I wasn't expecting to get anything out of this since these sorts of vids show the same stuff, but I never knew about the stereo button mapping, appreciate that. Being able to assign buttons to all the actions in the car sounds really useful, I find myself quite often searching through the iDrive for stuff so I'm sure I'll put that to good use 👍

Hi Brett! I loved your new video on the car features but some people don’t know that on some bmw cars there’s a hidden torch/usb port on the inside of the glovebox but I don’t know if it’s on older BMWs or new ones

Living in Scotland I like to start the car to defrost in the mornings and run back indoors, locking it of course. At 6am the horn beeping started to piss the neighbours off. If you hold your key directly against the windscreen roughly in the position of your rear view mirror and lock it. (No beeping) 👍🏼
Literally been searching how to turn this horn feature off everywhere but massive thanks for that.

Really like the new style of filming, made the video really easy and natural to watch. I brought a 2017 4 series coupe a couple of weeks ago and after watching this I went out to check for the 9v socket under the glovebox and there was one there! Going to be ideal when I wire in my dash cam soon.. cheers! I'm also down in Cornwall so I'll be on the lookout for the white 1 series :D

Nice vid. I'm on my 2nd 125i and love the car. I found the 140i too much effort holding it back but 125 offers perfect balance for regular driving whilst having v decent poke when you want it. I'm due a change in a few months. I can't go for a 3rd 125 can I? Surely not...

I have researched on bmw 1 series so much on youtube I know where your ideas came from hahaha. A feedback though, if you could add captions in your video to mention the points you're currently talking about it would be soooo much more helpful to the viewers (eg. 1. Hidden 9V power adapter, 2. Touch sensitive buttons, etc). Small feature but definitely helps viewers like me who wish to skip through points that I'm already aware.

Hi im trying to look for cruise control buttons on the 2017 f20 can find for other 2015 to 2010 models. Just one mod to having trouble trying to source the parts. Any ideas?
One you may not have known is Convince entry. Not sure if this is only on 3 doors, but double tap the open button and when you pull the door handle, the window will slide half down to assist with getting in the car in tight spaces. Also, the socket under the glove box is 12v not 9v.

I'm taking the mirror unfolding when reaching 25 miles per hour only happens if you've got the mod you have for them to be folded/unfolded electronically? I just bought my 1 series and it's soooo basic, it doesn't do this!
Not sure if someone else has mentioned this, but a lot of the features that you think are hidden, are all mentioned in the owners books. Also some of the things you have mentioned are only for the options that have been selected for the car. Best to check with something like VIN decoder to see what factory options the car has been built with, this will then let you know what extra features your car will have. This is for all ages of BMW's 👍

Hey mate do you have to have folding mirrors for the tilt mirror
If you use the physical key to lock the doors and leave the windows slightly ajar the internal sensor is not set, the windows do not close and you can leave a dog in the car for a few minutes, only in the winter of course.

I'm pretty sure the mirror reverse trick isn't actually a stock feature. I'm pretty sure you have to have it done when programming the car. I saw it as an option when I had mine programmed so I activated it

The extra 12v sockets (where would you got 9v from In a car?!) are part of an option called storage package.

my question is simple for a bmw 1series how do i paddle shift in automatic mode(s1/s2 etc) wether my vehicle is in sport or comfort mode when i paddle shift it's only in manual mode hence it shows m1/m2 etc. i've tried everything from google search to the book manual itself and nothing is working on how to change it to automatic. thnx

Well mine bmw 120i are from 2015 and had not that much features but some are close or here... the tests stuff are, the under glove pocket is just a usb port not a entire new 9v plug... and if i remeber correctly not had in the back another plug... but... i still loving my car, i bough last week and are totally amazinh getting over 180 km/h in the road easy as gettinh 150 in my old car... plus, i loved the rear rotation stuff... i will miss that in news versions that lost the back wheels power to become the front wheels powered :/
Hi there just picked up our 1series today 17 plate on the steering wheel we only have a limit switch with a paddle switch next to it but no cruise control switch ???

Just bought a 2013 m sport 1 series for 4,500 thought it was a steal for a good car, I can’t wait mate
That was a bargain lad!
Quickly double press the door open button on the fob. When you then open the door, the window will go down halfway. This gives you more room to get in when for example someone has parked close next to you or if you parked next to a wall. Works only on the f21 with frameless windows.

@@BrettBarnesYT I hope it works for you. Let us know. I hope it’s not only an option on cars for example The Netherlands (where I’m from). The only ‘stupid’ thing is that it’s not possible to do the other way around; when you are in the car and you want to get out in a tiny parking spot.

When I keep hold of the lock button on my 1 series (116d 16 reg), the wing mirrors dont fold in :( but the windows do go up and down

A quick question if you do get the time to reply I’m looking at purchasing a bmw 1 series not the m sport but the same year I am needing to purchase a new car next month would you recommend buying a cheap car in the mean time so I have a bit more to save and let my insurance drop or should I spend abit more and get something that will hold most of its value and just lose a little please help me also love the vids been watching since the tech channel vids just found you again on my new CZcams account keep it up

I have 2015 118i and for some reason my electric mirrors do not fold up after locking it (pressing the lock button for 2.5 sec), does anyone know how to get that fixed?
Usually you have to get that feature coded in. Really easy to do via BimmerCode

why is your "check-engine" light on..... i have a bmw 1 series too (2016) and it also needs service this month and the light is on. Does this just means that the car needs a service soon because mine is driving very very normal with the light on! Anyway great video!!

how do you turn off auto start-stop by default? it's turned on by default and it's driving me crazy
Dont know what model bmw you have? but in most cases, if you look on your dashboard, sometimes its just above the start/stop button! on by default : ( but if you press the button that says A inside an omega looking pattern, it turns amber usually : ) this is to turn off this start/stop feature which is a pain : ( or sometimes like my 116i m sport it is located just below the aircon unit with a row of five buttons!! four blank ones to add additional stuff, and one with the `A` that turns the Auto sart/stop off. It is also possible on some models to have it coded to OFF all the time by default : ) hope this helps @lit2021
@@Pedro_X_MC2 yeah, I have that button (btw. model 116d), but it annoys me that I have to press it every time I start the car. I want it to be off by default.
