      I agree with your sentiment, but I would not put him into great category. Greatness comes from working together with an organization and coaching. All of the greatest players in the world in the NBA was elevated to greatness by coaching. For me, LeBron James is the top of very good.
      Being very good in so far as he has only won championships with the greatest coaches of his time. His being uncatchable should be a serious discussion point but due to his savvy manipulation of the media and literal collusion with his organization working influencing peddling with the NBA prevents such wide base discussion. At least, the media Talking Heads know not to talk about it.
      Even the player I consider as the greatest human who ever played basketball in Wilt Chamberlain did not reach greatness all by himself and had to work within two great coaching season to get his championships in 67 and 72.

    • @garse70
      @garse70 Před 25 dny +4

      What does that have to do with coaching? Most of the best NBA coaches were role players. Some of them never played in the NBA…Spoelstra, Chuck Daly, Popovich, Mike Malone, Frank Vogel, Mike Budenholzer, Nick Nurse to name a few (14 rings). Some of the data shows that, superstar players, historically don’t always make the best coaches. Of course, Bird, Kidd maybe Doc (questionable), had success, but Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, KC Jones, Steve Kerr were all role players. Count the rings during their coaching tenure (23).
      Those coaches Have won 36 of the last 43 Championships.
      The Lakers know how they need to win. Rebound, Defense and Limit the turnovers. If JJ can show them data that proves this is how they win, it could work out.

    I understand him having no experience as a head coach or even a assistant coach is 100% definitely a legitimate concern. However i think the one thing JJ has that the other candidates don't have is Lebron's full respect. JJ would not hesitate to call Lebron or AD out or look any player in there face and get on them if needed. He's a former player, crazy high basketball IQ and having Brons respect is huge. The team will want to follow him. Ham could not yell in someone like Lebron's face. I have no doubt that Reddick would hold every player accountable and Bron would have no issue with it.
    Also Reddick being young and again the crazy high IQ, well respected someone who could be a coach in league 20+ years. I see a lot of similarities between him and Steve Kerr and i think Reddick would be a great coach.
    Chris Quinn, David Adelman, Micah Nori are the other candidates i would strongly consider if they don't hire Reddick

    • @Azikkii
      @Azikkii Před 25 dny

      JJ is actually extremely accountable and says whatever he wants no matter if it "hurts someone's ego". He's done this on ESPN and other interviews. Calls out Stephen A and if you remember he called out Kendrick Perkins for his trash take on the Jokic MVP last year, Perkins saying the voters were racist and JJ straight up yelled at him for saying that. He's done it straight to LeBron on their podcast as well. He made fun of LeBron for complaining about no foul calls, so if he can call out LeBron he can call out anybody.

    I think the Lakers are in deep doo doo if they sign Lebron to 150milllion/3yrs. I suppose giving Bronny a roster spot isn't that big of a deal. Maybe he would be the rare outcast who elevates his level playing with Lebron. But let's be real. Lebron has been a super demonstrative teammate the past few years. When things aren't going perfect, he lets the whole world know. He lost confidence in his coach, im his teammates and they all felt that. The pressure, the scrutiny. It didn't help his cause. Lebron needs to be a better leader and actually bring the team together. I cant see AD being as healthy as he was this season. If he plays 65 games next season id be shocked. And LaBron will be around the same number. They need an experienced coach like Byron Scott, Marc Jackson...someone Lebron will respect and someone who won't let Lebron undercut them. He doesn't get to decide how many minutes he plays so he can get his damn stats. They need his ass fresh for the playoffs. Hiring JJ for me, means they miss the playoffs. I don't see that working out too well.

    It’s funny this guy mentioned JJ Radick coming in with LeBron and identifying the teams problem/weakness.
    The first of which you would have an inexperienced head coach then the second would be your second best player is 40 years old and he’s calling all the shots and playing no defense when he’s on the court. As previously mentioned 40 years old. He’s not worthy of a max deal. He’s not worthy of an extension. This time is done.
    And as for drafting his son, the nepotism shouldn’t be this obvious. Secondly his son average less than 10 points a game. He’s only 6‘1“ tall. Those type of players are a dime a dozen, and he’s had heart problems, not even two years ago. I’d be worried of that.
    For those of us that remember Reggie, Louis and Hank gathers.
    So a rookie coach one of the premier franchises and all of sports as his first job where do you go from there?
    They already tried this with Luke Walton !!

    If they hire Reddick I'm selling my 40+ years of Lakers fandom on ebay. They both ignored all the coaches who have been successful all have assistant coaching experience, not a boring podcast. No not all the players will be with it as long as Lebron is cool. Experience is what they need. They need Mark Jackson but whatever, Lebron and Dlo aren't ready for that type of accountability. That's a shame, Lebron gonna be in his 22nd year and hasn't seen that kind of accountability since Ty Lue, and before that Riley, and before that Silas. I hoped Lebron would retire but since he won't at least make sure Klutch sports hasn't totally taken over the franchise by hiring Reddick.

    I don't care if JJ coaches the Lakers or not, but I think if he is a top candidate for the job, then the Lakers either don't value the importance of a head coach (because it really would be hiring a guy off the street) - or they fired the last guy without any clear direction on who the next guy would be. Neither direction speaks well to the leadership or the overall vision in the organization. JJ being hired by a team in the lower third of the league makes more sense than one that has superstars on the roster that have been sending the message that they are trying to win now.

      100%. At one point Colin's guest says something to the effect of, "Look, Darvin Ham learned on the job too…" Yeah - and he got fired after two seasons. You can learn on the job with a lousy team in a small market. Not on the Lakers.

    • @JetForceFive
      @JetForceFive Před 26 dny

      @user-qp6wm4bg1i Yeah, it just seems like an unnecessary gamble on a developmental head coach, when the Lakers and LeBron could probably attract just about anyone that is available.

    Bruh look who lebron has won with at coach, this is fake outrage. Lue has been choking his ass of on the clippers, last laker coach just got fired from the suns after losing in the first round with a big 3 and he won a ring with lebron. Lebron got mike Williams to the finals and kobe hated that man when he coached the lakers. It doesn’t matter if they hire jj because if lebron is on the team healthy they will make the playoffs. They can fire as soon as lebron retires, this isnt the nfl where coaches matter the most. Jj just has to know how to call a damn timeout the end
