  • Here's my collection of all 17 Jethro Tull Deluxe Edition Box Sets. I go through each of the boxes so you can see what box is comprised of. Along with The Who and Bob Dylan, no one has done a better job of re-issuing their musical history. And as far as dollar value, nothing comes close to this series of Jethro Tull box sets.

    If I could go back to my teenage years in the early seventies, I would certainly go back to see, again, the Brick and then Passion tours at Boston Garden. The old barn filled with reefer smoke, rabid Tull fans, and a band that put on quite a concert. Memories rock.

    Are you sure you are not the world’s biggest Jethro Tull fan? Your collection of Tull box sets, albums, CDs, DVDs and memorabilia is amazing. What I think is probably even more astonishing is that you have read the books from the deluxe edition box sets from cover to cover. There is not a detail about each of these 17 deluxe offerings that you have not examined. With the beautiful design aesthetics and comprehensive contents of the box sets, Ian Anderson has made sure that no expense was spared to preserve the impressive legacy of Jethro Tull. And, with your vast Tull collection and wealth of band knowledge, Alan, you have done a wonderful job introducing viewers to or reminding them of Tull’s extraordinary legacy.

      Thanks so much. Luckily each box came out like one a year, so it wasn't too overwhelming. I'm waiting with baited breath for the next one which is The Broadsword and The Beast - a personal favorite of mine with the amazing song "Pussy Willow". It apparently will be the biggest of the boxsets yet.

    I love when an artist goes all out on their box sets. They’re for diehard fans who love physical media and want the ultimate archive of their favorite albums. The Who, The Stones, The Beatles and John Lennon are the best in my opinion.

      Thanks so much. I just heard about the Bursting Out album box, which is surprising (though I'm certainly looking forward to it). Ian always said they played a similar setlist and there wasn't much left off of Bursting Out, so curious what would be on it. Perhaps the MSG 1978 stuff, but they already released that previously. Personally I'd love to see them redo Underwraps with a real drummer. Ian said it would be too expensive to redo it, but I don't get it. I once saw a CZcams video of a drummer playing the album and it was amazing.

      @@TheAlanRosenbergShow it's got me wondering too. There's the recent Thin Lizzy boxset which seems to be a recording from each night of the Live and Dangerous tour, this approach doesn't really appeal to me. I wonder if the first set from the Madison Garden gig exists before what was the live simultaneous broadcast. I remember watching the TV special live in the uk with FM stereo turned up to max.
      I'm not a fan of Underwraps to be honest Alan, sorry, but should it ever materialise, I will of course have to purchase it. I saw the tour and bought the album on release, but it's the songs that leave me cold as well. I'm in complete agreement with you about Stormwatch though, it just gets better with age, I don't understand the bands general negatively towards it. I think it's definitely a Fan favourite, along with Too Old..... Another gem which you are right about too.

      @TheAlanRosenbergShow  Před rokem +1

      @@keitholiver1299 I never liked the Underwraps album either (except really for Lap Of Luxury and the title track). I hated the electronic drum sound. But Ian and Martin Barre always had such praises for the album. Then I saw this CZcams video where a drummer played live drums to the album - and wow - it was like night and day. But I guess we'll be stuck with it as it is now. As for MSG - I have the DVD / CD set they released back in 2009. The CD has: Sweet Dream, One Brown Mouse, Heavy Horses, Thick As A Brick, No Lullaby, Songs From The Wood, Quatrain, Aqualung, Locomotive Breath, Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll, My God / Cross - Eyed Mary. So pretty much only Heavy Horses is not on Bursting Out (and the My God part of Cross-Eyed Mary). I also don't need multiple copies of the same songs...I guess we'll see.
