*Is buying a Tuxedo worth your money?*
Should you just rent one instead? When is the best time to rent vs buy a Tuxedo?
I talk about this topic in this video:

#Tuxedo #BlackTie
I bought a tuxedo at Bergdorf's for $626.45. I got lucky it was on sale form $1200.00 it was a Thomas Pink.
@Alexanderhakki I don't like pinstripes in odd jackets - the only blazers that should have stripes are regatta blazers.
@SirBlade666 GREAT example - very sound logic here.
Antonio, great video. What about investing in a white tie ensemble?
@TheStrazy - Spats are a military relic and used today by working men for protection - I don't think they should be worn in formal wear unless it's a black tie even in a mud field or inclement weather.
I actually was able to find a authentic Brooks Brothers peak lapel tuxedo EXTRAORDINARILY cheap used (but in new condition), and it is my size, so I bought it. I don't own the pants, shirt, vest, or right shoes, but do you think if I have it looked at by a tailor, this can be the starting point for a quality look? I am in college so I do not have the resources to go out and buy a brand new tux. Thanks again for making the great videos.
could you please recommend me nice affordable tuxedo brand ?
Thanks in advance
Well, I think I'm done growing but even then I was and I still am a difficult man to fit, so no way I can rent. I'm 5 ft 6 and 110 pounds and any off the rack trouser won't stay on my 24" waist and even though size 34 otr jackets fit me in the shoulders, they are still long in my arms, so do the shirt sleeves. Shoes are similar, even though I can find eur size 40, my instep is low and court shoes slip out, a pair of loafers that I really liked that were on sale slipped on the heel significantly and most off the rack shoe lasts don't fit me. However I do own quarter brogues that I can use with black tie, but white tie is another story. In conclusion, if you are a difficult man to fit, you have no option but to buy. For me money has been an issue so I have worn my black suit, starched white shirt, pre-made bowtie and quarter brogue oxfords for every black tie event after dark. I hope that I can change it sometime in the future.
Are spats acceptable?

I'm 15 and I need a tuxedo for a wind ensemble concert. Would it be alright if I rented?
+Mos Defect Yes, rent as you are still growing
@@RealMenRealStyle I agree, even for a high school prom, I would also suggest wait till you reach about 25 years old (or when you have shopped growing)_ And then buy one, slightly bigger so it can be taken in now, however, as men age, we get bigger (i.e. stomach) it cab taken out latter!
Also get to know a Taylor and his/her name, it will assist you for 90% of your tailoring needs!
Can you rent a tuxedo, but still stay in black tie rules and just get a classic black and white?
+Salty Ramen It really depends. If you're only going to wear this once in your entire life, then it's going to be better if you rent a tuxedo.
i found a tuxedo for 100 dollars
My Tuxedo I paid under $20 _(NZD),_ the waistcoat, $2.00; Jacket _(Shawl)_ $5.00; Bow tie $1.00; trousers $5.00; Black capped Oxfords $5.00 all from a thrift shop! They were _(still)_ in great condition!
