It’s easy to spot the comments from people that actually make car payments vs. those whose mommy just yelled at them to take the trash out.😂

  • @jonzaremba

Great 3rd vehicle for rich people who don't need to consider 5 years ahead.

The price is the biggest problem

I’m glad you all are sort of liking it… I’m just not convinced… I DID have a pre-order in for one. I backed out after seeing one in person. The 2nd row doesn’t fold flat, the battery is under the back seat but there are no key holes to unlock the back doors or interior blips to flick to unlock the back doors, the power steering pump is ran by an electric motor turning a pump when you have a gas engine under the hood that can do it just fine. THAT adds to the complexity. Like Roman said, the grenadier is just as complicated as any BMW but you just don’t get all the features of a BMW, nor access to the BMW warranty network. When I test drove one, that key isn’t like old school ignitions where it directly engages a starter solenoid, that key just tells the computer to start the car. That’s not “simple” or “old school” it’s simulated “old school”. The transmission has no mechanical shift linkage, so if you have an electrical failure off-roading and you can’t get power, how do you put the thing in neutral? My understanding on BMW’s you gotta lay under the car and do something funky. With it being full time 4x4 there isn’t even a mechanical neutral to the transfer case. Then you add in things like electronic level adjustments to the headlights, it’s just too much to go wrong and too many electrical stuffs. Where they put the power steering electric motor they could have moved the pump to the engine and put the battery where the pump is at now. I can go on… this isn’t a “haters gonna hate” this is a I left them a deposit and waited to see the final product but was deeply disappointed. Then you add that any dealer is 80 miles one way from my house and from what I’ve heard, parts are SUPER expensive I’ve heard a key is over $1,000. Why? Haha that’s crazy. The list goes on. Even things like the air con. You pick a temperature, it has automatic climate control, what’s the matter with 4 fan speeds and a lever to actuate between hot and cold and an button that turns on a little relay that engages the air conditioning compressor? Why did they have to go automatic climate control? Now you have little motors under the dash that open and close valves and ducts and stuff. ALL of that adds to the complexity!

The UK spec offers several versions significantly cheaper than this, including the commercial versions that don't have side windows or back seats. They also have the Quartermaster pickup version, which can even be ordered as a cab/chassis without a bed, which will be a very popular foundation for people building overland campers. Ineos made a very deliberate decision to only offer the Grenadier in the US as a very low volume but highly priced vehicle.

The father/son bond is incredible. I hope to have this relationship with both of my baby boys. I love you guys so much. God bless you and your family

  • @bryanlorang417

For what these costs I'll take the new Land Cruiser or the Overland GX550. Really no excuse for the lack of content (heated seats, blind spot monitoring, etc.) at this price point.

  • @qx4n9e1xp

I love this truck. ❤❤ Truly an old shcool, utilitarian vehicle.

  • @gregferris9378

I started driving in 1969 and this vehicle has electronics like a spaceship compared to anything I had back then. When I'm speeding I know I'm speeding I don't need a vehicle to tell me not to. If it weren't for the price I'd love to have this vehicle.

  • @benjaminwilley3578

My Grenadier has no speed warning. Turned off and stays off from delivery. I've owned it 9months and covered 6000miles. It is a diesel and I'm in the UK. Great channel guys.👍

  • @markryl-kuchar2373

I don’t hate the way the screen is monochromatic since I find myself driving at night a lot and it is way less distracting than a more colorful display is to me

  • @bradh7472

I think the steel wheels are a right choice for this vehicle! It goes with the purposeful part of the vehicle. Love them and happy to see others starting to offer. I would not want aluminum on this.

  • @joelortiz9774

“It’s a real off roader, triple locked, no fake hood scoops!” If that wasn’t an obvious dig at Toyota.. and so far, in all the episodes about this Grenadier, it’s the same story “it’s a real truck!” -Much like a lot of the other comments, keep it for more than a year and let it prove that it’s got the quality and legs to really hang with the tried and truly tested Jeep Wranglers, 4Runners, Broncos, and Defenders. $80K+ is a lot to spend on “initial quality” & gimmicks. $.02

  • @Blacksheep7_Retired

My grandfather had a Toyota FJ40 in a very similar color. That is one vehicle I miss.

  • @petemiller519

I think I'll stick to my 2010 2 door JK. Bought it for 17k Canadian (13k US) with 30,000 miles. Installed a 2 1/2" lift, stubby bumpers, winch, 35" tires, and old school KC incandescent Daylighters with the happy faces🙂. All in it was under 17k US about 5 years ago. Love the truck, brings back memories when I take off the top and throw in some CCR, as I used to own a 74 CJ5 with a 304 V8 and side pipes in the 70's. That thing was so cool, wish I never sold it. Cheers from Canada.

  • @robinclarke2152

I love how Roman complains that there are no heated seats when he specced the truck! Same with the Tacoma, they got the poverty spec and he complains about all the blank switches on the console.

  • @coltoncj1

Working for a John Deere Dealership, I deal with ZF tand Carraro all the time. These are transmissions and axles used in construction equipment! Pretty cool to see that stuff end up in a passenger car!

  • @ruk2023--

The speed alert thing is infuriating. It's mandatory on all new EU cars now. I imagine it won't be too long before the USA adopts something similar unfortunately.

  • @Shivnandak

I’ve heard that the reason for the turning circle is the Kingpin knuckle. Apparently it is much more expensive, stronger, easier to maintain and far more durable. Almost all manufacturers have cut corners and stopped using kingpins. It really shows that the engineers genuinely were designing a truly capable off-roader.
