    The 4 note orchestral intro (dun-dun-dun DUN) is the opening of Beethoven's 5th symphony (not the dog, the OTHER Beethoven), as are the interpolations during the bridge. So this is not just Chuck Berry cover, it's a Chuck Berry /Ludwig van Beethoven MASHUP!

    The song has been covered by many other artists, including the Beatles, their version of "Roll Over Beethoven" was recorded on July 30, 1963, for their second British LP, With the Beatles, and features Harrison on vocals and guitar.

    A minor radio hit for ELO in the 1970s, it's their traditional concert encore song. I like how leader Jeff Lynne can use it to show off his underrated guitar chops. And Chuck Berry was the real “king” of rock n roll.

    You must explore ELO and particularly Jeff Lynne in depth. He is the Beethoven, Bach and Mozart of our time. Produced for some of the greatest artists, Petty, Orbison, McCartney and The Beatles and a Traveling Wilbury. Universal instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter and producer, still delivering his perfected sound, voice and all, at 75! Humble man after all he has given us.

    Jeff Lynne, the genius behind ELO. Chuck Berry ➡️The Beatles➡️ELO. Great cover. Other Chuck Berry songs would be: Go, Johnny Go!, School Days, Reelin’ and Rockin’, Rock and Roll Music, Sweet Little Sixteen, Maybellene, Ding-A-Ling. 😊

    Such an awesome take on the Chuck Berry original. I didn’t realize Jeff Lynne played those leads.

      This just shows what a rock hero Chuck Berry was...Not only was this song hot in the 50s it is still entertaining today...Of course ELO's influence on it doesn't hurt anything...Love this reaction!!!

    ELO rules! Try their classic, "The Diary of Horace Wimp"! (Studio version.)

    This is a great recording however... You'll want to check out the original studio version of this song. Its got more of the '5th of Beethoven/Chuck Berry' fusion in so many ways. The original long version, not the short version cut up for old 70's radio.

    It's a pity the cello parts are too low in the mix, there are better versions of Jeff/ELO's take on this.

  • @petedavies74
    @petedavies74 Před 10 měsíci

    Nowhere near as good as the original studio version by the original ELO in 1973...Strangely enough ELO wasn't Jeff Lynne's idea, it was the other founder member Roy Wood's vision. He left halfway through the second studio album ELO2....that said Jeff really developed the whole thing and the rest is history...
