- The Grenadier is a unique SUV from Ineos. On the outside of the Fieldmaster you will be greeted by a very old school appearance, off-road spec wheels, snorkel and extra lighting. On the inside you will be greeted by Recaro seats, and a 12.in infotainment system combines with digital gauge cluster. Under the hood is a 3.0L turbocharged inline-6 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2024 Ineos Grenadier a better SUV than a Toyota Land Cruiser?

These new Land Cruiser are special. The wheels, the front style and that snorkel that looks like a chimney! It makes me wanna put on a Pit helmet and head out to the safari!

I test drove them on Nantucket this past spring. Exceptional!!!
As a 3 time and current Landcruiser owner….but I have to say…..I don’t hate it. Looks pretty cool.
Joe, to pay 81k for the vehicle, I think you would really have to be committed to the old school look and feel.

With the insane prices of those custom Ford Broncos and restored Land Rovers this is a deal. I thought the interior features might match the exterior, which would have lead to a price of about $140K. Those cheap switches and no real gauges shows where they saved money. Still, if I'd won the lottery, this might be something I'd buy. Just to have something different, that nobody else has got!
@@crunchers9 I feel you, but after checking my neighbors new purchase out, I feel a lot better about my new AT4X HD. But at the end of the day it's different strokes for different folks, especially when we're talking about trucks that are old school supercar prices these days.
The gloss black looks silly in a vehicle like this. Love the “zonking” “to the door panels” and all the wonderful things you come up with to put on pockets and compartments lol. I love watching this guy.

@@passZword lol I mean it though the new G-wagons are not very off road capable with those ridiculously huge rims they have. They are all fragile and full of tech that can break. The US market needed a more bare bones truck that can take some beating with front and rear solid axles.

A 1980's solid axle metal bumper truck with modern lighting and interior. Too bad im poor.
A big reason why someone would buy this over a new Land Cruiser is due to the addition of the solid front axles. Hardcore off-road enthusiasts want the most wheel articulation as possible, which is more limited on Land Cruisers due to their independent front suspension. Along with the extremely reliable BMW B58 engine and ZF 8-speed automatic that Toyota uses in their Supras, it’s understandable why Grenadiers are selling above $50,000.

One of my neighbors just got one, fully loaded, and I couldn't believe it cost as much as my AT4X HD.
The AT4X is garbage.
The real strength of the Ineos is underneath. The size of the track rods, the massive over-engineered difs, the 3mm plate steel instead of 1mm for the box chassis and so forth. Its primarily for weeks in the bush not street.

The new Land Cruiser is just another ifs, light duty, no front locker suv for the masses. The Grenadier is an unbreakable one ton running gear monster with proven mechanical items and a sexy appearance

Hey Joe, is 90 MPH top speed too slow! I am sure 90 is plenty speed for safari however, I think most of the people buying this would be safaring at the stadium tailgating. Your videos are as entertaining as they are informative, thanks J!

Nice safari rig. This is one of the coolest vehicles out there as far as off-road SUVs go. I dig it Joe. I would be willing to bet this thing is rock solid. I personally would spend my money on a sweet sports sedan but to each their own. ✌️

they're in the same spot the radio has been in cars for 60 years. most people turn their head and eyes to see something 12 inches beside them, not lean their entire body over.
very unique SUV for sure and does have the old school Land Rover style which isn't a bad thing. For that price it should have ventilated seats and a better infotainment setup.

This isn’t a SUV it’s a 4x4! There’s a difference with different expectations.
Lots of reviews seem to indicate these are more reliable than Land Rover vehicles but i'm not a fan of its looks or the Toyota Land Cruiser for that matter, these look like a vehicle you would drive on an African Safari. Its a niche market as just certain people will like the look.
It’s a cool looking vehicle, but if you had to make a choice, you’d have to go with the Land Cruiser, especially Toyota even with their troubles lately.

It is NOT a snorkle, it is not sealed against "H2O" dude. It is a raised air intake for cleaner air on dusty trails. It does NOT improve wading depth.
is there a 2 door only on this model?? could of sworn i seen a olive 2 door version today on the freeway had very similar tail lights.

It doesn’t have ventilated seats because this is supposed to be an off-road vehicle. That’s easy to fix if something breaks. It purposely doesn’t have a lot of technology.

Probably one of the scariest vehicles to drive over 40 mph. The steering is notoriously so bad that the first thing all owners do is get a wheel alignment correction. Yes it's different, but so much of it was done so poorly. I loved it until I got to know it.

The Bmw engine is fantastic, Toyota uses it as well. Here it is detuned for offroad, in racecars it produces over 600 hp. Here it is about longevity

These are 18s it’s a raised air intake ad the L track is t fitted to that vehicle oh and the 0 60 on a B58 is near 8.6seconds

Leave it to the British top come up with ugly stuff. The hood is the nicest thing on that, the rest, too much of a copy. The B58 is a good engine, actually an excellent engine, but above average nightmare the moment one forgoes maintenance. Will do fine in rural use, but not sure about bush riding. But then again, what else there is out there one can shove in there? Not much. Unless you fit an LS engine. LOL

The factory is in France, but barely, its the former Mercedes factory near Strassbourg on the german border. Ineos kept everything. German tooling and all the german enginers.
Something truly unique would be the Yangwang U8.
