    It is said the Leica 39 mm screw mount thread was a copy of the 39 mm microscope thread.

    A delightful review of the Leica lens alternative. And your photos are bloody wonderful. What brought me here was a review of the Sigma fp (L-mount) camera that showed wonderful images taken with the Voigtlander 75mm. I have more than a passing interest in this camera, but I am stymied by the lack of lenses from Sigma that pair suitably with its design. At this writing (10/4/20) there's only the one, a 45mm f/2.8. My interest in the fp is as a still photo camera (while I wait for Sigma to get off their backsides and produce the promised full frame Foveon camera, now indefinitely delayed) . . . thus your page. I am only vaguely familiar with Voigtlander, and find that these are all manual focus lenses, which rather pleases me. Despite my aging vision, I am more confident with manual focus, as I was the the Zeiss Loxia lenses on my (now defunct) Sony a7Rii. My questions are: Can you think of any reason why I should not be able to successfully and creatively pair some of these Voigtlander lenses and the Sigma fp; and which adaptor should I be looking for?

    • @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom
      @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom  Před 3 lety +1

      Leonard Norwitz thanks for your kind words. There are more in depth reviews of these lenses too, check the series 1 playlist (M mount glass). Yes I use a L mount Leica CL so you’ve come to the right place. Get a Leica M-L adapter and then the fun really starts! Super illustration photos Matt. For me the Skopar series are the best all round best bang for buck and usable, especially in LTM mount. But have you tried the 'legendary' 28mm f/3.5 Skopar in LTM mount? It's no longer made and was manufactured just a bit better than the others in brass, but it's a lens I'd rather carry for general use than my 28mm Summicron. It gives little away at the normal f/stops only falling down in the extremes.

    During my "Shutterbug Ads" days (1970's), I looked around for interesting/odd Leica screw mount lenses. One was the 28mm f/3.3 Angenieux, which popped up from time t time. I tried to bid for one, but was "beaten to the punch" several times. Eventually, I gave up and bought a 28mm f/2.8 Canon lens, instead. Speaking of oddball lenses, I did consider the Canon 19mm f/3.5, but these were rare and expensive, with or without finder. It did seem that 35mm SLR lenses were easier to find/buy in the 1970's, so I bought a 24mm f/2.8 Nikkor for the Nikon F-2/FM.

A Voigtlens I am happy to commend to you if you find one of condition and price that you like is the Nocton f1.5 50mm asph .Almost as fast as a Summilux 1.4, superb build quality, excellent image quality and about1/8 of the price. I don't think you would be disappointed. It's another pocket sized piece of optical excellence from CosVoigt that can save its owner a ton of money, and deliver the goods with the prospect of very long term reliability.
