    2, Markets
    Besides the Central Market Hall, you can look at places like Rákóczi Téri Vásárcsarnok, Hunyadi Téri piac, Klauzál Piac or alternatively Fény Utcai Piac, or Lehel téri Piac. ("Piac" means Market, and Vásárcsarnok means "Market Hall")
    3, Thermal Baths

    Cheaper alternatives include: Veli Bej, Lukács Thermal Bath, Dandár Thermal Bath, or Palatinus Strand or Paskál Fürdő

    To feel the Budapest atmosphere even more, it's a good idea to take bus number 7 and visit the Market Hall at Bosnyak ter in the Zugló district. An unusual idea (for those who have a lot of time) may also be a walk through... the Kerepesi Cemetery, which is the Hungarian equivalent of Pere Lachaise in Paris.
    Thanks for another interesting episode. 👍

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  Před 4 měsíci +3

      Bus 7 is a major line going through most of Budapest all the way from the outskirts in Pest and Down in Buda, through the center of the city stopping at Keleti railway station, Blaha Lujza square and Astoria. Sitting through the whole line is like getting a crash course in Budapest from the Panel Buildings from Socialist times, through the peaceful suburbs with houses and gardens, through the city center with older and more crumbling buildings but also the refurbished areas too.

    Love your videos, they are always so helpful :) I just went to Budapest last month but I'm considering coming back for the New Year. Is it possible for you to make a video about that at one point? Because until now I haven't been able to find any useful videos about where to stay, where to eat and where to go on New Years Eve.

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Thank you! Glad you find them useful! :) Regarding New Years eve, we'll probably won't be making a video about that any time soon. What I can tell you is that there are two kinds of people when it comes to new years: Those who either spend the eve with their friends/family, or those who go out to bars, clubs or roam the streets for fun. There will still be a lot of people in the city center :) Places like bars and restaurants don't become "better or special" for new years, so essentially, there isn't any particular place to recommend for the evening. If you wish to have a nice dinner at a restaurant, you should book a table in advance, and for some clubs and bars, there may be a queue to get in. Of course people are a bit more upbeat and energetic, so that is what really defines the new years, and not the places themselves :) Regarding where to stay, during the night, the night service buses operate, and of course it's a prime day for taxi drivers (just don't use freelancers, only use taxis via apps, like Bolt). Since it's a popular time to visit Budapest, prices for Hotels may be a bit higher, and availability may be less. I hope these notes help a bit :)

      Hey there! Unfortunately I am not too familiar with hostels and hotels near Puskás Stadium, but I would say try to look for one on the northern side of Kerepesi road (running on the south side of the stadium) that area is more convenient, south of the road there is a large historic cemetery and lots of train tracks 😊 Budapest is generally safe, so you should be fine if you remain on the northern side of the road I mentioned 😊

      Perhaps for Budapest only: yes it may be more than enough, but 7 days gives you opportunity to do some day trips like going to Szentendre, hike in the Buda mountains, visit Esztergom or Visegrád, or spend an evening in Eger to have some wine, or spend a day at Balaton (during summer). So even a 7 day itinerary can get easily full if you expand your scope beyond Budapest :)

    Szia Akos! I visited Budapest twice long ago (1996 and 2001) and found very affordable food at little stand up places to eat called, I think, "Buffe". They had lots of open faced sandwiches, whole fried fish on sticks, small salads, etc. Do those still exist in Budapest or are they all long gone? Your videos are great and keep making them and I am sure more followers will come!

      There are still a few Büfé style places but not too many in the center, few in some markets, indeed those are also a cheap alternative but have less local flavours, more like standard stuff, however I do enjoy a schnitzel sandwich from Büfés sometimes 😊

      Thanks, glad you enjoy the content 😊 to be honest, there aren't many non touristy restaurants in the central area. Not a hole in the wall but closer to authentic may be Regős Vendéglő. A place that I recently found and is more of an authentic rusty place was Cibere Étkezde, but that's not a restaurant it's more of a buffet style restaurant, but I enjoyed the simple food and the atmosphere, definately not a tourist spot 😊

