I'm planning on buying the compactor to do a large paver stone job in my backyard which will take several weeks part time to complete. When you need a tool for many weeks, it's far cheaper to buy than to rent. I can then just sell it when I'm done and recover some of the purchase price.
Do you think you could do that job just by manually tamping it with a tamper?
@@kanive1566 you get it harder with the machine quicker and less wear on your body
@@bullithedjames937 what if you use the tamper bit on a jackhammer?
@@kanive1566 I don't know, but jackhammers was tend to feel like they're sripping my shoulders out
Still waiting for a Track Saw from Harbor Freight.
Jeff, that 5-in ROS is fantastic. I bought one for like $25 on sale. It has been working great. I will probably buy another for $14 as a backup. Thanks.
I dont need another charger HF! How about just a battery/tool combo?
💯% agree
People are saying you can return the chargers for money back. I have not tried to do so personally
I have scored AMAZING open-box deals at the Parking Lot Sales by being ITC and getting in early... like $40 4Ah Extreme Performance Hercules 20v batteries or a Hercules brushless tool for under $40. It's so worth getting.
I just bought a brand new open box Hercules 12 amp angle grinder and that thing rips through paint and rust with no effort at all. It kicks hard when you first start it but it’s buttery smooth while grinding. Anyway I’m gonna start buying some more Hercules stuff I think.
Same here. Scored an open box 12ah 20v Hercules battery for $57.... new is $130
Yea they are no joke. Just got a new job and needed a new tool box, went to pick up a us general 42 inch, and they had one open box and I bought it for $400
This last weekend I finally got hold of the unicorn welding table. I have been trying to get one since they first came out and I got the last one in the city. We have 5 Harbor Freights here.
I wish they would start selling accessories for that table.
Thanks jeff for showing us this
Need ICON Tool Boxes in PURPLE
EVERYONE LIKE THIS. WE ALSO NEED ALL OF THEIR BOXES WITH BLACK TRIM AVAILABLE
Gas Powered Compactor / Tamper - I purchased a Central Machinery one 3+ years ago. I’m just a home-owner / DIY’er.
I was building a large stone paver patio and pretty wide & tall stairway (using large 4x12x18 blocks). It was a long term project being done some evenings and several weekends. I rented a compactor the first (long) weekend for about $100-150. Knowing I would need to use a compactor numerous times through the project, I quickly figured it would be MUCH more cost effective to buy one for ~$600.
Now I own one and have it for many years to come. I know I (and my sons) will get much more use over the next several years.
I run it with Sta-Bil in the gas, make sure to empty the gas tank and start/run it several times to clear all gas out of it. It starts with no issues every use no matter how long it has been stored.
Thanks for the sale preview. I enjoyed it. 😊😊😊❤❤❤
I demand XXXL work gloves for us "King Sized" bears!
The Viking Jump Starter is garbage, Project Farm tested it.
Inside Track is a must have..
My Harbor freight has told me I needed a whole set twice. Then I brought in a whole set missing one piece and they gave me a complete new set.
Call corporate because that’s not how it should work
@eve__________ I filed a complaint online. They told me it was that stores policy.
I hear this often and I was told the same thing. If it wasn’t for Jeff & his channel, I’d be without my 10 and 12mm sockets after they broke.
@ricecowboy anything that comes by itself I have exchanged easy peasy
What's wrong with just taking a new set?
The plat compactor has multi use. From compacting base for roads & buildings, to landscaping like walls & patios, to compacting dirt back in after digging or trenching. I do agree, it's a specialty too, one has to now how to use it as well as need it.
That sander is great! Redid my whole kitchen cabinets with it.
For a second I read this as you redid all your kitchen cabinets in US General. Could you imagine? 😂
9 minutes in, and 402 views, 59 likes. We love you, Jeff!
Good video. I would like to see a floor mounted strut spring compressor. They had one years ago, not sure how good it was
I have been a DeWalt fanboy for years but if Hercules had a 20 volt ratchet right now I would totally switch platforms just cuz my batteries are getting old.
i wish they had more icon, automotive, and hand tool stuff on sale
that stuff is probably already selling and doesn't need the sales pitch
@@derekp6636A lot of sales stuff already sells. The 5 drawer cart? Has to be one of their biggest sellers. Always on sale. The drill bits? Always on sale, or free with ITC. Jacks. Jack stands. Hercules and Bauer cordless.
