- There are some teams over the years that may have had a great season, some good moments or were just flat out fun to watch, but over time they become forgotten about because they didn't really accomplish anything. This is the first episode in our new series looking over some of these forgotten NBA teams. This episode we talk about the 2015 Atlanta Hawks that won 60 games and was one of only nine teams to have four all stars in one season.

The "maximum capacity" comment is so true & perfectly described this team. They went full on try-hard in the regular season, but everyone knew when it came down to it, Lebron & the Cavs would mop the floor with them.
Truth be told, the Spurs could've had multiple 70 win seasons if they went all out all 82 games.
Yeah. The spurs absolutely could have. But they valued the championship rings more than the potential ridiculously good regular season records.
The Cavs basically acted like they didn’t have to try at all because LeBron would carry them, red flags be damned
The Atlanta Hawks in the 2014-2015 season did not have superstar players and were not flashy, but they were a well-balanced team with several players scoring double digits in one game.
They come up occasionally when people mention weaker conference finals teams.
They may pale in comparison to a lot of teams that went that far, but at the end of the day they put together a solid season and won two playoff series when the playoffs happened.

So that game 3 vs the wizards, the reason why Al wasn’t on the floor was because ATL pulled their starters cause they were down like almost 30, and then all the sudden the bench squad made an insane comeback and tied the game up, so they just rocked with the bench unit to end the game
The Atlanta Hawks is the definition of a mid franchise. Dont believe me their winning percentage is 50%.(Thats real look it up)

This is the team that made me fall in love with the NBA...thank you for covering a team that never really got the attention they deserved for how good they were as a complete unit 1-12.
As a kid growing up in the Atlanta area who NEVER had an interest in basketball this team is what made me a life long fan and now I’m getting into coaching!
such an underrated team, definitely rooted for them around this time and was a sleeper team I used on 2k16 🔥
I remember Earl Clark. he played one year for the Lakers. this was during the dwight debacle when kobe hurt his Achilles. Earl Clark was one of the few bright spots of the season. I believe that was his best year statistically also.
Is this the Earl Clark that played for university of Louisville? I'm a Laker fan and Louisville native so I definitely remember him, just making sure it's the same guy! Great in college but just didn't have the game to make it in the nba
I vividly remember being scared to death to face this team. Considering we JUST made it past chicago. I was worried that had taken it all out of us. Boy was i wrong. And yeah.....off the dribble JR is right up there with purple jersey VC untucked Kyrie and grandma at the game Kobe. Dont even put your hand up cause its going in regardless
I originally thought Atlanta would at least get a game or two because of how deep their team was but LeBron did a LeBron.

Ay man that’s crazy you guys spoke about Markel Brown, I don’t know him much I see but he is from my hometown of Alexandria,Louisiana. Brown was highly recruited and highly touted to become our next best star. He was an absolute unit coming up. Many of me and my peers(I’m 26) looked up to him as an quiet avid basketball town. Point being, Brown eventually got recruited to Oklahoma State. In which he got to play along and grow with our favorite defensive guy today in Marcus Smart. Brown and Smart were the 1 and the 2 up in till they got drafted together. Essentially Brown had all the athleticism in the world but in comparison to what Smart brought in those years at OSU overshadowed Brown but together they were a decent duo. But Brown got drafted to the Nets and pretty much just started skidding down. He played for the Rockets before he was eventually let go and where he is now playing overseas. Lol I feel grateful to be able to share a piece of history with my favorite basketball channel! You guys are the shit keep rocking on! 👏🏽

I feel like this team is bound to be talked about, but I’m so excited about this series that I have to bring it up, PLEASE talk about the 2018-19 Nets, that team was ELECTRIC
I remember Earl Clark. He had a really good stint for a year or two and everyone thought he was going to go from role player to fringe starter. Had a year or two with the Lakers, then the Nets...was out of the league less than 5 years after that, I think. Maybe after the Nets season.
My absolute favourite team to play as on 2k16- Schrooder the shooter, my buddy Al, mean Millsap, and who could forget Kyle Korver for THREEEEEEEEE! This video brings back a lot of great memories, I’m so glad you took the time to talk about this team.

ATLiens really thought they were gonna win the chip this year. It was so annoying when you live here and not a fan of the team but you watch enough basketball to know that a team that randomly wins 60 games is not a lock to win a title.
Worst thing is I don’t see the hawks panning out with trae, Classic hawks 😂😂

The Hawks that year were 22-8 vs the West and held their own vs the upper echelon teams there; split with GSW/Memphis, swept Lob City/Houston/Portland

09-10 Suns deserve an episode. Last year with Amare and Nash, they bounced back from a disastrous season with Shaq and took the Lakers to 6 in the WCF.

