    I just discovered your channel, I had to freeze stop it when I saw Naz-Bro, in my travels down to VA I make a stop at that place, THE BEST CHOCOLATE I have ever had! The proprietor is also a super nice gent. Good stuff in this video. Thank you for this.

      Good to hear! Occoquan is such a charming little town and I’ve had similar experiences with some of the other shops and restaurants there. I haven’t been to NazBro as of yet but I’m definitely going now. Thanks!

    Really great review, especially interesting to see some of the US in a nice walk around + technically interesting on the development timing comment.

      Nice! Congrats on your purchase. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I do. In case you haven't already read it, this is a really helpful article that talks about how to use super-wides. tinyurl.com/yakregx4

    The recent stuff over the last/recent years from VL seems great still have my Bessa stuff. Great stuff on the cheap. Well, relatively cheap.

    • @FilmPhotographyChannel
      @FilmPhotographyChannel  Před 5 lety +2

      Cheap for Leica I guess. This 15mm was just about $380 used ($490 new) with the M adapter included. As we know Zeiss ZM 15mm f2.8 is about $3,000 and Leica doesn't offer anything this wide except maybe the Tri-Elmar 16-18-21mm f4 which costs $5995.

    Great video. Im on the fence of getting that lens. I was worried about the distortion of the straight lines but it doesn’t seem so bad

    • @FilmPhotographyChannel
      @FilmPhotographyChannel  Před rokem

      You can get perfectly even horizon lines with this lens. The trick is to put horizon lines near the middle of the frame. You’ll see distortion through the accessory viewfinder if you raise and lower it to see how the horizontal lines are affected by how you frame your photo. Check out these photos taken with the CV 15mm. flickr.com/photos/13118211@N07/sets/72157692294087650

    Thanks to this video. I was considering buying the 15mm f/4.5 Voigtländer to replace the adapted 14mm Nikon lens that I now use on my Leica rangefinders. However, now that I know that there is no rangefinder coupling, I decided against it.

    • @FilmPhotographyChannel
      @FilmPhotographyChannel  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Glad I could help with your decision. This lens has no rangefinder coupling because it’s pretty much always in focus.

    Thank you, I love your videos. Have a question, with viewfinder being above lens, do I have to worry about that thing called parallax.... or will the photo frame be the same as what I see on the viewfinder? Thank you!

    • @FilmPhotographyChannel
      @FilmPhotographyChannel  Před 3 lety +1

      I don’t know why there’s no consideration for parallax. The 21mm viewfinder actually has broken lines for parallax but for some reason the 15mm doesn’t. That being said, this is a lens that’s not really meant as a close focusing lens but I think they should’ve put the lines there.

    Hi,
    Recently I adapted the Voigtlander 15mm Heliar LTM to the Leica M6 and unfortunately I founded black corners at all the shots...
    I am thinking of changing the adaptor, actually I am using a Fotodiox.
    Could you copy the link to your ltm-m mount adaptor?
    Thank you in advance :)

    • @FilmPhotographyChannel
      @FilmPhotographyChannel  Před rokem

      My adapter only has a “50-75” marking engraved and nothing else. It came with the lens which I bought used. I looked at some of my photos taken with this lens and didn’t see any major vignetting. Here’s the pics on my Flickr flickr.com/photos/13118211@N07/sets/72157692294087650

    hey man! great video! I just got the same lens for my Leica m4p, but although I bought a valid m39/m mount, i can't focus! do you have the same problem and just use zone focusing? or is it just me ahahah? anyway cheers from France keep it up!

    • @FilmPhotographyChannel
      @FilmPhotographyChannel  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi, sorry so slow to respond. I have the original version of this lens and it isn't coupled for focusing. Version II is coupled. They have the same optics and the newer version has a more substantial lens hood. Even at its max aperture of f4.5, everything from 2' 7" or .8 meters o infinity is in focus! Thanks!

    Great location for the review, I borrowed one of these lenses for a days shoot a couple of years back and was pleasantly surprised. I will have to add one to my lens collection after this pandemic finally eases up.

    I'm assuming this would work on an M6 or M2? When I look it up it says that it goes to digital.

    • @FilmPhotographyChannel
      @FilmPhotographyChannel  Před 3 lety

      This is an (adapted) M-mount lens so it will work on any Leica M camera. It won’t couple with the rangefinder for focusing which is not a problem because of the super wide depth of field.

    • @bladerunner8832
      @bladerunner8832 Před 3 lety

      @@FilmPhotographyChannel So you can’t focus with it?

    • @FilmPhotographyChannel
      @FilmPhotographyChannel  Před 3 lety

      No it’s not coupled but at f8 or so EVERYTHING from a few feet to infinity is in focus.

    Good setup combo. I'm just not a fan of extreme wide angles. I don't do anything wider than 28.

    • @FilmPhotographyChannel
      @FilmPhotographyChannel  Před 5 lety +1

      Teng I wish you would just try it one time. I used to have only 28mm also, but when you go this wide, it really offers a great perspective! Here's a great article on how to use ultra wide lenses. Thanks! tinyurl.com/yakregx4
