The best !! The best !!
Spooky
and to you too ) thank you x
Beautiful
The way Bowie steps back during chorus only proves once again he is a pure gentleman
That's it. No ego battle here. Just two gentlemen doing what they do best.
True ❤️
He knows how important and iconic Pink Floyd are to British music, almost on par with him. He's not stupid!
Too bad he wasn't a gentleman to Stevie Ray Vaughan.
he seems to be worried or scared
Personnally, I think Bowie adds a completely new dimension to this song and it is a strike of genius that he doesn't try to replicate Waters' vocals but adds his own completely unique twist.
Ima big Bowie fan but I think his contribution detracts from the “numbing effect” of the feel of the song
@@22448824 i was thinking the same thing...it is supposed to be a dark somber experience, not to show off flashy style singing or theatrical emotions
@@tonybryan9976 well said! He makes the lyrics his own. Singing between the notes is not easy and yet it's perfectly pitched.
He made it unmistakably Bowie 💪
Bowie can sing, waters cannot.
I never knew that I needed to hear David Bowie sing Comfortably Numb. Until now.
Vero!!!
Same
It completely changes that part of the song, amazing
😥
He blows Roger Waters away (IMO).
...and suddenly, for 8 minutes, everything in the world was perfect.
Shame it is not for 18 or even 80 minutes. I listen to this masterpiece evey day when I do my exercises. And time flies by. Best version is the one in Gdansk though. May I congratulate you on your impeccable taste in music.
80% of the world will be perfect if you switch off the media for a month.
Yeah !
True !!!
@@MrElliptific switch it off permanently is my view
The way that Bowie steps back several steps after his verses, puts his hands behind his back and lowers his head when Gilmour steps forward is pure class. Two British legends, two amazing voices.
I agree
true respect
David Lloyd Yes Bowie
I concur, shows what a classy guy he was. So sad he is no longer with us.
He always did that. Bowie ....miss him. Two legends
Comfortably Numb is not a song, is an experience.
My wife saw Pink Floyd concert in Philly in outdoor stadium, as this started it began to lightly rain ... said it was amazing & unforgettable 😎
I saw Pink Floyd in Houston and a thunderstorm hit , it was a show I will never forget either
Saw them in Earls Court London. I got to meet Gilmour and Rick Wright RIP as I’m related to Sam Brown ( Joe Browns daughter) who was one of the backing singers. Fantastic night !!
I’m an atheist but THAT was a spiritual experience !!!
Gilmour speaks and weeps through his guitar !!
Its my life.
yeah. an experience of just wanting to be dead? I have nothing but endless respect and admiration for Pink Floyd but ffs I can't listen to them - even one song - without getting so freaking depressed it's scary. I'm not naturally depressed so the effect is notable. Had to give them up before I hurt myself :(
As both a bowie and a Pink Floyd fan this is basically a dream come true. This was a great discovery.
Bowie teamed up with Gilmour again and played Arnold Lane
basically, was it a dream come true, was it basically, basically a basically a dream come basically true?
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Not to be greedy, but a Bowie Gilmour Spaceoddity would have been amazing as well.
Same as that 2 God's on stage performing my fave PF track! ❤
I was there in the 5th row. I cried then, I cried just now when I played it. The whole evening was very special. You knew that you were seeing stellar musicians at the peak of their powers. I think that this version of Comfortably Numb is the finest version of any rock song ever played. It is that good. I doubt that it will ever be surpassed.
Jealous…and crying
I’m crying! Pure magic!
I am well jel! Happy for you. What a TREAT!!
You lucky man, I feel lucky just watching the Remember that night DVD, I once played it to some friends on holiday, no one hardly said a word for 3 hours. Wonderful.
Even though I saw Floyd in 1988(and Bowie twice), I would've loved to have seen this.
If Floyd and Bowie aren’t in my grandchildren’s textbooks next to Beethoven and Mozart, I hope I’m still around to teach them.
They won´t be. Because schools like white old man music, not the cool revolutanary music hear. Instead, teach your grandchilds yourself instead.
I have my kids listen to it...our legacy to our children...real music
@@iammrbadguy9706 to be fair this is old white man music too lol being it was made by them
To place Pink Floyd & Bowie alongside the Greats of Classical music is plain ridiculous!!
You've got completely carried away with your love of this particular Band & why not? 😄
@@karly4186
Yeah, I thought the 'white old man' comment was abjectly stupid. I agree with you.
I'm only in the first verse but Bowie's take on the vocal melody is brilliant - it sounds unmistakingly Bowie.
I agree! Its not David Bowie ‘doing PF’ but more a real collaboration
@@charlesstein2880 one thing bowie doesnt get attention for is his ability to readopt his previous charachters in voice and mannerisms especially during some live shows.

