Nightshade's notes: Yes, I'm on a Timeraft kick, apparently. I usually try to split my scripts up and not do the same writer's work twice in a row, but Timeraft's scripts have been inspiring me lately, and one of the best ways to avoid burnout is to follow your heart. So here we are! This was just so fun to bring to life -- from drawing the art, to the little animations, to the music, I loved every step of the process. It's kind of funny how she talks about how her job isn't exciting and glamourous and then everything she mentions about it is wildly melodramatic.
My guess is that she's been doing the job for so long she's been worn down and is just tired of it like that sort of thing was definitely exciting and glamorous when she first started the job but she's been around that sort of stuff for so long it's basically lost it's allure typical of the types of grizzled detectives that you find in old noir films
To be honestly, I didn’t know what to expect from this audio when I clicked it, and the opening had me thinking it was going to be shit-post levels of comedy but it ended up being such a perfect blend of comedy, wholesomeness, and genuinely interesting figurative language that I ended up with a giant grin on my face. This audio is honestly 10/10
What an absolutely loveable dork.
Won’t lie, I kind of expected the classic; for the listener to be her landlord fishing for a rent check through her increasingly stretched metaphors.
" Youse evah need a good P.I., ya go see Graves. Yeah, she's a dame, but she's got a good nose for trouble. Good lookin', too." That was the first time I ever heard of the P.I. named Graves. We crossed paths a few times-her case or mine blowing us around this old town seemed to draw us into range of each other more than once. A beautiful woman in a man's getup; ready for a brawl, a shootout, or perhaps some mild breaking and entering to hunt down a clue. A few sly exchanges and pithy retorts between us made me take a longer look at Sam Graves. It wasn't until I followed my nose to an old jazz bar one night, and saw who the sax player alone in the single spotlight was. She still wore her street clothes, but she'd doffed the trenchcoat and fedora. Her hair was down...first time I ever saw it that way. Other than a thin line of gray, her hair was still a vibrant red. I knew her eyes were grey, but they were closed as she poured her soul into her music. Nobody in the room, not even Vinny Three Fingers and his retinue of goons in the back corner, made a sound during her performance. When the song ended the crowd went nuts; applause and calls of " Encore!" She didn't do it though-she grabbed her stuff and darted backstage, although I did catch that she was smiling as she tossed the crowd a quick bow. That was three days ago. Time to grab a cup o' joe for each of us and go say hello.
When the one little physical description actually fits you it feels like a massive win, when it doesn’t describe you at all it’s like the disappointment of realizing that your father didn’t show up to your ball game, only to then find out he was on his way all along but got hit by a truck before he could get there and his death was all your fault…
Don’t think too hard about this, I have no idea what it means
All I know is that I have green eyes, and I got to kiss a cute detective lady 😊

I have a soft spot for the clueless type. The ones who still don't see the writing on the wall when it's scowled out clear as day in front of them. Usually it's insecurity, like "no way, me? that's gotta be a mistake" and there's something so very cute about that.

Mostly, I'm just a ditz at other times though. 😆

The film noir theme, the fact our protagonist speaks exclusively in poetry and is so wisened/jaded by her job, only to be denser than lead… her subtle softer side; and of course your wonderful voice to tie everything up together in a luxurious, velvety package. This is one of my favorite scripts that you’ve ever recorded, right next to the ex-convict girlfriend series. Thank you so much for making this and for doing what you do. Take care

This is genuinely one of your best uploads of all time. I...show up (not gonna "phrasing" me!) especially for the monster girls and the challenges they face. But you know what, I am possibly even more impressed by the noir themed stories! I literally didn't know I wanted this until now.

Okay, I absolutely lost it at "Who do you think you are, Diogenes?" Was not expecting that little reference. That and the dramatic music sting at thinking the coffee was poison. Can't say I didn't see it coming with the repeated mention of it tasting like almonds. But the little flourish added entertainingly to the moment. Ending was super sweet too.
This is possibly my favourite of you works so far. Love how much you played with the Noir theme, and I love the subtle expression changes in your character art. Little details like that just brings it all together! :)

This might be one of your most entertaining videos yet! I legitimately laughed out loud numerous times at the way you spoke certain lines in the script, especially combined with the jazzy musical background. 😆As someone who has enjoyed many detective-esque stories in her time, I love how this both lovingly makes fun of and takes common tropes in the genre seriously (such as in media like 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?'). I would really like to see a sequel with this character to see where her budding romance could go. 😉
"True intentions"? My only intentions so far are romantic in nature, curling up in her arms and becoming a househusband (edit: but not the dominant one in the relationship). Well, that and the hope of working alongside her to free to innocent people from wrongful convictions.
Yeah, I like her. A lot. Not straightforward enough, but the metaphors and similes would become quite the game between us.

Well I’ve never been one for paint’ins. Never could draw myself but I got a kin eye for beauty and you Ms. Graves are drenched in it. From your beautifully red hair to your gorgeous grey eyes and the way you make music where others just make a quick buck. Really? I don't remember feeling like laughing when I recorded it, except the times that were intentional, though it was definitely fun hamming it up. But that means my acting wasn't coming across at some points; I'll have to give it another listen so I can improve for next time. Thanks for the feedback!
@nightshadequeenasmr The character is obviously "tongue-in-cheek", an amount of humor will be there anyway. It's cool.
-Here's an idea-
You could put out a "blooper reel" once and a while. Cut 8 minutes of some of your previous, unusable dialogues together. You can't use them anyway, but can still monetize it.
There have been a few audios where I might have some interesting bloopers to share. Most of the time, though, I think they're pretty boring. Just me stopping and repeating the same line. If I were a listener, I'd be bored. But every once in a while, something funny happens, and I may make a video from those. I'm glad to hear you'd be interested in it! That's motivation to stop thinking about it and actually do it!

This once a experience to say the least..it was such a great vibe and the could picture the events perfectly in my mind because of the humurous yet detailed explanation of the environment and the people lol.

Timeraft never fails to amaze. Always bright scripts like fireworks in the night sky.
Listening to this, I caught myself thinking that I would love to listen to some kind of ASMR in such a noir setting. But more serious, not comedic. Such things are rare in ASMR.
I like the details. How her facial expression changed. And how the screen turned green every time green eyes were mentioned. And then when she finally realized what was happening and laughed, the colors returned to the gray world that she herself had created around herself.

I should keep an eye out for more noir scripts. Though I confess, I think the short format makes it difficult to do it in a more serious form. It's hard to set up a mystery in such a Iimited time. Then again, maybe I just don't have enough experience with the genre.

It's just a random thought. It's a pretty niche genre after all. Perhaps this would work in a series format, but I don’t know if it would be interesting to many and if there are scripts about it.
