Honda XL500s Mini Buggy Build || Part 1

- Oh boy, here we go. Rolling out of the garage next is a home-built mini off road dune buggy, powered by a 1981 Honda XL500s engine. This project is another collaboration with Lincoln from Flaming Rayz, who is also building an off road dune buggy as per the rules we've made.

Specifications of what happened in this video:
I started construction of the bottom part of the frame using scrap 1" mild steel pipe, and used amazon pillow blocks and an old go kart axle as the rear swingarm pivot point. The rear axle was constructed using a @ 1" go kart axle, 44" in length. I then used a scrap go kart sprocket and ground the teeth off of it to use as a brake disk. I also used my school's waterjet cutter to cut out a sprocket hub out of 3/16" mild steel.

That would be fun, the problem is i have about 3 square feet of working space right now, i keep my car in this garage and i just pull it out on the driveway during the day while i work on this thing and then i have to take it apart and shove it somewhere during the night, when i get my own place ill probably get a project car though

Why did you fit such a large rear sprocket? The tyre circumference would be about the same as the original bike I guess, so a same size sprocket would be a good start. The oversized one will give you more torque but loose top speed. Depends if hill climbing is your thing
the wheels are about 3 inches shorter than what’s on the motorcycle, and I did purposely put a very large rear sprocket since it’s an off road vehicle for trail riding and such and my main priority is torque, but even still it will do 60+mph no problem

This is a 1981 Honda, How dear you! Did I just see you but weld those tube extensions without putting in an insert inside the tube and plug welding it to both sides? You are going to have a weak spot right there in your frame. I don't advise doing any hardcore offroading or jumping it. And then you do exactly that a few minutes later in the video on your rear suspension section. I can tell that you know how to build, it must have just been an oversight. Keep building.
The pipe I used is so thick walled that I figured it’s plenty strong enough without a plug as long as i weld it good
