Song and Going Up the Pool as well as Lick your Fingers Clean
The third cd is a 5.1 surround sound DVD of Aqualung
And the fourth is an Aqualung blu ray.
It comes in a slip case and a hardback book that you showed in you podcast. All remastered by Steven Wilson.
It is a great set and I have not heard or seen any conversation about this set.
I love Jethro Tull yet I have only seen them in Perth Western Australia just once .
I have all the Super deluxe Tull boxes plus this LP / 2 cd , 1 DVD & 1 blurry set . The LP comes in a poly vinyl sleeve , I know how much you like PV sleeves Phil as do I 😂❤
We are now in Autumn . Not the Autumn you have in the North but more a sweltering season when the rain gathers in the North of Australia and the atmosphere is pregnant with the possibility of rain .
Massive clouds kilometres high just waiting for conditions to be right to bring us the rain.
I have lived in my street for 15 years and my neighbours now know that when the first rains come I am out there letting the water flow over my body 😂 beautiful
I no longer see the young lady involved and yet whenever I play those two albums I have feelings of gratitude to her ❤😂
    God bless Phil
PS , just received a beautiful 3 cd 1 bluray of Turn of the Card by Renaissance . . . my God, what a great set and what a brilliant band .
    Be well Phil ❤

Excellent stuff! Just found you and subscribed. I’m kicking myself for not getting the Warchild set. I don’t have A Passion Play either, but at least I can stream it. Fingers tightly crossed there’s a reissue of those two. I have all the others and enjoying them all! Broadsword on both Lp and CD. Live:Bursting Out box preordered. Big fan! Thanks for the video!

Thanks Phil for another great video. Unfortunately, can't really afford the super deluxe version of Aqualung, but took your advice and just bought the 2 disc 40th Anniversary set (for about $30 bucks). Fantastic purchase. Big time fan of Tull, and Aqualung has always been one of my all time favorite albums. Thanks again for the video.

It wouldn't surprise me if the book format version is released again. It should be as it is the best version and is superb. Such a delight now.

I remember the other editions being released on their 40th Anniversary and the boxset edition was too expensive for my pocket. The Mediabook Editions all started in 2012 with Thick As A Brick and Mr Anderson obviously must have liked it enough to re-release the back catalogue in the same format I am pretty sure you did also mention that in another episode. The Mediabook Edition of Aqualung was released before the Elevated Edition of Stand Up back in 2016 and at the time these editions were being released one of the first things I noticed about the Elevated Edition of Stand Up when it arrived in the following year was that it was not only thinner but more expensive.
Quite a few of these Mediabook editions only cost me £14 when I pre-ordered them on Amazon. The ones I remember getting for that price were Thick As A Brick. War Child and Too Old To Rock n' Roll, Too Young To Die. I am pretty sure I paid around £25 for the Elevated Edition of Stand Up when I pre-ordered it, whereas Aqualung which came out the year before cost me £16.
You are one hundred per cent right about Aqualung never having a good mix, they had many production problems around the time it was made and because of the way it was originally mixed I always thought that it was made before Benefit when I got into Jethro Tull back in the 70's. Steve Wilson really resurrected this album for me and brought it back to life. It is by far the best version of Aqualung that exists on the planet.

Hi Lee, sorry I have just found this comment. You point out a great point in how cheap these sets were when they first arrived. Thank you 🙏

Hi Phil the 2 cd Aqualung ,I purchased the super deluxe that has 2 cd,dvd, and blu-ray.Then I have a large box set I bought many years ago.I don't know what anniversary it was but it has a picture disc LP, a picture cd disc but the diamond in this set was a large hard bound book of all the lyrics to all Tull songs up to that point.I've never seen it since but I'm sure they're out there but another great presentation Phil

I'm gonna end up with an annoying gap in my Tull boxset collection because I have the big boxset the one with the LP and blu ray inside. But I'm glad I have that one.

This one i have got it,at time i don't love it why? Ce n'était pas le même groupe que Benefit, le bassiste etait parti pour former Wild Turkey, deux bons albums . Mais avec le temps it 's good!!😍🤗

Hi Phil, I was thinking the same thing, that, given the obvious popularity of this format, you'd think a repress would be in order. I have the 2CD edition so I can at least listen to it :) They could also put all the book/text parts together to make a book spanning the whole lot. Cheers, Ian

Great box sets, I have them all except this one. Didn't get it because I have the original lp size edition which included the vinyl, cd's and dvd inside the gatefold cover in individual sleeves and with book in large lp size hard back, inside a beautiful hard quality box, so I didn't need this. Glad I got the original with the vinyl as this was the very first album I brought with my own money, what I wanted without anyone else's influence and what started my love of music back in the day, I was 12 at the time in 1971. Now in my 60s and still love it, especially in 5.1.

Hi Stuart, thank you for watching. I agree you don’t need the version of Aqualung in this series if you have the original super deluxe edition. I missed out on that due to the price at the time. Phil

@@NowSpinningMagazine I still nearly brought it, as there is a gap on the shelf, lol. Just can't justify it though and I love the large hardback book, plus it is nice in with my other large box sets.
Still one of my favourite albums by Tull, along with Stand Up, Benefit, Thick as a Brick, A Passion Play, Warchild, Minstrel in the Gallery and Songs from the Wood. An actual best Tull album I couldn't choose but Aqualung will always be a favourite, as it was my first album I purchased all those years ago.

One interesting thing about these book sets is that some of them have been pirated. It's easy to tell, they're fully book editions, but without the booklet! Madness.
On another note - and I know this will get me thrown out of the Jethro Tull fan club - I'm never loved Aqualung. I've liked it, but it's a long way from being my favorite album by the band. I prefer Benefit and This Was to Aqualung, and Tull really hit their stride (imo) with Songs from the Wood onward through Root to Branches is prime time Tull (with A being half a good record). Never loved Stand Up either. Liked, sure. Loved? Nah. Stand Up seems to get a lot of plaudits these days, bolstered by a strange love for it in the US, along with - of course - Aqualung. A lot of play on radio probably accounts for that..... which reminds me, you couldn't go to a gig in 70's without hearing Locomotive Breath blasted through the PA pre-show!

Hi Mater, thank you for watching. Nothing wrong with you views on Aqualung, we are different. In my Thin Lizzy ranking video I had Black Rose near the bottom when I know most fans love this. Phil :)

Aqualung never sounded good on CD until the Steve Wilson remix. The first CD was absolutely terrible - even the last 1/3 of Wind Up was cut off.