Icon deals pop up a few times a year, most of the hand tool stuff qualifies for the under $20 deals.
The Quinn impact set is a great set. But I would wait for the 25% off coupon.
I'm having drywall flashbacks!! ;)
We need another sale on the - YUKON 46 in. 9 Drawer Mobile Storage Cabinet with Solid Wood Top, Blue
Thank You for another Great Video. 👍
Just got the drywall sander on sale before I got home and saw the video. Before that I got my back adjusted (second day in a row) because I just got throuh hanging drywall in my garage addition. Pro tip, never hang 12 foot sheets by yourself! 😳
I bought a compacter and a water-cooled table saw from HF when I was putting in pavers around my house. The job took a while because we were working on it when we could and renting would have cost more than purchasing. When we were done, I gave both of these to the friend who helped me, and he used them for 3 or 4 years before they died. They weren't pro quality (but they were also a lot less expensive than they are now; maybe they're better now), but they did the job for us - the pavers were still there 20 years later, and still perfectly sloped - it was a good deal for me, and very useful to my friend.
i bought a budget compactor while i was living on site and building my house, some out buildings and a quarter mile long driveway over the course of a couple years. there were also two 20" wide rammed earth walls and the compactor was outstanding there. i was about 2 hours from the nearest rental so i figured i'd buy it so i wouldn't have the stress and gas of multiple rentals. repurposed the motor when i was done with it.
...but did they pay you to say that you haven't been paid for it?
I bought the original plate compactor when it was on sale. Used to for weeks to compress fill dirt in the back yard (30'×40') area 4' deep. Also it works great at flattening driveway stone. Also used when installed a paver patio to set pavers. I attached a white tractor trailer mudflap to plate to protect the pavers.
at my local store in CA they don’t give the additional % off the liquidation sale stuff until the Friday.
I bought that sander for 20 bucks. I am gonna buy another one because I am pissed it is now this cheap... and screw them, I am buying ALLLLLLL the warranty that I can!!!
I enjoyed the video (and learned a lot) as usual, but every time I play one of your videos, my wife says, "I miss the bear!".
🤣😂🤣
Lookin' good there, jeff!
The plate compactor is something ive been wanting to buy for a while for home use.
I dont have a square yard on my 4acres that is flat. So I am constantly needing to level and pack ground and rock for pouring concrete etc for buildings and driveways, walkways etc
Waiting for the badland jack sale! Tired of using wood as an extension 🤣
Guess I'll get the matching Series 3 Cart in slate grey to match my 72" toolbox, hutch & side locker.
I have the band saw stand with the Bauer Band saw..... sooo useful in the shop for the metalwork!
I love my Hercules tools! I am waiting on them to come out with a chain saw! I really need a cordless chain saw on my ranch!
The plate compactor will pay for itself after six days of use. $100 a day rental at HmDep. Plus cost and time to haul back and forth. If the mechanical craps out I can put the Predator on my old chipper. Let’s face it. We live in a disposable world now at disposable prices.
Getting that purple roll cart 👏🏼
Non-pro. I rented a plate compactor for a big patio job from big orange for a weekend. Good Honda unit. The rental cost about as much as buying the HF one at its regular price. Unlikely but if I ever have another big job I'm buying and probably reselling after.
So good to see your energy back at 100% Bear.
I just bought 3 of the Brawn shop lights. Fantastic. Maybe too much for my little shop!!LOL
Pretty good price for a 50 cal ammo can. Might find it cheaper online, but shipping kills you on them.
I can vouch from the HF 50 cal ammo boxes and it's a steal at under $10. I store ammo in one and the other extra parts and all cleaning supplies for my side arm. Just inspect in the store to make sure it closes tightly and it meets your standards. Even the big sticker comes off easy!
I absolutely love the purple carts, if i wasn't all in on green I'd probably get that.
I'm right there with ya on drywall, but mine includes, mudding, paint, and insulation.
I can tolerate drywall work. But I despise working on sprinklers/irrigation and cleaning out my gutters that have a semi-useless gutter guard I have to remove…every stinking year.
