Is there still money in trucking in 2024?

  • I see and hear truck drivers talk about and complain about how there is no money in trucking anymore but they always mainly talk about OTR when they say it, there’s money in trucking you just have to gain the experience, endorsements and be willing to work in order to make it.

I been driving 6 years, 1st year i made like 50k. Got my 1 year experience and went to LTL pulling doubles making minimum 1200a week, after about 2 years there i started getting real bread now im at 1700 a week mon-fri home every night with the option to work a extra day on the weekend for up to a extra 300-500 depending if they have loads. LTL overnights no touch freight is EASY bread.

Over the road is scam fr, driving way more miles, don't see home and end up making less than local drivers... makes no sense

    Hi. There bro.
You talked about Food service, Hazmat, Tankerand Flatbed etc.
Great thinking you think out of the box.
Could you tell us more about Food service, Hazmat, Tanker and Flatbed etc?
Could anybody work more than 40 h in this food service if he works extra hours is going to be paid more?
And do these companies hire new drivers or what is the strategy of working with them?
Thanks for your generosity in giving info about this.
    ( Your friend Ali )...
    Salute to you bro 💪👍

You'll almost always get more than 40 hours in food service. You'll pretty much use your entire 70 hour clock every week. Some will hire new drivers as the turnover is crazy. You'll make good money because of how physical it is and the hours you'll work. I can't speak on any of the others you listed because I have not done them. I'm looking to get into fuel tankers but I don't have enough experience to get hired yet as every company near me wants a few years of experience.

I agree with what you said bro. I make $90K doing Dollar Tree, but it’s not for everyone. Hoping I can finally cross that $100K mark this year, even though it’s not gonna make that much of a difference with this crazy inflation.

Keep grinding, it ain’t for everybody because not everybody want to work hard for it, nothing good comes easy.

I’m not even 21 yet; I have to wait five more months. I already got my license through Amazon Manual 10-speed. I just need to get my hazmat and tanker endorsements. When people try to get their license through a mega carrier, they’re not really making any money, that’s why they leave after a couple of months. I think you might have better options if you already have your license without a mega carrier. You’re not really taking a pay cut because these food delivery jobs are hiring people without experience. I don’t know why people don’t go for that. And if you have your license already, Amazon freight partners; some will hire without experience from what I’ve been seeing. I’m most likely going that route in October just to get like 5 months’ experience

That’s good you have a plan, I think people don’t consider food service because it’s not talked about when it comes to trucking. OTR is pretty much the highlight of trucking and whats recommended to get that experience in.

mega Carriers pay peanuts, mom and pop pay a lil more but no benefits a lot of times 1099 and low fright with bad equipment, hourly trucking jobs are very few and not to mention most want you to put in 60 hours a week average with no overtime, so is not worth it

I honestly don’t know much about that but that’s definitely an occupation to consider I haven’t thought about that. I’m sure you’ll probably need a crane or hoisting license which will also be something good to have under your belt.
