Happy farmers, a wedding and some giant cauliflowers feature in a quaint look at India's rural west.
"The land of smiling people" - rural Maharashtra, in the west of India - is the setting of this film. In this quaint look at rural life, the roles of the smiling farmer and his wife are clearly performed by professional actors in a style reminiscent of Indian films of the time - and strangely at odds with the documentary style narration. The film was produced by the Prabhat Film Company - then one of India's leading feature film production companies - for the Films Division of the Government of India.

@Blue Rose This is maharashtra and not some goddamn regreesive north india. In maahrashtrian culture women have held as much responsibilities as men did. Rani Laxmi bai, Ahilya bai Holkar, Rani Tarabai were queens of Maratha empire without their male counterparts. You would only see such things in some part of south as well but not in north india. So, Don't insult my maharashtra for rest of fucked up india.