I would suggest visiting it perhaps in the afternoon as during the evening it can get packed, but on a Saturday afternoon it can be a very fun experience :) For restaurants, a few places to grab Hungarian food is Retek Bisztro or Gettó Gulyás, but for more contemporary food I really like Vakvarjú and Vígvarjú restaurants. The Budapest Card can be purchased at a few locations in the city like at Deák tér in the center there is a large booth with large signs, hard to miss, or at BKK customer service centers, like at Keleti or Kelenföld railway station (I don't see one at Nyugati railway station). If you are looking for the regular public transport pass, most stations have vending machines, or the Budapest Go app can be used for digital tickets 😊

      Hey there! There aren't many things that are specific to Winter time in Budapest (except for the Christmas markets but those are not open in January any more). If there is snow, than going to Buda Mountains or at least to Normafa for a hike. If you enjoy ice skating then the Városligeti Outdoor Icerink is a historic place, one of the largest outdoor rinks in Europe. Other than these, you can pretty much enjoy the City almost the same way as any time of the year :)

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  Před 3 měsíci

      Hey there! Within the boundaries of Budapest all public transport vehicles can be used, but from tourism perspective, the Blue Buses, red trolley buses, yellow trams and green Hév (suburban railway) are all usable under the 24h travel pass. Just note that the special service bus from Airport to city center is excluded, it requires its own special ticket. We have a video where we explain the most important information about public transport, you can check that out too 😊

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  Před měsícem

      Hey there! The difference in the words used mainly refers to the target audience but anyone can buy these. The 15 day pass is mainly focusing on Commuters, but you can still buy that as a tourist 😊 these are valid from purchase or time you set as validity start. You don't need to separately validate them, but with front boarding vehicles you'll need to scan a qr code and show your display to the driver to prove you have a valid pass/travelcard.

      In Budapest itself driving around with a car may be a nightmare at times, and parking can get expensive in the center. Honestly, getting around is easier with public transport. Going to other cities and areas in Hungary is a different story: While trains and long distance buses are okay, sometimes it's faster to go by car, and parking is easier vs in Budapest. 🙂

    How much is the liquor in budapest

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  Před měsícem

      Hey there. That depends on many things, the type of alcohol (Beer, Wine, Hard liqeur etc.) and also the place. A beer can be anything from 800 huf to 1800 huf or even more. 1 dl of wine will start from around same but can go sky high depending on quality. Whiskey, Pálinka etc can be from 1000 huf to 2000 huf or even more.... in outer districts you'll get the cheaper prices while in the center and at popular areas it will be expensive (like a beer in Szimpla kert is more 1800-2000 huf, Pálinka around 2500 huf etc.)

  • @DLGemma
    @DLGemma Před 3 dny

    Budapest used to be nice and cheap. I just returned from Budapest and things have changed a lot!!! The single ticket rule where you spend 1,25 euros for a single ride is just ridiculous. Now, almost everyone is rude and doesn't speak English and clearly they don't want tourists. On the other hand they completely overcharge them. For example a normal Langos should cost 2,50 euros but in most places they charge you around 10 euros. The same goes with the chimney cakes. The simplest one is 5 euros where it should be 2. If you add ice cream the price goes up to 10 euros. Furthermore they now charge the entrance to the Basilica for almost 7 euros. Ridiculous. They even charge the view from the Buda castle to Pest. I couldn't find a place that didn't want to rip me off and eat at normal prices. Every dish was highly overpriced. They charge 15% service even if you take it away. Not to mention the water. It costs 1 euro even at super markets like Spar. Cappuccino for 4,5 euros take away and simple ice creams for 5 euros. They think they are actually Paris. I talked with a lot of locals on the roads (mainly young people) and everybody agreed with me on these topics. All these combined with the rudeness. I am never going back. Never.

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  Před 3 dny

      Sad to hear the city has let you down... honestly I think that Overcharging tourists is not specific to Budapest, a lot of cities that are popular with visitors unfortunately do similar things :( However as this and other of our videos show, there are ways to avoid the "tourist tax". But yes, in general over the last few years prices have gone up, and salaries didn't follow :(
