This entire conversation was so far off the mark and really hard to listen to much less take serious. I get it from Colin who doesn’t care about hip hop culture or the going ons but Nick surprised me a bit. If a movie underperforms at the box office is there not criticism and finger pointing I’m sure the Zack Snyder last 10 year run would have something to say about that. When Eminem or Kanye don’t perform quite like they used to do we not hear a barrage of inquiries as to whether they were actually ever for the culture at all. Really the only difference in criticism is that art is subjective and people try to bend it to be merit based where sports has an actual winner and loser you can point to.

The difference is that artistry requires more than pure hard work to be successful. It's also an emotional-intellectual-imaginative process. Success in sports is probably more difficult but it isn't nearly as complicated. I'm not sure that these sports guys get that. The "accountability" analysis Colin has is clever but limited. Artists are criticized all the time and athletes are worshipped all the time, so...
