- The Voigtlander 15mm is one of my favourite lenses. Here's the ups, the downs, and a bunch of pictures I've taken with it. If you prefer a blog to a video, then look at: allmyfriendsarejpegs.com/2021...

I know I know, I hate doing this as well, but if you like what I do and want to get more of it, while also helping me offset some of my ludicrous gear purchases, this is the best place to do it:

If you're in the market for new gear, my favourite place to find new and interesting synthesizers and other electronic music gear is Signal Sounds. They are based in Glasgow, but ship all over the place and often have stuff nobody else does. Find them at www.signalsounds.com/
If you're in the US and shop at Perfect Circuit, you can click through to see what they have in stock just now through my custom link. I get a small commission for any purchases made, which keeps me stocked up with whisky and beard oil. link.perfectcircuit.com/t/v1/...

Came for the lens - stayed for the synths! sick!
Thanks a lot!
Great pics! Love that hue in the periphery.
Thanks Devin! Agreed. Folks see it as a flaw. I do not.
You are so right! Modular synths and Voigtländer lenses mix well together :)
The purple fringe looks very cool to me, it does add a lot of character to the photos, I really dig that! Sweet review, it was very cool seeing examples of your photos you shot with this lens too! 📷🎹 Very cool you have been to Japan, I've always wanted to go!!!!🤘🐀
You must go. Take a giant empty suitcase as you'll end up stuffing it full of weirdo synthesizers. Trust me.
@@StephenMcLeod hahaha!! Oh man, yes will do! It's very high on my list of places to go in life, maybe even number one!!
Great and very helpful video! Thanks for doing this!
Glad it was interesting!
Very nice - I didn't realise just how many of your photos that I'd liked in the past were taken with this lens... even more excited to try mine out now. Just need to get a new mount, since this weirdo one I currently use doesn't line up properly to the M body.
Similar here actually! That's what you get for buying an M10.
I was a synth nerd before I was a lens nerd 💯
For me, the other way around!
Voightlander has released the 15 mm f 4.5 on update mounts with electrical connections to provide the aperture, focus assist and focal length, I have one on a Nikon ZF.
Very nice! Is there an equivalent for M bodies?
I used to have this lens and paired it up with a Leica IIIf. I used to shoot a lot of black and white street photography. Great lens! I sold it not too long ago on Ebay. I still have all the negatives and some prints too.
Nice one! I had a Leica iiif for a while, but the focus window was too tiny for me to see through with my glasses so I sold it :'(
@@StephenMcLeod Yeah the rangefinder/viewfinder was tiny. At least all the Leica gear keeps it's value nicely so at least you don't loose out greatly haha!
@@omegaquadrant4908 That's a great point. I got my M6 for about 600 quid, and they are about 2k now o_O
@@StephenMcLeod I wish they were 600 when I started I did my bachelor's! Would of loved an M mount for street photography. I did love the IIIf though. So compact with the collapsible 50mm lenses they offered for them.
Thanks for the review. I recently got the Samyang 18/2.8 for my Sony a7. It's pretty good, but it can take a bit of getting used to ow wide it is.
Oh nice! I've got a few Samyangs and they are pretty nice, but not the 18mm f2.8!
Help,
Does anybody know the correct cap size for the v1? I’m receiving one without the original cap. Thanks!
The cap I've got is an original Voigtlander one - and it fits over the top, rather than screwing or clipping in, which I think is what you'll need to look out for. I'm not aware of the specific size unfortunately!
Thank you!
Had one of these in ltm years ago; wasn't my cup of tea. For the purpose you describe, assuming full frame, the 21/1.4 would be perfect IMO. You can crank down your ISO for better quality, avoid the severe distortion at the edges and exaggerated DOF, and still retain the forgiving focus benefits of an ultra wide. But $$$.... Alternatively, while *in* Japan hit the old camera shops. I lived there about 8 years and left with a trove of camera lenses / gear. Especially Hexanons. :^)
I actually quite like the distortion! I've used one of the 21mms before, but it was f4, not f1.4... Do they make a 21mm f1.4?!
I love the old camera shops in Japan! Whereabouts did you live? That's awesome. I've been a couple of times, and spent literally a week just wandering from shop to shop ha. I am kicking myself for not buying a 35mm LTM f1.5 I saw last time. It was 800 quid... and now they are up at like 5k D:
Great lens...now if only I could afford any of the cameras it mounts to :p
It mounts to cheap Sony and mirrorless cameras too!
Noice.
15mm noice
All my friends are lenses.
