    The wire that comes out of the fuel pump and runs under the carpet for the rear seats is what im having a problem with... it has been completely severed and im trying to figure out how to fix it the correct way, that way i dont have to splice it, how would you go about fixing the repair in my situation? Is there an adapter i could buy, is splicing my only option, or do i need an entire floor wire harness?(im hoping this aint the case) any and all ideas would help, thanks!!!

    I have an 07 Elantra but the fuel pump looks totally different. Hose,connector but a metal clip instead of another hose port. How are they compatible?

    That one didnt want to leave home :)
    That fuel level sender was very logrithmic in operation, 200R max resistance but it was down to about 60R in the middle.
    Ahh a good pair of molegrips / vicegrips, every toolbox should have some, along with stilsons pipe wrench and channel locks :-)

    I know how to take it out, but how do you connect the new pump to the Cap that covers the pump ???? 2000 Hyundai Elentra.

      is the pump in the 2000 in the same location???

    • @richardgordon3397
      @richardgordon3397 Před 5 lety

      yes the pump is ina canister also just slightly different setup but basically the same you have to after removing it unplug the wiring connectors then pull 3 tabs out then up for the top to separate then undo fuel line that removes top ..then more tabs on bottom of canister just remove about everything because pump is about the last thing besides fuel strainer..i find it easy i have done so many but can be tuff for first time ..if you have not done this before ask or get a mechanic the clips on canister are plastic and can break easy also other things can break if you dont undo correctly..good luck hope this helps

    Hi is it possible to just change the fuel level sensor? My gas gage stop working 10 yrs ago..

    • @LizFromDecencyUnited
      @LizFromDecencyUnited Před 3 lety

      Not really, or easily. That being if you could even find just the sensor. They usually come attached to the pump assembly in the tank and the floats (which is usually what gives out) are generally made of plastic or metal, both of which just fail with time, and fill up with gas, kinda like the float in your toilet tank. Same principle.

    it doesnt seem logical that this is where my evap leak would be coming from. It seems that this would be seated in firmly

    • @LizFromDecencyUnited

      Gas cap is the usual suspect for an evap leak, if you're getting a code. Or, you could be super unlucky like I was, and it could be the intake gasket. (that cost me $400, ouch!) I have a 2002 Elantra. I'd start with a new gas cap if I were you. And, you're mostly right about this being seated firmly, if not for the mountains of rust. Still, unlikely.
      Heck, the only reason I came to this video was to see what a pain removing the rear carpet is going to be, LoL . I've got 2 inches of water in my drivers side foot wells, and it's not coming from the heater core. That leaves a rust hole....... somewhere. From seeing the rust under the seat on this dudes car, I have a pretty good idea of what I'm going to find. This dude is an ok mechanic, but sloppy. He should've cleaned and rust treated everything under there, and replaced the bolts holding the fuel pump housing to the fuel tank, because they're shot.

    horrible job, never took the time to use drop cloths nor clean the area, rust and dirt are gonna get in the tank. Preparation is key.
