Chinese Painting Pomegranate on Shikishi Style Pre-mounted Xuan Paper by Ning Yeh

- Chinese Brush Painting Master Ning Yeh showcases a new style of one of the most exciting classes of new paper that OAS has released in the last 10 years. Most beginning students of Chinese painting are surprised to discover that Chinese brush paintings must be finished with a traditional wet mounting process to be suitable for framing or showing.
The delicate paper used in Chinese painting often buckles when subjected to the ink, color and water used in Chinese painting and the colors of the original painting often fade after the painting is dry. During the traditional wet mounting process, the delicate paper is glued to a reenforcing backing paper and the process flattens and strengthens the paper and restores the colors back to their original brilliancy.
Although anyone learn the wet mounting process, it does become an obstacle to many interested in showing, selling or gifting their work to others. This is why we are so excited about the new Pre-mounted papers. These papers take the traditional paper used in Chinese painting and pre-mount them to backing papers with the thickness of card stock. This offers a "ready right away" experience for Chinese brush painters as paintings done on these papers are ready for showing, selling, framing or gifting immediately after they are dry.
The new Shikishi style Pre-mounted Xuan paper mimics the look of traditional Japanese Shikishi boards while being more affordable and available. Paint along with Ning as he explores Pomegranate on this new paper!

Gosh I just love your brushstrokes and color choices. I grew up with a pomegranate tree which was right next to our backyard fence and so much of the fruit would hang over into our yard. Fortunately we were very friendly with our neighbours who didnt mind us picking the fruit on our side of the fence😋So many happy memories today, thank you!
