- It seems that in year 5 of the Zion Williamson era in New Orleans, the Pelicans have finally started to turn the corner. They have been one of the best teams since the all star break, boasting a top 10 offense and a top 2 defense. They've climbed back up the standings and now sit only a couple games outside of the top 4 in the Western Conference

For the sake of Zion's contract, I hope he does well this year. I remember seeing a report that Zion's weight was such a concern that his contract extension was "non-guaranteed" if he didn't maintain a certain playable weight margin throughout the season.
I hate how cut throat the NFL is but man I wonder how the NBA would look if contracts were not all guaranteed
The Pelicans are a scary matchup roster wise to any team that’s not Denver or maybe Minnesota. No other western conference team has the size in the front court to match up with Jonas and Zion in a 7 game series. Combine that with two tough shot makers in CJ and Ingram to go along with their defense(6th in the league) and you have a team that could make a run to the WCF depending on matchups.

Well now Ingram is out for two weeks with a injury so that's unfortunate
The pelicans are a good built team around Zion plus he is finally healthy and they're doing a good job getting wins
Plus all the moves they made are paying off big time like the CJ deal
The Pelicans are an interesting team since it's almost like they've learned how to build a team that is competitive without Zion vs. for Zion. Then if he can ever stay healthy, it's just an added bonus.
CJ deal has been trash. We would've been better with Josh Hart + picks + LESS MONEY. Having an SG who doesnt think he needs to save the day all the time would be great
They get a floor general (should get tyus jones) and a floor spacing 5 and they could make a deep run fully healthy. Also Tre Murphy should start over CJ McCollum for defense purposes and CJ offers 20ppg off the bench
They already have great spacing with point Zion

Personally, I don't see the Pelicans going further than the second round. But I do hope that the Pelicans match up against the Thunder. Since the Grizzles are out this year, it would be really cool to see some up incoming young teams in the NBA take a big stance in the playoffs. I still think Shai should win MVP though.