Got the compactor for my small RV rental pads
Love your content, appreciate the tips and honest reviews. You've saved me a ton as I get my back into construction for work and random woodcraft in my free time. Love the HFreight, my niche for 90% of those once a monther tools that I can buy, do the job and not have to switch to top Ramen for a month. Cool that your from MT, I sprouted up where the giant sleeps, Helena. Cheers and good health friend! See ya in the next one
I bought the compactor. I'm a DIY guy. I put some cold patch asphalt on my driveway. 2 large retaining wall bases with plans to do another retaining wall/paver patio. And am so happy I bought it. Was able to take my time compact the wall base in stages, do one wall instead of rushing, compacting too much at a time. It is just me, so trying to do it the right way would have been 5+ rental sessions, so I more than broke even and can sell it this fall and make even more money back even if I sell it at a discount.
I was literally just saying I hate working on drywall 😂
Those hex shank quarter inch adapter's, my harbor freight has the Bauer ones on clearance for about three bucks. Also, I remember wanting to buy the lug nut sockets with the plastic protector around it to protect your rims. They had one left in the cardboard was all mushed up around the plastic case. I went back the following week and it was on the clearance shelf a half price and it was complete. That was a good deal for me. The only other thing I got on clearance was solar panels. When I got it home, the panels were brand new not even open, however it looks like the controller was swapped by a customer and it was all water damage so I had to return it which was unfortunate because I got that for half price as well. Finally, I tried to convince myself to buy the Bauer battery charger and combo tool with a 3/8 impact wrench, as hard as I tried, I didn't pull the trigger. Oh well.
Lol Best I Told You So dance on youtube!! 🤣🤣🤣
I would like to see a Hercules 20v caulking gun, I’m too invested with that line to change horses. As another viewer said the ratchets really need to come out in 20v.
Demand them to make a mag drill then lol
Annular cutters.
We need annular cutters at HF!
I got the Yukon work bench to put in my kitchen.....It was missing a piece and the manager took one off the floor display and gave it to me. It was a part that they didn't even have a # for. I put it on casters and it is going to live under one of the cabinets.
I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that same exact 3500 watt predator generator for $599 but it's been a while!
My favorite like yea I got that is the 10 mm socket kit they sell. A bunch of different 10mm in one strip
I bought that on sale and I haven’t needed it tbh 😂 ever since organizing my tools I haven’t lost a 10mm or misplaced one of like 8 that I have. I’m a serious disbeliever in the 10mm spontaneous disappearance phenomenon.
Here’s information NO ONE talks about INCLUDING HARBOR FREIGHT!!! The 29 gallon air compressor will run on 240 V/AC. The information is on the motor. My compressor has been running on 240 after I did the half hour break in and changed the oil, 6 months ago.
I've had one of the Portland pole saws for several years. I've used it quite a bit and it works great. If I recall I paid $40 for mine but that was back when they still had 20% off coupons LOL.
I wouldn't mind one of the new 13k multi-fuel generators they came out with. Just don't have the funds right now. I'd use it for backup at home, just would need to wire it in with a transfer switch.
I'm in inside track member, and there's quite a few things I've saved money on with it....they had the Hercules Grease Gun for $100 with the ITC here recently. I got the Titanium Multi-Process Welder a while back on sale with the ITC membership as well....and a few other things here and there the ITC membership has saved me some money on....its worth it if you shop at Harbor Freight several times a year.
I'm gonna be all over the Hercules stuff. I'm a pro mechanic and I've been using Ryobi but with the prices of that stuff keeps going up and I just want a tool that does the job and if I drop it or something it won't die.
Milwaukee stuff is nice but I feel like I don't want to be hard on it and risk breaking it so id rather have Hercules where I just don't have to worry about it, plus the slap it on the counter warranty at harbor freight is just too good
Pro mechanic … Ryobi?
Yeah … OK
@@Bay0WulfI'm a pro cabinet maker/installer and have been using Ryobi professionally for 5 years with literally zero issues 🤷🏻♂️
@@Bay0Wulf I mean I work at a shop and do automotive repair so yes. I'm a professional. The fact that you think you must have snap on tools to do a job when each one costs more than a paycheck simply goes to show the 80s called
I can get a tool that does what I need it to do, it's got the same warranty, I can warranty it any time, and if I drop it, throw it, beat it up I'll be fine. Honestly biggest reason I want to go to Hercules. Tools get used and dropped and break, and id rather a 10 minute drive slap it on the counter and get a new one Rather than wait till the truck comes around and they ship it off and a month later I get it back. God forbid the serial number guy messed up on your Milwaukee, say goodbye to your warranty. And if you think they don't break then you can keep living in lala land buddy cause when it breaks you'll get you enjoy dealing with it.
