Notice there wasn't any video on this so as I was working on it I figured to make a video out of it to help u but it's a real time video so it took a few minutes sorry.
Nice tutorial. Wish I watched this before I tried. I'm currently waiting for my second fuel pump to come in the mail. The video I watched the guy just took it out. That part was easy. When I tried to put mine back in, the lever got hung on the mesh inside the tank bending the hell out of it and it was a miracle i even got it back out, but it was trashed. Be very careful putting it back in, the unit is flimsy piece of crap IMO.
Car wouldn't start. I hit top of pump assembly with a crowbar and car started. I went home and put in a new pump (not the whole assembly. Just the pump). Car started but was really unreliable; wouldn't accelerate well and sputtered. Then it stopped starting. I tried another brand of pump. Car would not start. I put in the old pump and the car ran great! At least for a few days. Now it finally died. Right before it died I heard the sound from the pump change and make different sounds, but it was obvious something bad was happening. Finally, it stopped turning on. I tried hitting in again but nothing happened. What do you think? Should I try to replace the whole fuel pump assembly or just get an OEM fuel pump and ignore the stuff from auto zone and advance auto?
Does this car have fuel pressure schrader valve on it, anywhere, for checking the fuel pressure to diagnose that it's a bad fuel pump? Mine, a 2007 Hyundai Accent, doesn't seem to have one. Frustrated. Poor design, on their part.
This year Hyundai and model is notorious for the fuel pump failing. They came at a time when gas was really high and everyone wanted to move away from the SUV. So many of them got sold they had to rush extras through production. To satisfy the demand other vendors were used to make the fuel pumps. After several accidents on highways involving fatalities were linked to the fuel pumps failing. Recalls were issued. I'm sure not all cars have been serviced. Fuel pumps when they typically fail won't start the vehicle. They also feed the motor during operation. These particular pumps failed after bursts and extended periods of acceleration then when coming to a stop the car would fail. For example riding down the interstate fine and then stalling at the stop light at the off ramp.
@@exterval5622. please help me here with that. what happened? how did that happen? was at home, driving, how was it? Did you replace it, how did you do it? Thank you for your explanation.

The car started right up with no problem and yes the car smelled like gas but it took a day for the smell to go away.

My 2007 pump looks totally different from that one. What year is the car you’re working on?
put in the lock ring 3 screws in different places and hit it with a hummer slowly and you got it loose.

What were the signs that you needed to change the fuel pump??

This lock ring is REALLY hard to get off. I’ve been trying to get it off for over 2 hours... arghh...
Eric Bailey same to me lol
Using penetration spray like Blaster makes it come off in minutes