As a Hawks fan man I loved watching this team. My dad and I used to go to the Playoff games all the time. Even bought an Adrean Payne shirt. The Pacers series the year before ugh. Miss this team
Lifelong Hawks fan. I often think about this team as well 😢 I loved this core so much.
I was a freshman in high school, living in the Bay Area, I’m a die hard Dubs fan. I never once feared Atlanta. I knew that if we made the finals in 2015, we would be playing Lebron. The Hawks just felt like the Utah Jazz in 2020, yeah they had the best record, but they never felt like a real contender. They didn’t really have a star player, just a bunch of solid players, and you need at least 1 star player to win a title. Not since the 04 Pistons has a starless team won.
what about Ben Wallace and Rip Hamilton?
The Cavs were basically “1 star player, everything else sucks”

This team was only hyped up as a true contender that year because the media needed SOMEONE in the east they could say was legitimate for the Lebron Cavs to play. No one truly believed they were contending.

You guys should do a series on the unluckiest players in NBA history. Players who missed rings by leaving a team or being traded the year before they won, retiring just before they won or just making it to the finals and losing several times.
Hmmm the 80s hawks with Dominic may have a word about being the best Hawks team since Petit. They had great teams in that era, but sadly they had to share conference with some historic celtics, sixers and pistons rosters.
I long for an NFL channel similar to this.
Kyle Korver is a top 7 shooter of all time
Pretty much what happened to the Phoenix Suns a couple years ago, was the team with the best record but then got absolutely smacked in the face by the Mavs at home in blowout fashion.
I do think this team will be mostly forgotten about...however that "Player of the Month" thing might make them a trivia question for quite some time. That genuinely might be their lasting legacy.
You got to talk about the New Jersey nets when they went to the finals. I don't know if there's any more forgettable finals team in recent history.
One thing that I need to point out, is that I don't like the disrespect that was shown to this Hawks team or calling them fraud. They won 60 games and made it to the Eastern Conference Finals to where we all thought they were going to lose to Cleveland anyway. Is it just me, or do I really want to see this Hawks team come back as a classic team in NBA 2K?
They were frauds. They barely beat a sub 40 win team in the nets and got by the wizards with John Wall only playing 2 games. They couldn't get a game on the cavs with no love and a hobbled kyrie playing 2 games. If your 3 best players are Millsap horford and Teague newsflash you aren't a contender. Basically the same squad next year minus Carroll got swept yet again by the cavs
making the ecf in this weak eastern era is not much of an accomplishment. Add to that that cavs absolutely outclassed them in 4 games. Yes they are frauds
@@juohan Was it the teams in the East being weaker or was it the teams in the West being better? Because at the end of the day, you still got to play the games and getting to a Conference Finals is no easy task.
@@manzac112 why make that distinction? East teams being weaker ofcourse mean west got better teams. This hawks team making the ecf doesnt excuse them from being a fraud, especially considering how they did against the cavs.
@@juohan I don't think anyone from the East was beating that Cavs team. And a 60-win Hawks team going to the East Finals was considered overachieving; so, you got to give them some slack.
This Hawks team was the ultimate example of how good of a coach Mike Budenholzer is. He had his flaws but his system turned an unheralded group of great role players into a 60-win team in Atlanta and a talented team without an identity into a contender in Milwaukee. Unfortunately, one championship wasn’t good enough for many of my fellow Bucks fans and they ran him out of town after that awful playoff series against the Heat last year. Now, the Bucks, while still good, aren’t really a feared team because their defense is bad and they have a rookie coach.
The grit and grind Grizzlies should have a video and so should the D-Wade, Butler, and Rondo Bulls
I wish there was a timeline that Durant joined the Grizzlies instead of the Warriors in 2016. He would fit perfectly in that team as the only thing that the Grizzlies really need is a consistent scorer.

i feel that the 1996-1997 heat should be one of these teams
it was the tim hardaway alonzo mourning era
they were coached by pat riley
they had the second seed with a 61-21 record only beaten out by the bulls
then they had to go to a game five in the first round (old school game seven)
a game seven in the second round against the knicks (this was during the awesome heat knicks rivalry)
and then they got beat in 5 by the bulls
they still hold the second best franchise record from the heat though (only beaten out by the 66 win 2012-2013 heat)
This is when I became a hawks fan because it was the first nba game I went to and I was enjoy my time this was during the streak. I was hyped for the playoffs just for Lebron to break my heart then The warriors broke it again because I’m still a lebron fan so if my hawks couldn’t win I at least want bron to win.