Milwaukee break too often have good power and good warranties. Good if your ok with waiting without a tool know alot of guys that buy 2 of a ctool at a time so they have one while out for repair. Might as well buy 2 cheaper ones in my opinion.
@@sewerrat7612 also I can slap it on the counter and have a new one in 10 minutes. I honestly can't think of another place that easy for electrical warranty
6 tool combo, woooooo!! Still holdin out lol
Nice Earthquake air gun, I have absolutely no use for it. Would they give you a credit if you return it?
Hi Red! Love the vids. Just wanted to comment on the Bauer 5" palm sander. I have one and have beat the tar out of it and it just keeps coming back for more. For $15, I will get another one and have a different grit on it. I love Bauer brand tools, I went with Bauer over Hercules primarily because of price and being a home user. I did get a couple of the Herc corded tools, including the band saw to use in the Herc stand. What a combo! For cordless, I go Bauer. Thanks and keep up the great videos! Hope you are recovering nicely.
I am disappointed in the short warranty on the Herc corded stuff.
90 days just like Bauer.
I guess I need to see what the extended warranty on the plug in Herc Band saw would cost.
Cordless just seems like it would be more of a pain in the ass than a help on a porta band.
I just bought the series 2 cart 5 drawer for 199$ “close out” a couple weeks ago… kinda mad now that the series 3 is 199.. but glad to see the prices coming down for sales!! May just have to grab another 😂
Thise magnetic bars at 2.46 are just outstanding to put your sockets on in a tool carrier. Place on sale padded mats or woid strips between them to hold in place. I also screwed them to various spots in the shop to keep a range of sockets and ratchets right at eye level so you use a tool and replace it in sn organized manner. When the project is done return to the home tool box
I got tired if the pegs breaking off the socket organizers and the magnetic bars are so nice
They are also great to use as a straight edge with the plasma cutter.
The Quinn 1/2 impact set and the 3/8 impact set are 10/10. Even for diesel mechanics they work great. I love both of my sets and have bought 2 of the 1/2 sets. One for the shop and one for the truck. Lifetime in store warranty is the main reason I buy stuff from harbor freight.
Also the manager at my HF said he would sell me any us general box/cart/attachment that is open box for half price because he doesn’t want it sitting on his floor. It might also help that he loaded up my 56inch box so he knows me from that lmao
I'll definitely be checking out this sale when it comes along. However, at this point, I'm just hoping that they extend this months ITC price a few more days on the Haul Master weight distributing hitch setup. It's supposed to end Thursday but I won't have the cash for it until Friday.
Honestly talk to the manager, they have the ability to override any price as an “open box/return/warrant” sale. So they could do you favor by doing that I believe. I’m pretty sure I could convince the manager at my store to do that
Only buying the boxes they make in purple till they have them all with purple available 😂, and thank you for the honest feedback so we can make wise decisions with our spending
@ theden , what air compressor would you recommend for mid light duty something quiet tho
My HF has a clearance (not open box or missing pieces) shelf in middle of the store....picked up warrior 5amp grinders $16 but itc under $20 coupon took to $12. Has this clearance area allways been a thing? Or this new to all stores? Just mine?
It never occurred to me the missing parts clearance stuff was from warrantee fulfillment
Right?! I wondered if someone had stolen some of those sockets or if they had just been Lost during shipping
yeah I used to think that the missing pieces had been shoplifted so that's why they were back there
Always appreciate these vids, however don't see it being a better sale than most of their other sales including Spring Black Friday etc. In fact the air compressors were cheaper, good point on Tekton not being the value it once was. Also agree the Daytona Long Reach low profile is a versatile well-built jack that will handle a sports car to a large SUV 👍🏽
Hey bear ! I need a good recommendation for a battery backpack sprayer that’s has a good reach. Thanks!!!
I love the feel of Snap On
My cover pro shelter has outlasted the shelterlogic I had that cost 3x as much.
I got the omnipro 220 open box returned for 500 a couple weeks ago
Will the 6 drawer cart go on sale soon again? I wish I hadn’t missed it last go round
What air compressor from harbor freight would you recommend for filling RV/ truck tires
NEED ICON boxes in PURPLE and all ICON boxes with black trim!!!
