North Maroon Peak - Colorado 14er Dayhike

- The Maroon Bells (North and South Maroon Peak) are Colorado’s most recognized mountains, for these peaks are likely the most photographed mountains in North America. The popularity is easily explainable; in spring, summer, fall and winter, these peaks are stunning to look at. North Maroon isn’t as strenuous, and doesn’t have the route finding issues of South Maroon but, it is steeper and more technical.
Excellent documentation of the trail and lovely camera. Be safe out there and wear a helmet for the goats 🐐
Thanks Grant! See you on the trails!
My hands and feet are always soaked with sweat after your vids! Thanks for the views, from everyone who is scared shirtless of exposure!
Thank you Isabella. I really loved this hike and the risk on weather was higher than I normally preferred in hiking 14ers yet the reward was a safe journey and incredible clouds.
Great hike, congrats 🎉. Usually I don’t like clouds ☁️ on my hikes, but for this one it was a bonus! Great views and some cool hiking companions. BTW, goats are jerks…
This was a great day. The chance to precip was very high. Took a big risk and it paid off with incredible views!
Wow, this one is really spooky up on top! I’ve been most everywhere you can jeep to in Colorado .
But I can’t imagine being on top of those particular mountains.
I'd love to experience engineers pass!
@@FoorTrek That’s a good one.
I listen and watch your videos daily on youtube while on the eliptical. 5 years ago at 5'9" I weighted 254 lbs. I found myself at 13,150 on Quandary and unable to continue...and it had always been a dream of mine to climb. I went to work...diet and exercise and lost over 100lbs. The next year I did Quandary and the Decalibron. So far I've done 11 summits of 7 different 14ers....and I'm gonna do even more. Your videos are a source of inspiration for me! KEEP THEM COMING!
WAY TO GO ANDREW! That's what I call dedication. As you've learned, it's a lifestyle choice to get better if you wanna climb.
I still come back time and time again to watch your videos Dr Foor. Your videos helped me to hike my first 14er (Mt Huron)! I truly appreciate the time you take to film your journeys and inspire others. Thankyou
Thank you so much Chase for the kind words. Make sure you follow me on Instagram or Twitter as I've gone some amazing hikes coming up.
DId pyramid last weekend and a Mountain goat followed me all the way to the summit for the last mile
They sure like salt.
Awesome. I’ve knocked out 20 14ers in the past year since moving to CO but my trips are currently on hold due to the smoke. I’m hoping I can get back at it soon and keep working my way to being a finisher in 2021. I always check to see if you have a video of a peak while planning my hikes to help with the beta. Thanks for filming these videos! I apologize if I missed you saying it in the video, but how many do you have left? I imagine you must be close to finishing the 14ers.
Congrats on your success Eric. Make sure you subscribe! As for how many I have left, stay tuned. :-)
Awesome!! Your reaction at the summit was great 😂
Fantastic!
Excellent camera work and editing.
Thank you for sharing
Thank you Kirk!
So amazing! Very beautiful conditions. So jealous watching this.
I love your videos! I'm 52 and haven't been to Colorado in 31 years (college ski trip to Winter Park), but I can't wait to go back and hike some 14ers. The Bells are definitely on my bucket list.
Thanks for the comment Scott. So many 14ers, such little time. Make sure you get to enjoy the majesty of Colorado this summer!
Man those summit views were just unreal. Terrific job, thank you for the video Professor!!
That was a great hike !
Thank you for allowing us to enjoy the beauty and majesty of this 14'er !
My pleasure Angela. It was a real blast to hike.
Thanks for sharing! I'll be hiking this one early September. How was the route finding? Any tips with that or anything else? Looks like a stunning day you had!!
Incredible! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing! I can't wait to get up there! And now I can't wait for the Snowmass video!

Amazing up in those clouds Wow!! beautiful hike down as well, glad you beat the rain!
Love it! Great adventure.
Well done Dr. Foor.
Love your videos Dr. Foor! Just finished my first 14’er a couple of weeks ago and plan to do many more! I get excited when I see you’ve released a new video! Lol! Living vicariously thru you, I suppose. Keep hiking and keep sharing! You really are my favorite hiking professor! 😁
Thank you Chase. Please subscribe!
Amazing. Utterly Amazing.
That was my feeling at the summit.
@@FoorTrek Right-on
proud of you Dr. Foor! I remember watching your videos years ago, and they inspired me to start climbing. Now look at you! getting those class 4 14’ers! Best of luck to you in your future climbs! God bless
Thank you Ben. It's been quite a journey.