Bowie & Gilmour on the same stage singing and playing the best ever guitar solo, It don't get any better than these two LEGENDS.
They pack a full concert venue like no other! I'll never ever forget my love for Pink Floyd no matter how old I get. A huge fan for 43 years.
It's quite a collaboration to see and hear: One of the inventors of alternative rock (Bowie), onstage with two prog-rock icons (Gilmour and Waters).

I agree completely about Bowie. Nothing has been the same, or "right" since Bowie passed away and into the blue skies. I feel like genuinely there was a tear in the fabric- of the world. Yes, the whole thing. The saving grace is just having songs like this, that mean so much to everyone. Me included. I can't bear how things are right now. Seems scary. Bless you. We ALL need to stick together and take care of each other. There is no other thing that is more important. My god. Beautiful song. ooh yes,
I totally agree, he should have been immortal, it seems like something shifted when he died, sounds daft I know but he was truly such a genius. 7 years on and he is still so missed, such a humble, beautiful soul
I think Bowie's probably around in some star in a another galaxy playing rock 'n' roll. Bowie is eternal 💜
He’s actually back on his home Planet. Same goes for Mr. Mercury.
David Bowies version of this song is stellar. He steps back to let David Gilmour do his thing...he was the epitome of class and elegance and I miss his genius.

I like how Bowie further creates his own vocal rather than try to “copy” note for note the original. There’s a reason why they called him the chameleon.
Absolutely right !!
A chameleon blends in with it's surroundings. David stood out from the crowd. He also never liked being called a chameleon.
Bowie. Bowie is Bowie. The only one. Everything he touches becomes pure gold. He understood everything about this masterpiece to bring it to a new dimension.

Absolutely love Bowie...but when David Gilmour started singing, that was it for me. His voice is so soothing and familiar to me. It's like a time warp and I'm transferred back to a wonderful time in my life. If you can, I would highly recommend listening to his solo LP from 1978...it's just stunning.
Gilmour's voice is so soothing, Bowie's voice is like nails on chalkboard.
This rendition of Comfortably numb is out of this world. David is spot on. David Bowie’s voice sent this to whole new level.

John O'Rourke I'd never seen this before either its fuckin incredible two legends and I love them both ! Floyd is without a doubt my favorite band ever.....
This is less known than some of the many versions of comfortably numb, especially Pulse. But this beats them all for 1) Bowie and 2) the second solo is somehow EVEN BETTER as it winds up to the final minute, climbing ever higher up the fret board, and Mason’s finale
God Bless David Bowie, Rick Wright, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Roger Waters. These men have written, recorded and performed some of the finest music ever to grace this civilization. I love you all and could never repay you the joy and comfort you have given to me for the last 47 years.
At the end, I hope there is no pain, and they merely recede. Bowie was my hero anew earlier this year, releasing his last album the day before he left us, and leaving haunting music and video in his wake. I hope I'm that graceful and cunning when my final days are upon me.
When you think about the musical legacy, the huge, incredible body of work that those five men have left to humanity, my goodness.......
I never saw Bowie live, a huge regret... However I did see Floyd twice after Roger Waters left; at Wembley Stadium in 1988, and Earls Court (the old one, now demolished) in 1994. Both incredible experiences that will live with me till the day I die.

+Stealing .Pink - Also, Rick Wakeman playing "Life On Mars" on the grand piano on Jan 10, 2016. He played on the original recording. Chills.
Is this the greatest guest appearance of all times or what!
Absolutely incredible version. Bowie’s and Wright’s vocals go incredibly well together on the 2nd verse. RIP 2 legends
David Bowie looks like a rockstar.David Gilmour looks like a Geography teacher. Both rock legends
This tune never gets old. But Bowies on vocals. Just listened to that 6 times in a loop
Hell yes!
My absolute favorite version.