I have a rocky, hard driveway/yard. That Badlands off road jack really comes in handy. I do more work out there than in my shop. It is well designed. Naturally, after shopping and using a coupon to get it, I now see this LOWER price. Never fails…🙄
I really wish these Bauer deals had a no charger option. Some kind of tool discount option in lieu of the charger. The discount would need to be greater than the $32.99 charger or I will obviously just buy the charger. It's just that I have plenty of chargers already but can always use more batteries.
yeah like 2 batt no charger option
You mean the bear made you , you tube famous just kidding luv your vids very informative wasn't a harbor freight fan until your reviews
when are we going to get a Hercules combo tool set?
Just a warning about the Centech battery charger and jump starter, it will not charge a dead battery. It doesn't say it online,it doesn't say it on the box either. There's a white sticker on the charger that says it will not charge a dead battery. Like 2 weeks ago,an older gentleman was returning one thinking it didn't work and I asked him if he was trying to charge a dead battery. He said yes and I told the cashier to take it out of the box and showed them the white sticker and they were both surprised.
This is normal for the new auto chargers. Manual charge setting is required to charge a extremely discharged battery.
Can someone please address the quiet redesign of the 6-ton Daytona Jack Stands. Harbor Freight never put out any statement or info on why they were redesigned. They just quietly appeared on shelves...with a lot of changes. Why!? I have 2 sets of the original style, and am left wondering why they changed. If it wasn't some safety or failure issue...?
Any word on if/when an ICON tool cart will be released??
Wow and I just paid 300 after tax for the 5 drawer mechanics cart series 3
I will definitely buy the orange welder.
Looks like the 5 drawer carts are the new Series 3!
Yep. Series 2 has been put on clearance and is gone
Waiting on Hercules planer! When is that going on sale???
Sorry Bear, I’m sticking with Tekton on their socket sets. I’m sure the Quinn are good but for the price difference, can’t see changing.
Hey, Bear! Thanks for the preview. One thing I'm going to need in my shop is a better dust collection system. Do have any opinions on the HF units and do you know if they ever go one sale?
I have the 2HP unit, upgraded the impeller, added a cyclone and canister filter and it works great. The 1HP is fine for a single tool with a short run.
@@Wohlfe Thanks! I have a 1HP single-stage and it does OK with dust but cannot handle the wood shavings my lathe throws. I plan on adding a cyclone for sure.
Very rarely go on sale, but I think the large one was just on sale recently. The reality though is that it’s pretty hard to beat the price even when it’s not on sale. I would look into a two stage mod. Lots of videos on CZcams about that.
@@denoftools Definitely going 2-stage! The wood shavings from the lathe clog the impeller of my dust collector and it just drops the CFMs to near zero.
You mentioned you prefer the Hercules ratchet to the Bauer one but then also say the Bauer has more power. So what makes you prefer the Hercules over the Bauer?
That Bauer sander is hardcore. Still have it after 4 years maybe 5, use it all the time. Better than my old DeWalt
I missed out on the $100 off Quinn 428 mechanic tool set on the spring break black Friday sale. Any chance they'll bring it back?
I think it’s been $300 twice this year already so they’ll probably do it again. It’s definitely worth it as it got me going with 90% of what I need. Then I bought about another 90% of things I don’t “need” 🤣 that 428 piece should have came with the Quinn plier set but oh well. Also I have all the 12 point sockets still in the bag as I find them more likely to strip a bolt/nut than a 6 point so I just don’t use them.
I'm looking at the CoverPro but I don't wanna pay $400 😵 that 20% off coupon would be clutch
I have the McGraw 21 gal compressor, It runs great. I can run any air tools on it, and it can stay up with it, no problem. The only problem is, I don't use it like I use to! The battery powered tools took over. Who needs air tool anymore!
I wish HF would come out with a 60gal air compressor
That Braun light, I got it on sale for 17.99 - Is it normal for it to only last like 15 min before it won't stay on??
That Viking battery pack is no joke. It’s worth its weight in gold
I never had good luck with mine. Maybe I had a bad unit, but the Project Farm jump pack comparison kinda confirmed my suspicion that it was just not what I needed. Maybe they work better now...
is that the us general 3 5 drawer? the new 1 ?
