    If you're new to my channel and videos, hi! I'm Evan Edinger, and I make travel vlogs of all the exciting places I visit. I started travel vlogging about 8 years ago because I wanted to see more of the world and be able to watch back some of my adventures. I also make weekly comedy videos every Sunday on my main channel usually revolving around funny differences between British vs American things! Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

    I would absolutely be up for a big stroopwafel comparison video. I've only ever had store-bought, so I'm now wondering how the fresh ones differ, too.

    • @frankhooper7871
      @frankhooper7871 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Fresh ones are miles [or maybe kilometres] better 😊

      So much better! Just warm and gooey 🥰 But here's a tip from the Dutch, when having a store-bought stroopwafel, make some tea to go with it and place the stroopwafel on top of the mug so the steam warms it up a bit ☺

      I'm at both this summer 😂. Euros is hard to get tickets but cheaper, Olympic tickets for some events are quite easy but paris costs a fortune next summer

    Welcome to The Netherlands, lovely to have you. I am glad you are enjoying in. Just a heads up, cycling while filming with a camera or phone in your hand is actually illegal! If they catch you, the fibe will be more than €100. That is a lot of stroopwafels you could have enjoyed! See you next time! If you want a change of scenery, may I suggest to cone visit Utrecht?

    • @Mrmayhembsc
      @Mrmayhembsc Před 3 měsíci +1

      I didn't realise it was illegal, doesn't stop people lol.
      I also 2nd Utrecht !!! One of my fav places in NL. Though there are so many other places to visit in the Netherlands that I'd recommend over Amsterdam, haha. I explored s'hertogenbosch last steptember which was really nice.

    • @Ecesu
      @Ecesu Před 3 měsíci

      @Mrmayhembsc Yeah because too many people were cycling with phones in their hand checking maps, texting the whole time, etc. and not paying attention to their surroundings so now there's a fine. Not sure if its heavily enforced though.

    • @Mrmayhembsc
      @Mrmayhembsc Před 3 měsíci +1

      @Ecesu rightfully so. However, going on all the visits (I have been to at least five provinces since 2019, including multiple trips to North Brabant and Utrecht), they don't enforce it. I know in Flanders, Belgium, they just launched a campaign against it. One of my favourite singers, Pommelien Thijs, just released a song about it.

    • @mavadelo
      @mavadelo Před měsícem +1

      @@Mrmayhembsc Just as with having a light or bell on your bike, enforcement totally depends on the mood of the officer. Also smaller towns tend to enforce small violations less than bigger cities but it is hardly noticable in bigger cities because your chances of the one being caught are less smaller.

    The things that foreigners do to get a stroopwafel from a tiktok shop which is 10 times more expensive and 10 times less tasty than an ordinairy fresh baked stroopwafel on the Albert Cuyp or Dappermarkt breaks my heart every time.. You will NEVER see a local in line of those tiktok shops. 5 years ago it was all about those lousy Nutella shops here in A'dam.. These days it's full of stroopwafel crap shops.

    Go to a normal market and get stroopwafels there. It will be cheaper and will taste good. Also, you can get a bag of "kruimels" wich are offcuts from the wafels.

    AirBNB is the biggest cause for the current house shortage in Amsterdam. Financial conglomerates buy up all the houses to convert them to short-stay tourist accomodation, that makes way more profit than renting them to long-stay occupants. With the result that people from Amsterdam can't even live in the city anymore. This has to stop.

  • @richardtalbot8769

    Amsterdam is nice for a first-time tourist - but try to get out of the city - I often stay in Utrecht, it has a teapot on top of a car park and a flying saucer on the Pro-Rail building.
    I am not keen on Stroopwafel but give me a warme kaasbroodje instead.

    Biggest mistake is not ever visiting Gouda to eat the original stroopwafels… sticking to Amsterdam tsktsk smh.
    I live in the province South-Holland not all too far from Gouda so am somewhat familiar with the town I can easily google you some of the best stroopwafel addresses over there. Or is there some other map thing to pin recommendations on a map and place it in comments? (Do let me know I can totally pin some highlights in my province in so far I know them, even some in neighbouring provinces and so on) you really need to get your behind out of Amsterdam.
    Cheese market (in Gouda) also starts again in April I think? (Thursdays) but it is very touristy I have seen on an other youtube video of people exploring. Still if one likes touristy that may be just the thing. Otherwise and less cheesy it is a good town for a daytrip wander.

    • @jack_elliott
      @jack_elliott Před 3 měsíci +2

      @EvanEdingerTravel I take it this was booked at short notice, however booking a few months in advance, it can be cheaper than flying. Not to mention more comfortable, faster, and results in 94% less carbon emissions.
      Train:
      Zone 2/3 to Zone 1 fare £3.40x2
      Eurostar £39x2
      Total: £84.80
      Plane:
      Tfl thru zone 1 to Heathrow fare (Liz line) £13.30x2
      Flight (return price) £57~
      Schiphol to Centraal £5x2
      Total: £93.60
      So I will take you up on the offer of paying the difference! 😉

    • @evan
      @evan Před 3 měsíci +4

      @@jack_elliott the ol "just book a year in advance" argument
      I mean sure
      I took the eurostar to dam in August when I snagged a deal
      obviously it's nicer
      but this is pretty self-evident!
      Then again, your comment was an honest question, so please forgive me if my written tone comes off as salty :P It's not meant to be. I would have loved to take the eurostar again but the disparity in price made it insensible for the budget I had for this trip (which was literally being a +1 anyway where everything was booked for me by the podcast lads haha)
      so uh... blame them ;P

    If you were a professional you be in Wales hunting down the factory that makes the Tregroes Waffles!
    or in other words welsh toffee waffles - it kicks any other Stroopwafel between its legs and then takes its lunch money!
    And make sure you bring your diabetes kit because boy they are sweet - they make Cadbury's Creme Eggs taste bitter by comparison
