I have the ultimate scenario/argument against NBA players pleying in the NFL.
If and NBA player was going to be on offense in the NFL, then it would be like once a week playing in roughly half on an NBA game with always on hack a Shaq. How many players would survive that for 16 weeks let alone a handful of playoff games.
If the NBA player was going to be a defensive NFL player, then it would be like the guy you are guarding always having a blocker (sometimes 2) that could push you down from any angle but from the back... For the whole game!

There are some frames and abilities that would be able to earn a future’s contract as in the Team would see this person being able to participate in Offseason Camps and fall camp then maybe make a practice squad, it would take 2-3 years to develop football competence and durability, as in training different muscle groups and building up the anaerobic system. The ability to close space and deliver a boom constantly, catch the ball with the anticipation of a hit, it would take time, however there’s multiple guys that an NFL team would invest time in. AE, Zion, Westbrook, Lebron… just off the top of my head and they would all be defenders, you could recondition their bodies and add about 25-30lbs over a span of 2-3 years… and make them legit defenders… as in could possibly make a 53 man roster maybe break into a package ⏸️ or even a starting lineup.

As a guy who played both sports growing up, I'd say there's a few guys who could do it, but some of these positions are not happening. Nobody in the NBA playing no damn RB, lineman, or edge rusher. The only defensive position would be maybe safety, and on offense WR, or more likely a Kelce style TE. The other one that's interesting, I've always wondered if NBA athletes all grew up playing QB, learning to throw and read defenses instead of passing and shooting. Imagine someone as tall and athletic as like a LeBron, or as precise and accurate from deep like Steph. Also at QB durability would be far less concerning.

Basketball players tend to have good hands and agility which best translates to receiver, tight end, safety, corner, or running back. You could get close to a dozen competent people for those positions no problem from the NBA. The problem is there would be a hard time finding five NBA players who could be starting line men, because basketball talents and builds would not translate as well if not at all to them. So, comparing mid-sized or even most large NBA players to a line-man like Parsons is unfair. He dwarfs running backs, wider receivers, and other NFL players; but we don't usually give them a hard time about it. I was a d3 athlete who participated in multiple club sports, so I saw how at my level some of the basketball and football players translated to other sports. There is no exact rule to this though just tendencies.

@@B.Piercesports isn’t he ALWAYS hurt? The claim was the NBA guys could easily play in the NFL. Not vice versa. There would be very few guys in the NBA that could transition due to the brutality. For someone w/ “sports” in their name you seem really ignorant about sports.

LeBron would not last 5 mins in NFL. He is a real cry baby. Football is for real men. Not cry baby or complainer.

Nick Wright is in CRACK. There is ZERO chance Anthony Edwards could play an NFL season. Could he run fast and make amazing moves? Sure! Could he get up week after week after taking hits from guys like Aaron Donald or Nick Bosa? No chance.
C'mon. It's funny having these two be idiotic back and forth.
    Ridiculous.

Not if we don't give it to him. If we stuck all NBA players through the works to become NFL players some would adapt, some would break. There are many we do not know on, so it is best to avoid judgement. Plus stars like Aaron Donald and Nick Bosa only make up a fraction of the NFL, and they are freaks within the sport. We see NFL players struggle to stay healthy, even if they are stars (examples: Jo Burrow, David Bakhtiari, and J.K. Dobbins). That doesn't mean that they aren't successful or have no chance, it just has a chance to limit them like health does in any sport.

It was a good rant by Chris. He's right about a lot. The players in the NFL aren't there because they're the absolute most skilled at football. They're the most skilled at football that can take the punishment and just overall brutal nature of the game. Same with MMA. Those aren't the absolute most skilled fighters. They're the most skill that handle shots at 100%. Every MMA guy will tell you there's guys in their gym that whoop them in sparring which just tests pure skill. It's when that power goes it separates who makes it and who doesn't. NBA guys could add the size to play football and have the skills. I highly doubt they have the ability to handle how physical it is.

People think that football doesn’t require skill. That it’s a “tough guy” sport. Playing running back isn’t just about athleticism. Taking a handoff would confuse the average person. Mike declaration, getting off press, snap counts, reading coverages take time to learn. Chad Johnson couldn’t even play in the patriots offense.
Anthony Edwards playing safety? Could he even tell if it’s a run or a pass.

Lebron and many others would be flopping on the field, whining at the refs and blaming their coaches. Doesn't work in the NFL.