Just did mount Sherman as my fist 14er on Saturday! Thanks for the great vids ! Coming from North Carolina it was definitely tough because of the altitude Acclimatization, tried shavono and ran out of daylight. Keep it up!
Congrats Michael. Sounds like you're hooked!
Great hike and great shots....if I may, what type of camera do you use?
iPhone xs max
I just hiked Pyramid Peak. Individually, how comparable are NM and M to Pyramid in terms of sections of hiking. I especially curious bout the steepness of the NM gullies.
Congrats Emily on Pyramid! They're all steep and loose rock. Nothing like the elks. North Maroon gullies are very steep and route finding can be tricky as there were cairns that were misplaced, yet if you have the 14ers app, follow photos, and have coordinates, you'll find your way. Maroon I found route finding to be a more difficult than North Maroon or Pyramid.
Nice job, majestic shots from the peak!. I wish I had Gina and Chris to lead when I was there. Loose is the operative word. Where was your helmet, we can’t afford to lose you. Can’t wait to see upcoming Snowmass video.
Those ladies rock and it was a real pleasure to hike with them.
Following the cute girls, I see how it is. . . Those clouds were cool! I had an early September snow, beautiful but. . . tough climbing especially on the traverse. . .Nice job brother! Seize the day!
This video made my day
Your message made mine! Thanks Jason!
Nice Work!! Great Views! Congrats on finishing those 3. We are doing Snowmass on Aug 29th if interested. We are doing the 'S' ridge. First time I did it, we did the west ridge, which was fun, but 'S' ridge looks like a blast! I am done with the 58 and 4 traverses, and this will be #58 for my buddy. Let us know if you want to knock that one off.
Congrats to you and your friend. Incredible accomplishments!
Wow - beautiful hike, beautiful climbing, and truly magnificent scenery. Only problem is sense of acrophobia one experiences while watching you do those steep drop=off slopes!
love it!!!
Thank you Joe!
Was Maroon or N. Maroon more difficult?
For me, Maroon was more difficult. I struggled with route finding but also didn't feel good all day.
wow.
legend! still a little too sketchy for me but very beautiful!!
I’m supposed to be doing the loop next weekend. Coming from okc. I wonder if the fires are ruining the views.
Aspen is far enough south that you might be lucky that it blows usually from west to east.
However, lately, the wind has been coming out of the north which is really bad luck for visibility.
Everyday is an unknown at this point. Tim is right. The fires are getting bigger. Until they're contained and that seems like it is going to be a while.
Okay thank you! I just hope everyone there stays safe even if we do have to reschedule. As of right now it looks like our drive is clear of fires if we are able to use independence pass, which I am unfamiliar with unfortunately. If not, then CB May be our best option. Problem being I drive a bmw and don’t think it will do well on the CB side.
@@nonstop1861 . Independence Pass is a good bet, but the last I heard there's a 2 hour delay on the 2 hour detour. Great views, but half of the Interstate traffic is trying to use the pass. There's 3 spots where it's single lane, and you squeeze by as you can. I've heard about Cottonwood Pass too. It's a dirt road though.
Timothy Haines ahhh got it. Yea my issue is I drive a ‘83 bmw 320i so it doesn’t do to great on dirt roads that’s for sure lol
Huge congratulations, Dr. Foor! So happy for you. You are so inspirational! BTW, what gloves are you using for your Bells hikes? They look really good for grabbing rocks. Thanks for everything you are doing. Looking forward to seeing you on Snowmass Mountain.
Thank you Marcus. They are gardening gloves at your local WalMart. :-)
Amazing views!! Was this footage taken before the wildfires? I’m wondering what you think about hiking the Decalibron- I’ve read that even if the wildfires are far away, the smoke can be dangerous. Do you have any thoughts?
Yes, before the wildfires. Certainly the smoke can be dangerous, but monitor NOAA and where the smoke will be because it changes. Pick a good weather day and lower smoke levels.
did you notice any of the smoke in the air when you were hiking? I was planning on doing maroon.
This hike was before the terrible fires.
FoorYourSuccess aw man :( may have to hold off until next month. if you go hiking during this time show us
What other wildlife have you encountered while hiking Colorado?
Just about everything except mountain lion.
So I guess you got the band back together and with 2 chicks!!!
We're on a mission...
At this point are there any 14ers in Colorado left for you to summit?🤣
Wait and see...
